Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Performances since the Bulldogs game proves we are a Top 8 Team.

The boys have responded to Daniher and if we didnt have injuries early Im convinced we would be further up the ladder.

So as far as im concerned I want Daniher to be in the top job.

I think Our recruiting hasn't been that bad, any club that can bring Davey, Brock, Sylvia, Petterd, Etc. to the club isn't doing a bad job. Maybe we just have to start recruiting some different type players.

What Im trying to say is I think all we need is a bit off a face lift rather than a Full Makeover. So Its maybe trade a couple and push on for 2008.

Can someone start a Poll, cause I dont know how to? Daniher for 2008 its yes for me, and its not because we just won.

What if we changed coach and made the wrong choice, that might put us back 3 years?

ND is 100% for this club, you can tell by watching him in the coaches box

Sure he has made mistakes and been slow sometimes in making changes, but I agree with Deano, the base is there for a strong second half of the season and a better one next year. If we win 8 /12 games from here on, who would not want him to continue. However if we only win another couple, we will have to repeat this poll at the end of the year

I personally think the "I want Daniher as coach" or "I want anyone but Daniher as coach" or "I want Person X as coach" attitude is extremely selfish.

All I ask for is that the board, AT THE END OF THE SEASON, sit down and do a full review of the FD and figure out what is the best way forward. I don't really mind what the outcome is, so long as I'm comfortable that the review was thorough and every possible avenue explored.

No person on the outer has enough facts to judge who would be the best coach for the coming seasons. That's why I think what we "want" is a moot point.

Fact:

- We can see the tactics that Daniher implements.

- We can see the players he chooses or doesn't choose to play.

- We can see the number of players he puts in the forward line.

- We can see the match ups he decides.

Fact: you don't know the reasoning or logic behind any of those decisions. You can only guess. You can also only guess as to what difference other players in the side might make.

Guessing doesn't cut the mustard I'm afraid.

It's not rocket surgery.

The decisions that Daniher makes seem to fail an awful lot and he does apparently know the "reasoning or logic" behind them.

It's funny that in three quarters of football (last quarter vs Kangaroos, second and third quarters against Adelaide) when Melbourne opt for a style of play that doesn't involve "tempo" or "runs and curry" and instead focuses on long kicks and fast movement into a forward line with forwards in it (it's crazy, I know) that Melbourne suddenly play well.

But Daniher does not employ these tactics more often.

If Daniher is coach next year, then I just hope that the Kangaroos win the flag because at least then he'll copy a game plan that suits Melbourne.

Who's to say Neale has tried to "copy" anyone? Before the season the coaching staff identified our weaknesses and tried to address them.

Look, you're entitled to your opinion of course, but I think you (and by you I mean many people, not just yourself Clint) are forming an opinion from your interpretation on about 1% of all the facts, the other 99% of which are unavailable to the general supporter. It's why I won't make a call on Daniher one way or the other, because I believe I don't know enough to fully understand the situation.

It's why I hope the board are thorough in their review at season's end. They have access to all the facts that I (we) don't.

We all (including you Nasher) make calls on players.

How is that any different?

I understand what you're saying, but when you go to the games and see how damn obvious the mistakes Daniher makes are, it's not hard to see where the heart of Melbourne's problems lie.

The calls we make on (our poor) players are just as subjective, and aren't necessarily well informed opinions either......

I agree with Nasher, that we don't have all the facts and our opinions on whether we want or don't want Daniher to coach next year are exactly that - our individual opinions. There are usually good reasons we have formed these opinions, but it doesn't make them automatically right or wrong.

As for whether I want to see Daniher re-signed for another year? I truly have no idea, because I can see and understand both sides of the argument that has been made here, there and everywhere. But I don't know the internal workings, just the external perceptions. FWIW my dad says no.

But at the end of the day it is worth remembering that one win can be a band aid, and doesn't change much, despite making us all feel better.

I think your the one being selfish, everyone has a right to express their feelings/thoughts on this as long as their not impinging on others by criticing them. Their saying how they personally feel without attacking you.

Why have a forum if all you'ld like to do is control people like your own puppets.

It isnt Daniher we need to get rid of. Its half the Football Department and some of the players. As talked about on triple M yesterday....accepting mediocrity has been our problem since 1964. We have to change and become tougher, harder and cannot accept mediocrity.

Daniher. with the right list, and the right people around him will be the key to our success. We have got the young talent coming through

Delist - Ward, Wheatley(sorry- even though he played awesome yesterday, he's got to go, too inconsistent...better giving a younger guy a game then wheatley), Holland, Ferguson, Godfrey

Trade- White if possible, Miller

Green was good yesterday, so too Brucey- we can't get rid of them because when we have everyone in..we have one of the best midfields in the comp- Bruce, Mclean, McDonald, Green, Johnstone, Jones, Moloney

Good to see Melbourne will be having a crack at getting Judd, and other big name players out of contract- we have to be much more pro-active during trade week.

Ignore my signature i will change it..we can't get rid of Daniher..because we need to replace him with someone better..and there won't be anyone better because how do we know Longmire or Harvey will make a difference.

DEES FOR 2008 and BEYOND!!!!!!

we all commend his dedication.. not a question. Its his suitability to a role to take MFC to a flag, it comes down to ability...on many fronts. The record is not good, thats just a reality. All coaches are faced with various situations and circumstances, some coerce the lads into getting the job done...others...well others lose; its as simple as that really.

ND bleeds fr this club so bad! if u have watched his face reactions this year you woukd see why.

keep him for next year! he is our top man for the job

no doubt.

ND has been brilliant in some aspect (promoting mfc in the media, preparation of the team, passion for the cause) and deserves respect and dignity from not only officials but also the fans.

However, i do think we are in the same position we were ten years ago. We are still being called soft and despite statements, we still have trouble putting teams away and we lose to teams we shouldn't.

Maybe ND is too much of a friend to his playas and ain't hard enuf?

Maybe he has 2 much faith his boys will come good?

Whatever the case mfc needs a coach who accepts no bull.

Like i said, ND deserves respect but he should get his gold watch.

He's been a wonderful coach, but he's only gotten us so far. 10 years of winning stuff all is enough time for any coach. I acknowledge his tremendous efforts, but it's time to move on.

I retract my previous comments. The talent pool in AFL is such a shallow one. It's not like we're talking British Premier League here, where there's all of Europe to chose from with an abundance of coaches with proven track records, or American Sports, where there's heaps of College coaches ready to make the big leagues.

ND is a quality coach. I personally don't think he can bring us a flag, but there are other variables that hinder us that are out of Danihers control.

Lol its rocket science or brain surgery honey.

I am with you. We would be shooting ourselves in the foot if we lost him. The crap we saw in the last quarter yesterday even he didnt like it. In his post mach interviews he spoke a lot about the supporters, he is always looking at the big picture for the club not just winning. Love ur work ND.

"I can say without a doubt this has been the best win of the season" Got a chuckle from me

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
