Steven armstrong delisted by the eagles

leaves with a premiership medalian... better than can be said for some champions like Robert Harvey

Gee. Has his limitations, but thought he was one of the Weagles better performers in the second half of the season. Bit rough on him.

Just goes to show that winning a flag doesn't necessarily make you an elite player. Armstrong was one of a few plodders on the WCE list found out this year once the cream had been scooped off the top.

Armstrong performed admirably against us a couple of weeks back. Would of thought it would be enough to earn him another year but I guess WCE are going with a youth policy.

I'm glad we got rid of Armstrong when we did. Never had it in him to be anything more than a decent player.

Did anyone else see the interview with that Dalziell bloke crediting Woewodin with helping him get to AFL?

No but they both played for East Fremantle, Right?

Whats this got to do with Steven Armstrongs delisting?

Unlucky given his second half of the season. He was one of their best.

Yeah, I would have thought there were worse players on their list than Armstrong. Oh well. At least he has a premiership medallion.

Lets get him !!!

Are you serious?? With Maric, Wonaeamirri with a season under their belt. Armstrong has been around 7 years. He is not going to improve...

List clogger.

He's kidding.

He forgot to say that we would get back Shannon Motlop at the same time and give MFC real premiership experience in 2009.

I guess I know nothing at all about football, cause I thought he was doing ok over there.

Maybe Suzanna, he doesn't tell lies. That would put him diametrically opposed to the coach. Please don't tell Demonlander 'swampfox' I said that.

complete surprise to me too.... any chance we can get him back !!!! ( don't yell at me to loud...just a thought!!!)

no way. anyone delisted from a bottom 4 side..isn't worth getitng picked by a club in the same bottom 4

I don't know - Shane Wakelin was de-listed from St Kilda (dead last) in 2000 and drafted by Collingwood (2nd last) in the National Draft at the end of that year.

Would be pretty harsh (and unfair imo) to say he hasn't been a very good player over the last 8 years.

Yeah, and lets get Godfrey, Ward and Bizzel back too!

Spot on Nasher. Which is why it annoys the crap out of me when posters make statements like "He'll never be a premiership player" or "How many Melbourne players would get a game at so and so?". It's the elite players that make premiership teams, and any player is capable of playing in one if they can play a role in support of the champions.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
