Just throwing it out their guys.. i know alot of water has to go under the bridge yet, but if the pies were silly enoughto sack him and we had first pick in the PSD would you be happy for him to come to our club with alot of young players.

I would, it's a PSD pick, not a lot to lose..

Interested to hear what you think?

He has recently signed a new contract with Collingwood so he won't going to the PSD this year.

They cannot sack him unless his actions represent a breach of the new contract which I understand does not have any behavioural conditions.

And if they did sack him, the Pies would have salary cap issues.

If they are going to get rid of him (I doubt that) they will trade him to another Club.

Even if he gets sacked? What would happen to him if he was sacked?

Rhino, if the Pies sack him and he wanted to keep playing, would he nominate for the National Draft?

Is that what Gehrig did?

There is no way that I want Didak at my club. I don't care about his football ability; I do care about his ability to undermine the integrity of his football club.

Never. Nor any other player with "issues".

The culture of the club is far more important than what one player will do to improve on-field performnance.

Posted

He's a good player but would you want to risk that influence on the culture of our young club?

I feel the culture at MFC is changing, has changed significantly for the better. Once something gets ingrained in a team it takes a long time to change. I don't think the current lot under Bailey will be in a mood to relax once they start winning and get a few goals in front. I'm looking forward to a much more ruthless winning culture. Discipline within the playing group is important, Didak would be a risk imo. But he's too good for Collingwood to let him go, I'm guessing.

Let 'em keep him.

ok this is telling tales out of school, but Didak was spotted out clubbing Saturday night as well. What's happened is tip of the iceberg.

No way, not even for free! We are building a new culture at MFC. History suggests that Didak thumbs his nose at authority / team rules, and is incapable of learning by his mistakes. Imagine the message his recruitment would send to our youngsters!

I think in judging Didak, we should stick to the facts that we know about.

It's not like the Melbourne Footy Club doesn't have it's own characters who participate in stupid activities, and to act like it only happens in Collingwood is not only foolhardy, but naive.

Anything you say about this player, you must be prepared to back up again with if it happens to a Dees player.

FWIW, i agree that they should get rid of him because this is exactly why they have won 1 Premiership in 50 years. All that matters is a bit of onfield ability, with no proper strcuture or culture underneath and if they're serious about rebuilding, they'll delist him.

Here's some non KP players that could play in our mid/forward half.

Which one would we be prepared to drop for Didak.

McLean, Sylvia, Morton, Buckley, Davey, Wonaeamirri, Maric.

IMO not one! Not even Hi-ho.

Stuff Didak!

Of Course they can sack him.. and it is beleived that his new contract has no behavioural conditions, but his existing one still does..

I do agree with you though RR, they would trade him if anything.

Anyway, i was just asking the question, will be interesting to see how it plays out!

I understand the terms of his new contract has superceded his old one.

Even if he his new contract does not start until after the old one finishes, if he is sacked under old contract the terms of his new contract will still apply from the date of its commencement. So the Pies would still be liable for terms of the new contract.

So I doubt sacking him is either legally sensible or commercially responsible.

NO for me..

It is a shame though, I think he has more natural skill than just about any player in the game. He is a delight to watch when he has the football.

Clubbing is ok, its the trouble that they find themselves in that is not ok.

Ditto. Keep him away from Hi Ho.

Didak's days are numbered.

No. We already have Wonna, Sylvia, Robbo who play small forward. He's overrated and only considering to be such a great player because he plays for the magpies.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
