  1. Past hour
  2. In any other circumstances I'd denounce the name Tigga, but in this case I really want them to play a game just for the novelty value.
  3. Yes but speed is only good if you have the ball or get it 30 occasions in a match and unfortunately (much as I would like Billy to) he just keeps coming up short. as also he stops play and doesn't have he footy smarts to switch or a short kick Could someone please do s check on his handball/kick ratio. Very low I imagine .
  4. Today
  5. Same here from Bris Vegas after seeing the 10 goal mauling of the Lions by the off the leash Pies. They would have only had 5/10 mins in the first quarter of any doubt and they were in total control of the situation throughout really. Nearly every line had skill and pace and the belief looks so real it is going to carry them to mountain top or very very near again. i will be at the G on Sat (taking the road of nearly 30 years ago and done over the preceding 28 mostly cold and unsuccessful winters of the well worn Punt Rd and parking in Yarra Park) due to the South and Eastern train hiatus. And of course the highlight of the brilliant combination of sport and national history on Anzac Eve for the third successive time looms large as season shaping as we strive to claw back our tardy 2019 start. i suspect we have not given the Club, coaches and players (minus the dozen potential injured stars and soldiers albeit) the faith or benefit of doubt many manically resorting to the Same Old Melbourne tag. How dare we do this hopefully at our eternal peril as Peter Jackson has said many times our journey will have road blocks and we will have to learn to negotiate these. i believe we are still a work in progress young with too many VFL soldiers doing their Level best and we will be much better near seasons end than now as about a dozen stars and valuable B graders get us back to the potential shown in 2018. GO Dees (61 years on!)
  6. sure, i mean...why not? it's all a bit of fun on a messageboard.... i prefer to think of it in terms of list - who'll still be on it in 2023, at the start of the next tv rights deal? likely still on the list: may (turns 31 in 2023) salem (28) harmes (28) petracca (27) viney (29) lever (27) spargo (24) brayshaw (27) gawn (31 on dec 31, 2022) oliver (26) hannan (29) preuss (28) hunt (27) fritsch (27) uncertain (let's say half of them are still on the list at the start of 2023; i've highlighted a guess of a dozen still with us): bedford (23) hibberd (33) stretch (27) kolodjashnij (28) frost (30) melksham (32) vandenberg (31) jordon (23) kennedy harris (28) nietschke (23) o mac (27) neal-bullen (27) sparrow (23) baker (25) hore (27) petty (24) jetta (33) j wagner (29) j smith (27) chandler (23) c wagner (26) lockhart (23) walker (28) keilty (28) bradtke (23) unlikely: jones (35) lewis (37) maynard (32) garlett (34) t smith (32) so, here's round 1, 2023 (give or take end of trade / draft period of the next four years, natch, player fitness, etc., etc.)... B: Jetta - May - Lever HB: Salem - Petty - Fritsch 😄 Harmes - Brayshaw - Hannan HF: Petracca - T Mac - Hunt F: Preuss - Weideman - Melksham Foll: Gawn - Oliver - Viney I/c: Spargo - Sparrow - Lockhart - J Smith Emerg: Frost - Hore - C Wagner - Bradtke tbh, it's not wildly different from now - the 14 or so who should, hopefully, still be with us are core players of our team now, with virtually four full seasons ahead of them of course, some of them may choose to retire after winning four premierships in a row from 2019-2022 inclusive.........
  7. How many strikes does he have?
  8. i played with rowell and anderson two of the top prospects at school and they are seriously talented. easily will go 1 and 2
  9. The last time we played the Aints we had an extra slow mid field rotation running with Tyson in. While not super fast this time around either we have a mid field that is more settled now without those constant Tyson ins/outs every once in a while which made us extra slow in the middle IMO and drew more attention / tackles / pressure from the opp mids making it even harder for all concerned to clear the congestion to our advantage as often as we usually would (with Tyson out). In addition Petty came in for his one and only game and was severely exposed and out of sorts down back. It was his first game but it was a horror and unfortunately for him and us it effectively left us a man short down back. Saints saw this and confidence went through the roof. They new if they could get it down there quickly enough they would have a great chance of converting. They also new Oscar and Louis weren't quick enough to cover off for Petty if the ball came in quickly. Hore seems like a much more likely prospect so far and less likely to be severely exposed. We also have a different look with the twin towers in plus Frosty able to run lines off HB, close down on his opponent quickly and Hunt providing some zip leading into space up forward along with some chase down pressure. My biggest concern is Spargo over Jeffy. With Pruess in we need someone to play a specialist crumbing role off the big man (as well as Big M if resting there) as well as pressuring and running down opponents to lock the ball in. This is a perfect Jeffy cameo role in the offing. He knows where the goals are and loves to kick em. He has big men to feed off....the incentive is there and the rewards very enticing if he works hard enough. Hopefully we don't look back and regret this decision and we are running away with it well nearing the final siren. If it comes down to a few points, like the last time we played them, this might end up being a significant error by Goody & the FD. Spargo will need to play a very special game to justify being picked in front of Jeffy. Finger's and toes crossed he brings it.
  10. Don't speak too soon. Razor Ray is booked in for Saturday. But David Rodan is one of the goal umpires. Hope Melbourne gives him plenty to smile about. Love his reaction when Melbourne kicks a goal.
  11. Deal with Collingwood at your peril.
  12. The BEST thing about this game was that they managed to take up three DH's on the one plane to umpire this game. Thereby ensuring that we will not get them in our game this week. They were deplorable Two terrible decisions in the first qtr. One hit the post obviously and another went over the line, called a goal and yet was touched beforehand. Brisbane were crucified.
  13. nah, pies have been long past us for a long, long time - we used to be the two biggest clubs in the competition by a big, big stretch same number of flags since 58 (three apiece) but umpteen dozen gf appearances for them and continued strength as a club over an extended period of time whilst we have floundered on and off the field but if yr talking recent times, they only went past us on-field on prelim final day last year - they won, we didn't they are currently playing a great brand of footy tho, whereas we need to improve significantly to match last year's results
  14. Experience is sometimes under rated. The youngsters may be fast, but their decision making can be poor, making them look like they are panicking under pressure. Now runners are not allowed on the ground, a player like Lewis can be invaluable to guide and settle the troops. From what Goodwin said, this is the role he is expected to do. I am not unhappy with his inclusion.
  15. Sure, but I'm more interested in us getting a FA this year so we can get away from giving up 1st round picks. Coniglio anyone?
  16. What, because they beat Brisbane? A side which hasn't made the finals since 2009?
  17. We're better in the back half with Lewis and Jetta in it and with OMac out of it. I feel for Stretch, only getting one crack at it, but he unfortunately didn't take much of his chance last week.
  18. Am I the only one totally unexcited to see old man Lewis back in the team? Too slow!
  19. Round 23 2017 - the day the Collingwood footy club went past the MFC.
  20. You were paying more attention than i was rjay!
  21. Honestly, does this thread need to be updated every second week?
  22. If you went to the game, you’d reconsider on Hore - he was an absolute Jet!
  23. A decision in a point in time - whilst he hasn’t set the world on fire as of yet - he’s certainly demonstrated the cool head and the correct I50 disposals that Jeffy could only muster when we went end to end. I assume the FD considered a grubby pressure F50 (given the lack of quality St Kilda Rucks) where physicality - not running into an open F50 - is required. Sadly, Jeffy has struggled with that to date. Spargo for me!
  24. Omac dropped. I didn't see that coming. I got it wrong on him not being dropped this year. He'll be back soon enough. Probably come in as an emergency this week.
