Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Video of Voss, Lawrence, Gehrig - St.Kilda bar fight

I don't think any of us should pretend to know the absolute reality of this situation......

And given we are basing our assumptions of Voss's character on this particular video, has it been doctored or altered in any way for media purposes?

We have absolutely no answer to that, and given no-one seems to know where the hell it came from this actuality is not completely out of the question.

As in my opinion there is way too much that we simply don't know. About this or about him  !!!

Reading your take on this is like wading through treacle. You make it sound complicated when its not.

I have not seen any example of anyone here has pretended to know anything more than what has been made public.

I believe that any assumption we had of Voss' character prior to this incident was extremely positive. No one from our side of the fence saw this coming, or did we? Hence the alarm bells.

The incident was captured on the POW secuirty CCTV. Commercial venues have them. Theres your answer.

The images cannot be doctored. Only footage can be erased. What are you trying to say? If im not mistaken, you infact sound like youre defending Voss?

Provocation or not, his actions were reckless, stupid and irresponsible. There are no excuses. He is very lucky that the outome was no worse. Anyone remember David Hookes?

BTW QC, have you heard of the the KISS principle?

David Hookes? While I understand your reference, just who is making what factually happened more complicated that it needs to be?

And for the record you may not agree with my take on things Alan, but please don't condescend to me. I am some ignorant fool

(and this is unfortunately not the first time you have belittled my comments either).

My opinion it just that, it is not necessarily or absolutely right or wrong, but neither is yours, despite what you seem to think.

And I am certainly not defending Voss for his actions on that night, but I will always try to give people a second chance if they make a mistake, especially in this circumstance since it does appear to be a one-off indecent, and therefore I will not condemn him for life for the horrible happening.

But if you could actually try to understand what I wrote instead of just patronizing it, then you would have read that we have no true idea what actually happened (unless of course you have first hand account of the event) and footage can always be altered if the press want us to see a particular thing.

I don't know if this happened or not. But it is not a complete impossibility.

So therefore instead of totally condemning him, and without further thought just write off every other skill, ability and positive attribute he may have, I believe that we should wait for the eventual outcome of the investigation and proceedings. And if your "simple" answer is the right one, then so be it.

I didn't like what I saw and would never condone violent behavior (having been on the end of it in the very recent and quite distant past for very different reasons) but there is always more to every situation than the simple back and white. That is life, simple would be great, but not always accurate.

And despite what some on here seem think of him now, I am pretty sure that he will still be looked at for the job anyway.

You missed my point. As with the 'Voss & esteemed company' mob attack , Hookesy was involved in an incident not dissimilar. The end result was tragic. It could easily have happened again.

The whole incident was ugly, stupid & cannot be condoned. Voss is particulary disappointing as whilst under scrutiny he publicly stated to being satisfied with his actions. A smug & foolish comment. Put simply, it opens another window into the psyche of someone who has fast become a character of questionable repute.

Anything else said is utter tish.

In your opinion, and that is not gospel......

And for heavens sake stop making out that anyone who doesn't automatically throw Voss away like used garbage condones what happened that night.

I realise that it makes your stance more appealing if we are seen as sympathetic to violent outbursts.

But that is just ignoring what has been written. No-one here condones what we saw happen.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
