Just because you rest a player, doesn't mean you're trying not to win. Chris Johnson might not be in Bailey's best 22.

he is in Baileys best 22 i reckon, and to be honest with you, my cousin is in the AFL and unfortunately tanking happens. Chris Johnson may not have won us any more games, and sure Bailey wants to win- but in the clubs general future thinking, it happens- especially when prioirty picks are at stake.

It's very hard for the players with all the scrutiny, and the coaching staff, because naturally everyone wants to go out and win, but they shuffle players in positions they would not normally play- Quinten Lynch midfield for example- Bate playing up ground, Sylvia backline/midfield. subtle things clubs do- still trying to win, but diff things that they wouldnt do if finals were on the line.

At this time of the year, a corked-thigh from last week can be a season-ending injury, the list always looks over-dramatic.

What I dont want to see in 3 months time is half of our list doing rehab or not even getting out to run laps when summer training commences. We probably knew in December/January that seemingly half of our list had missed the most part of the off-season gruelling training regime, and thus would be underdone/underprepared or not even available when the real stuff started earlier this year...
