Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Davey gets 2 weeks

Aaron Davey has been given two weeks for his retaliatory strike as reported on SEN. Hopefully he learns his lesson. I thought he'd only get a week. We will miss his speed but at least we aren't fighting for a finals spot.

Meanwhile, in keeping with its policy of protecting those who hit Melboune taggers, Simon Black got a reprimand for his whack on Godfrey.

From the AFL:

Aaron Davey, Melbourne, has been charged with striking Troy Selwood, Brisbane Lions, during the first quarter of the Round 15 match between Melbourne and the Brisbane Lions, played at the Gabba on Saturday July 14, 2007.

In summary, his carry-over demerit points from within the last 12 months means that his sanction cannot be reduced from the two-game penalty on offer.

The incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), medium impact (two points) and body contact (one point). This is a total of six activation points, resuling in a classification of a Level Three offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-game sanction. He has no existing good or bad record. He has 93.75 demerit points carried over from within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 318.75 points and a three-game sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 239.06 points and a two-game sanction.

Deserves it. Disappointing, we can't afford to lose any more of our "senior" players. Hope he gets a huge kick up the arse from the club.

Will Black's reprimand put him out of the Brownlow?

I believe so.

seems like a contradiction in terms to me. if he offended in the last 12 months i assume he has a bad record in that period?

Did he just get demerit points instead of a suspension? I'm not sure.

As for the suspension, we have nothing when it comes to crumbing forwards so it's rather frustrating that Davey is suspended, particularly considering our injury list.

As others have said, I hope this is the catalyst for some changes.

demerit points still means he did something wrong meaning bad record...

regarding small forwards, you're right, we struggle in that dept. id like to see buckley or even CJ tried in that role this week. im afraid that it might get byron back in the side to play in the forward line...

This has been on the cards for about 6 weeks with Davey, he's been getting more and more frustrated and giving away soft free kicks. Hopefully the holiday will calm him down a bit.

Brilliant lack of ability to shake a tag & just let anyone or thing get under his skin. Davey for Goose of the week.

I knew this would happen. He most definately deserved a suspension. It was completely undisciplined. BUT going on the incredibly soft precedence the MRP have set this season I can't believe he got 2 weeks. How did they decide that was medium impact? It should have been low impact, and if that still makes it over 2 weeks then so be it but I think it is a stupid classification. There have been a lot more harmful or potentially harmful incidents that have been completely ignored by the MRP this year. He deserved a week - nothing more.

Does anyone remember the incident he got the reprimand for? According to fanfooty, charging Matt Thomas (port) this year.

im glad davey got 2 weeks. teaches him a lesson. Aaron is the most undisciplined player at Melbourne. He has not self control and lets taggers get the better of him. There is one way to play Aaron Davey and that is get into his head at the start of the game, step on his feet, pinch him, push him. he cant handle it. His attitude and discipline has been exploited by many teams and last weeks performance against Brisbane will set a precident for taggers to play on Davey. Just ask Steven Baker.

A Shame for flash. Hi sub par season was turning around after a few solid games. A two week layoff could be a set back for him building good form.

If you will hit on camera, you have to wear it!

Yeah it was one of those late bumps after Thomas took the mark. It warranted a reprimand nothing more.

I'm so angry at Davey, as he seems like a nice bloke off the field. I really don't know how their going to solve his anger management issues.

Here's hoping they bring Pickett back for his 200th against his old mob. Although with Robbo's 200th you'd think the club will make it his day only.

While Robbo's application on the ground annoys me, at least he shows an affiliation and love of the Club (sometimes in his own way). It would be a slur to Robbo to have to share his special achievement with someone who has cheated the team and just taken the money during his time at MFC.

Pickett should earn his spot in the team. He's the last person I would give a "charity game" to.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
