Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Demons set on snaring Judd

Recommended Posts

set on snaring him is a bit of an exaageration... any club would be willing to pay him a packet and give up a first round draft choice for him... good to know we're looking at him though...

True, but he didn't barrack for all these clubs as a kid.

Now before everyone bite my head off and say "oh, as if that makes a difference", when you are Chris Judd and you set your own terms, it matters a lot.

I can assure you that he is still holds aspirations for play for his old club, even if they are in the back of his mind hidden somewhere.

The bottom line is, Chris Judd will get what he wants, and if he wants to come home, I don't see why he wouldn't nominate Melbourne as one of his prefered clubs (and we'll be in a better position than most to trade, given where we are).

If we really think "who he supported as a kid" will make a difference, the I hope the club gets some ex-stars whom he would have looked upto to go over and talk to him like Lyon or Stynes. The club will need to be very strategic in its sales pitch bwcause it will not be alone in its desires to get him.

Has to be. Only question is whether it would be next year with Neita to step down or the year after. If you manage to get a premiership captain who also happens to be the best midfielder in the game I don't see how you go past him.

Love Brock but you wouldn't make a younger bloke captain ahead of Judd. Just for the record though, if we don't get Judd, Brock should be Vice-Captain next year (to Neitz) and Captain in 2009

I dont think that would be out of the question. But there is a lot to think about with such a move, such as how the rest of the playing group will respond (I would say favourably but you cant assume that) or would he even want to be in his first year at a new club. The desire to lead the team he supported as a kid to a flag might just be very tempting for him.

Looking for what ever competitive advantage we might have and what will differntiate our bid from the others is a good start.

I really think the club needs to be very strategic with the way it goes about any pitch and if not done right it could lose out because the competition for his services will be hot.

I agree with both you & Kit. I asked the question to seek confirmation of what I pretty much thought you getting at.

But as for differentiating our club from the pack (other than offering the Captaincy & an attractive $$ package) would be every sales reps Everest.

Not trying to sound negative, but under current circumstances, lets hope his personal ambitions and the lure of a new career challenge 'back home in Vic' will be enough for him to at least hear us out.

best idea ever! i remember in his brownlow speech that his hero was Jim Stynes! imagined Stynes flying over having a day out with Judd just them two together  judd coming to melbourne would be like David Backham living in Broadmedows!

funny...sems most overlooked the most interesting ( to me ) aspect of that article.

...."We have never traded away a first-round draft pick in Neale's (Daniher) tenure, that has always been a long-term projection of his."

Asked if that would change if Judd was available, Gardner said: "Probably...."

I am the only one who reads into that.. we either...'won't be doing things Neals's way any more' ..or maybe 'Neale isnt relevent in 2008'

just a thought.

Judd would be sooooooo good if he came. Not just when he plays for us but even after Judd will take brock under his wings and harden our team up. When pickett came to our club he added hardness and improved upon our tackling and if Judd came to our club he would improve hardness, skill, confidence, delivery into forward line, running hard and so many other things.

Imagine a midfield of the hardness of Judd, Brock, Jones, Moloney and occasionally Slyvia (when not in forward line), the sliky smooth skills of Judd, TJ, Green and Bruce, Fast running of Judd, Davey, Moloney, Bate and sooo many more we would have the ultimate mix with all our players improving.

I would give my left and right nut for Judd and i hope Craig Cameron will to!!!

if we are going to get judd, people must realize that one of bruce or Mclean will most probably have to be traded...

as much as a i love both players, neither are as good as Judd, and if it means trading them to get Judd then tough decisions must be made

True, but he didn't barrack for all these clubs as a kid.

Every AFL playa would've had a team they supported as a kid so it really doesn't mean much.

Once you get to a club, u make mates n fell comfortable, u become reluctant to leave.

It's really up to the Weagles if they can clean up their act as whether Judd stays or go?

Think you're reading way too much into that - possibly seeing what you want to see. There have not been too many times when the best player in the caper has been available over Daniher's tenure (not that Judd's necessarily going to be available - this is media / message board fuelled conjecture). If the best player in the caper is available, your usual rules go out the window. Hence Gardner's "Probably" response.

That's my take anyway.

Im sort of inclined to agree...however.. why mention it at all?? There was no real need to mention the first bit.. if only the second was inportant !! i.e..why qualify something neddlessly ? just struck me as strange thing to say

I believe getting Judd would revitalise the football club.

I would give up a first round pick, a second round pick, and just about any one player except McLean, Davey and Sylvia.

I have a dream..... A dream that Judd, in 08, WILL be in the red and blue.

(I actually did have a dream that he came)

But on a serious serious note. I have a mate, who goes to tafe with a guy that is family friends with Juddy. and apparently, (not saying it still is) that ever since Judd was a little fella, it has been an ambition of his to one day captain the mighty dee's to a grand final. Now don't everyone say that is bull#^* etc.. We have all heard that he went for the dee's when he was a kid. My mate is no liar. I believe it will happen. I believe he will nominate the dee's as his preferred club next year. That is all.. Davey's sugar daddy. Peace x

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin ventured down to Gosch's Paddock to bring you his observations from this morning's Captain's Run including some hints at the changes for our ANZAC Eve clash against the Tigers. There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
