Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Sheedy a missed opportunity

The way to get members and sponsors is onfield success.

sheedy would be good for MFC brand. this is not a reason to get a coach. if we wouldv started to lose next season, sheedy's brand will already be deteriating.

we should get the coach who will be the best coach, not the best at getting publicity.

and btw, all my mates who are essendon supporters say that sheedy was past it 3 years ago and that they would laugh if he went to MFC. dont just get a coach bc of his name.

if bailey was more impressive than sheedy he must be bloody impressive. we dont know about him much yet, but considering who he beat out for the job, we can take faith that he must be good

would you accept a premiership within 7 years right now? Because Sheedy's average suggest he would deliver a premiership.

Probably the stupidest thing i have read all year. in 1965 we would have averaged a permiership every 5.6 years. Did that ever come?

Sheedy never respected the MFC. he wanted the job so he could turn a once proud club into a powerhouse.

Now that we have overlooked him as coach, he will see us as the laughing stock of the AFL

And rightly so

You are joking I hope. Biff was a great Demon who played full forward and full back and several other positions and always gave 100% for the club and his team mates. He was tough as nails and had many scalps. Many opposition players were plain scared of him. If Biff was playing when Long did the dog act on Simmonds in the 2000 GF Long would have ended up unconscious. He was one of my favourites in an ordinary side. Please don't knock Biff he deserves better.

Completely Agree.

BTW Chris Connelly has had a few knockers too, during this process.

A good bloke and a great player.

If he hadnt gone down with shakey knees I believe he would have been a MFC legend, not quite Robbie standard but at least as good as Gary Lyon.

I hope we find some way to get him back to the club.

YM you have no clue.

you just wanted sheedy so we get more publicity.

did u ever consider that he isnt the best coaching prospect? clearly Bailey was a better coaching prospect. if he's better than sheedy then he must be bloody good.

sheedy last 5 years- 40% winning ratio. recruited Cole, Heffernan, Camporeale...the guy has slowly lost the plot. essendon supporters have known it for year, and you should learn it too.

noone doubts sheedy is a legend coach and a great marketer. he is still a great marketer, but is he still a good coach?

As far as Demon players go he was ok, and certainly all you describe. That said, I want far better.

How do you know that Bailey is mediocre?

Exactly right. If anyone thinks that this is a conservative, then they better leave Pluto and come back down to Earth. Trying virtually an 'unknown' is the most unpredictable thing the MFC could have done here. Too conservative, my ass it is. This is a bloody bold and daring move, something the MFC need more of.

For all those out there that are knocking our new coach, lets just wait and see how he goes. Just be thankful Connolly wasn't appointed. However i wouldn't mind seeing him in a marketing role at the Dees.

This from the guy who wanted Brett Ratten... someone with less coaching experience than Dean Bailey.

No

When there is a coach available that has won 4 flags, whilst the other candidates have done sweet [censored] all, I think it is a fair to say the giuy with 4 flags at the elite level is the best coach

Now please edit your post so that it says you have no clue, cos if anyone on this board knows footy it is me

I'm disappointed that we missed an opportunity that will never present itself again. Bailey may or may not turn out to be a great coach, but Sheedy is still the master. People go on about 40% win-loss ratios -if you take the last 2 years in isolation its actually much worse than that, but so what? You assess a person and a career over the entire journey. His record over 27 years is at 61% with 4 flags. He will retire with 2 flags less than Norm Smith but a better winning ratio. He has coached in a much more difficult era to win flags (esp for Vic clubs). The guy is a genius and like most greats his achievements will only be fully appreciated when he has finished up. I hope Bailey can coach, but fcs can we please find somebody to market the club? I predict no discernible move in membership next year, but with a better run with injury we may move up the ladder a bit. Bailey has no real playing record to stand on so I hope his leadership qualities are sufficient for him to gain the respect of the current list.

Anyway, I'll continue to turn up to every Vic game as I have since 1980 and watch how it all unfolds!

Oh, FFS. What indication in the slightest is there that Bailey is "mediocre"? He was the panel's recommendation after an exhaustive process, and he knocked off two well-known coaches for the position, one a 'legend' of the game. His presentations and game analyses were supposed to have been exceptional.

If you don't want to now throw your support behind Bailey, as far as I'm concerned you can go and get gutted ... somewhere else!

Well said Maurie Lithen, Bailey must have done well in his interviews to be a unanimous decision. It's amazing that some people are criticising him before he has even started the job. Very, very negative thinking indeed.

Your brother in law.

A Saints supporter.

Lyon as the comparison.

Guess that's it then. Better ring Bailey and tell him he's no longer got the job.

Haha, so does mine, but only because Dad and I have gone on and on and on about what we might do if he is selected to be head coach.

I think she's just happy we'll shut up about it now!

Everyone is an armchair critic, everyone loves to have an opinion, and that's fine.... unless you barrack for St.Kilda, the most unsuccessful football club on this planet.

The difference is that Ross Lyon came from a successful club that plays a crap style of football, Bailey comes from a successful club that plays an exciting style of football. Bailey is not being hailed the new messiah, (except maybe by the supporters) he is being hailed as the best person for the coaches job at our club at this time.

Just for curiosity, who did your brother in law want for the Saints job and ours?

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
