Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This is one week where winning should be the only priority.

In: McLean, Bizzell, P Johnson, Bate (if fit)

Out: Bode, Frawley (inj), Jamar, Ferguson

Key match-ups: Holland on Rocca, Carroll on Cloke, Bell on Didak

Why out Fergusson/Jamar...Both played a good part last night

it says on injuryupdate.com.au that brock will miss 1-2 matches with a groin. :(

With the way the boys played against the bulldogs last night i would leave the team as it is and keep playing the youngstars, however if frawley doesn't pull up then bring Bate in for him (if fit)

Not so sure Bate will pull up if he didn't play for Sandy this weekend.

And before he was injured he was very average. There'd be a few others I'd put before him to play a part in such a huge game.

I'd even prefer to see Yze in playing alongside his longtime friend and teammate but if we're going for a win, then my choices would be:

In: McLean (if not fit, then Buckley), Garland (from all accounts seems to be deserving of a spot, and we are all about 'playing the youngsters' ;) )

Out: Moloney (only because I agree with YMs sentiments - he should be rested for the remainder of the season or he will do some serious damage), Frawley (injured)

I really wouldn't like to see too many more changes made than that as Saturday night's performance really was a group effort and it was difficult to isolate top performances, with the exception of Jones.

Thought Bode played well last night given it was his first match. His tackling is great.

In: McLean, Buckley

Out: Frawley (inj.), Brown (was good in patches last night, but his kicking is killing me!).

Brown was close to BOG. Its a harsh call. While Bode just went.

If you want to win against the Pies, you drop them. On the other hand if you want to lose........

Yes Bode just went, but he'd been in the best for Sandy for weeks on end. I'd give him more of an opportunity to rise to the pace of the game before dropping him back. By the same token, Buckley had been ordinary for weeks in the firsts, but went back to Sandy and looked a class above. You could argue a case either way; reward him for some very good form, or leave him at Sandy to consolidate it.

After Saturday night we have as much chance of seeing Brown dropped as we do of seeing Nathan Jones dropped. His game was as good as they come. He stays in.

I have no preference for Jamar over PJ. IMO Jamar was okay on Saturday night and Collingwood's second string rucks are average. PJ at this point looks like he may be the superior player, however like old55 I've not completely written Jamar off.

In the absense of Rivers and now Frawley we have a key back position available for one of the NQRs to fill. Bizzell is my preference over Ferguson. Both are "tall backs" who can "play forward" (i.e. they're ordinary backmen and worse forwards), but to me Bizzell is the lesser of two evils.

Are we expecting Bate back?

Why not Garland?

I know we desperately want to win this match, but we still shouldn't lose sight of the bigger picture.

Garland was named in the bests for Sandy, Bizzell wasn't.

And I know Brown won't get dropped, I'm just hoping.

His low kicks send me into a fit of rage. Just kick the ball a bit higher Browny, PLEASE!!!

We also need to look at how Collingwood will line-up.

I'm worried about Cloke. Do we play Carroll on him?

Dutchy on Rocca and Bell to give Didak a spanking again.

I think Miller might be back this week, especially if Frawley doesn't come up.

I actually forgot about Garland. That said I don't think there's much to be gained by playing him again at this point. Let him slowly build his confidence and skill set at Sandringham, that's why we have the alignment.

Playing kids who aren't ready yet is like trying to start a car in 4th gear. Sure, you eventually reach top speed, but it takes a lot longer and it's a pretty bumpy ride along the way.

I disagree completely.

Playing youngsters before they are ready fast-tracks their development significantly. They might struggle for a few games, but in the long-run a player who gets runs with the seniors will develop quicker than a player that rots away at sandy.

people do not realize what a massive skill level and pace difference their is between vfl and afl. it's like playing 2 different sports afl is that much better standard. young players gain alot from senior experience and it really bugs me when people outrightly declare that theyd prefer to see pickett and brown in the team ahead of Buckley, Dunn and Garland when our season was over 8 weeks ago and have openly declared we are playing for 2008 and beyond.

All in all, I want our best side in against the Pies. I want to destroy them!

They have a young team & it's proving costly now at seasons end. We need our strongest, most reliable team for Friday night.

B: Brown Carroll Bell

HB: Wheatley Holland Green

C: Johnstone McDonald Moloney

HF: Pickett Newton Davey

F: Bate Neitz Robertson

RR: White McLean Jones

Int: Jamar, Bizzell, Sylvia, Miller

Emg (from): Buckley, P. Johnson, C. Johnson, Garland

I believe with this side in, we should get over the line.

Worn out record! Jaded, did you watch Brown closely on Sat night? I took particular note of his kicking and there were very few times he didn't hit his target. Give him a break, and focus on his guts and determination. You could never contemplate dropping him after last week.

Brown wont be dropped. He played well on the weekend, and has been giving his all in this bleak season. He will definately be there for his good friend Neita's 300th, and likely play every game left this season, then probably retire at the end of the year.

Brown was sensational on the weekend, no way in the world does he get dropped

He will be there on Friday night vs the Filth, giving his all for the skipper and for the Red and Blue

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
