Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Buckely making it onto the extended bench means he'll debut in the next month. Exciting stuff!

Don't reckon we'll go with 3 talls on the bench, but i agree Holland has to play to nullify Rocca. Maybe Frawley might be sent back to the 2s, although it wouldn't be my preferred option

Would it really hurt the coaching staff to put Michael Newton on the extended bench?

[censored] hell, give the kid some reward

I'm sure Buckley was named on the extended bench for a match a while ago, but never ended up surfacing on the ground.

I hope he does play though. Soon. :)

We could probably drop Frawley, although it won't do us any favours in the long run.

Rather rest Yze for another week, and play Frawley... even if it means playing him on the wing in bursts to create some more run.

If Davey doesn't come up for whatever reason, I have a feeling we'll see Buckley debut.

Am looking forward to Neita giving Wakelin the run around. And no Clement means Robbo should be free to run wild.

I still shake my head each week when i see D. Ward in the run on side.. id much rather he played left right out.. surely were at the stage where frawley or another youngster is getting big game experience

i think holland is a better option than frawley for rocca at theis stage and it is a toss up between those two for the last tall defensive spot. has rocca been playing close to goal or CHF? perhaps carrol could take him if he is close to goal letting frawley play instead of holland?

PJ and petterd are certainties and i think the last spot is between brown and yze. i think yze may be risked if davey doesnt get up but otherwise he might not be, remember he had suspected OP.

I'm fine with that side but the one thing that really surprised me was NO DUNN. Dunn was pretty unlucky to be dropped in the first place having been experimented with outside the forwardline for a few weeks. And now after playing a fantastic game at Sandy kicking 4 goals and against a side with only ONE tradition tall key position back, we have decided to pass over Dunn and go with ONE big key forward. We should be trying to expose their weakness. And even if Presti was playing, Dunn still deserves it IMO.

No need to change the side too much. The team has momentum and should continue with that confidence into the break.

If we're bringing back Holland, then the only player to drop is Frawley. I don't like seeing it, but at least Holland has some history on Rocca.

Unless completely match fit, I wouldn't bring Yze in. If he is, Yze for Brown. However I suspect that due to fitness the bench will look like this

PJ, Pettard, Brown, Holland

In: Holland

Out: Frawley (sadly)

But we can still make finals remember, so until that thought is all but an impossibility (we know it is), we'll have to wait until we see a bit more of a youth policy..

Why play Holland. The game has changed. Forwards take marks on the lead. Hardly ever see a Rocca type take a big strong pack mark. Carroll has the pace and strength to match Rocca and will kill him on the rebound.

The trend is to play smaller backs who can cut the oppo up. This concedes some marks etc but on balance considered worthwhile.

Frawley if he can bulk up a bit and maintain pace will be really good up back.

Holland would be a match up for the really tall ruck type playing in the forward pocket, eg Ottens.

Seems ND is developing PJ into a ruckman who can match these types and play in the backline.

I would take a punt and keep playing Frawley.

i dont think dunn came in because we werent going to drop any of our marking forwards - neitz, bate and robbo all kicked goals and did alright. if he kicks 4 or 5 more this week he'll have a pressing case. there is also no way we could fit dunn and newton into that side...

Id be disappointed if Pettard was dropped, he's hardly done anything wrong .

Almost certainly Yze for Brown. "Horses for Courses" matchup versus Collingwood - great record. Otherwise bench looks very defensive.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
