I'd need to see it worn i think.

I still don't see why we need a third colour. Kangas don't have a third colour, neither do the Cats. The Blues inverse their colours. Why do we need a third colour?

Yeah can't say I like that new design much either would much prefer the inverted colour example that was on another demonland thread. Even an all red design with blue MFC logo in the centre would be better not a fan of the white really to much like Sth Melb/Sydney, much better than the silver though.

Is this the new idea, it's pretty good. If we have to have white this works really well

why not just have plain red jumper with the blue mfc logo and blue numbers? why bother with the silver at all?

Absolutley Agree.

I don't see why the need for the white in the jumper at all.

I agree with the others who are saying that an all red number with the navy blue monogram would be sufficient to cover any possible clash with existing clubs.

Well if we were to play Essendon, and it was our home game what would happen? All Essendon appear to have in the way of a clash jumper is a broadened red sash. So why aren't the AFL holding them to the same standard?

I don't mind that jumper, but to my eyes, there would still be a clash with St.Kilda. The inverted red and blue design seems like the best option.

I like the white as a link to our past. And great for signatures!

Because we've got no money!

That article does also say that there will be 3 new designs submitted to the AFL, and the members will be involved. Let's just hope that this time they make some designs and give us a choice of designs, not a choice of horrible colours that none of us would ever have wanted.

Bring back the red jumper with the blue demon across the front...

...oh that's right, we no longer have a mascot!

I can't see why it isnt all red either, with the blue MFC, even if it is against Essendon. We wore the Red with the Demon against Essendon in the past - even had a couple of wins with it (ie Neita's 250th). Get rid of the white!

As long as Essendon and Richmond are allowed to have what they call a clash jumper we should not even consider introducing a third colour.

We have all this talk about strengthening our brand, well part of that is brand is the colours of red and blue, it's even in our club song. I just think it will weaken this brand we are trying to promote.

I couldn't care less about the white we wore in 1860, from 1870 we have been red and blue and they have been Melbourne coulours for longer than the majority (if not all, unsure) of the clubs have been around.

My issue with the current jumper isn't the design. I don't have any great issues with how it looks my only problem is seeing my team play football in it, it's just not Melbourne. I don't care if it's silver, white, green, ornage, pink, purple etc. If it's not red or blue it shouldn't be on a Melbourne guernsey.

I'm very disappointed with the today's article, it looks as if we are going to be pushed around by the AFL with this matter, i was hoping things would change with this club and we could become significant again.

I believe the AFL FORCED us to have a third colour this year, due to a possible clash with Sydney i think. Personally i think that that's an absolute load, i can't see why they rejected the red and blue inverted strip.

Possible clash with Sydney? I reckon that's absolute crap as well.

We have never had problems at all with Sydney, ever. We only change our socks, away, thats it. We always wear the same traditional jumper.

The only person i know who has a problem with a clash of jumpers when playing Melbourne is Stevie Wonder

Its getting to be an embarrasment to be honest

if they insist on an away jumper why not just INVERT the jumper

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
