Cale really ought to get nominated this week; if he doesn't there's something wrong with the process. He's clearly had a better year than half the other nominees so far in 2008.

And next week I would nominate Addam Maric. The speed with which he moves onto the footy, the precision with which he hits teammates, the way he finds space, the cleanness of his hands - they are all similar to Cotchin.

If Maric plays a couple of blinders next 2 weeks and somehow gets nominated, then he will also be eligible next year.

Moloney is the only player i know of that won a rising star and was traded. I didn't count him on Geelong's list, and I put him on our list.

Armstrong isn't on either list, From memory he won it in 2002. I have only counted since 2004.

I just had a look at the 2002 and 2003 rising stars. Hawks and Geelong feature heavily... you could argue that their current form is due largely to these nominated players hitting an optimum age. Project our nominated players forward a few years.... . you get the idea.
