Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Brad Green to play Goddards roll

Why doesn't Neale Daniher play Brad Green as a permanent loose defender who can sweep the defence and offer run from half back. He is no good in the midfield and can only play forward or back.... Stop wasting our time playing him in the midfield... I can see him as a dead ringer like Goddard and dominating across half back and add one extra player in out weakest link our backline...

It would rejuvenate his career as he is surely at the crossroads like a lot of our players.

Very good idea.

I think Brad Green is ineffective in the midfield. He does have a habit of racking them up, but never seems to influence a game.

We are a lot better off having Green rebound from our defensive 50 than Brown and Ward. At least has the skill to hit a target.

Having said all that I'd be worried about Green limiting Petterd's development. Petterd seems to have the footy nous to set us up through the middle. I would not like Green to take his spot on the half back line.

Our defence is a major cause for concern. The defence doesn't seem to operate at all without Rivers. Carroll and Bell are both hit and miss. At least Green could provide some consistency.

A possible backline could be:

B: Bell/Carroll, Frawley, Whelan

HB: Green, Rivers, Petterd

Brown and Ward have had their turn. Time to move on!

have been advocating this all year!!!

played this role against freo in the fial, and i thought he did very well

his skill and poise would be a benefit, as well as add some more experience down back, to help petterd, bartram, frawley and the rest of the young guys grow

His best games from last year were probably the ones where he played that role. He's better running out of defence, or leading from a vacant forward-line.

yeah agreed, i liked him as the loose defender as well, and his skills were good on the counter he was able to set up quick, flowing counter-attacks. it could be part of what our team needs to get moving in the righ direction again.

either loose defence or leading forward. can't see a place for him in the middle

Yes well since we all agree on this surely someone in the Demons coaching box can also acknowledge this and put it into place.

It cant be that hard.

You would think having all or most of us agree on anything (at least in principle) is hard enough.......

But to actually get the coaching department to do it, that would be a whole new level of difficult  !!!

I think the Green should be played in the forward line or on a wing. Preferably rotating between both. He may get a lot of kicks in the backline but I don't think he is nearly as damaging. The same goes for Davey.

That idea however, which also has a hell of a lot of merit, doesn't seem to be happening either.......

I'd like to see Green spend a lot more time in the forward line, and it will be interesting to see how another coach will use Brad in the future. I don't like his field kicking, but if he gets back to spending a fair portion of his game time in the forward line, I'd imagine we'll see the valuable sharpshooter we had from 2000-02 return.

I'm of a similar mind loons. I think he is most valuable forward. His move to the midfield has added more strings to his bow, but unless we have our best midfield playing his usefulness is markedly decreased , he can still move back there, but I'd like to see more flexibility in our forward setup.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
