some of the frees he got were stunning. at one point he was on his knees and we grabbed him around the waist and he got a free for it.

think he had 6 before half time.

I think we should be looking at why our midfielders dont play more like Luke Ball. He gets the free kicks coz he is first to the ball and attacks the ball harder than anyone else. Not to mention he had at least 2 or 3 frees from holding the ball where he laid great tackles. Lets not be sore losers and pretend we got hard done by the umpires. Hopefully our young guys in the middle will have learnt a lot from Luke Ball today.

I have no problems with ball-winners getting looked after by the umps, except for the one where Ball was chest-bumped and threw his head back to earn the free...

Holding the ball is destroying AFL football and promoting players who are consistently 2nd to the ball. See Tim Lane's article in yesterday's age for the perfect summation of what is wrong with the current 'interpretation'.

I was watching the Freo vs Power game last evening and was very surprised to see that the holding the ball rule and in the back appeared to be very different from a week ago!!

Players being carried forward in the tackle and being adjudged to be holding the ball or even pushed right in the middle of the back but had not disposed of the ball correctly!!

The umpires are paid reasonably well to do a job but unfortunately, a bad bounce sees an umpire sacked whereas a poor decision sees them get another week...

all we as supporters are after is consistency and at the moment, this is an area that they are failing terribly!!

    UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

    Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft.     Demonland Trackwatchers ventured down to Gosch's Paddock for the final week of training for the 1st to 4th Years until they are joined by the rest of the senior squad for Preseason Training Camp in Mansfield next week.
