Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

 It will be a very brave board to give Daniher another contract. The likely hood of sitting at 0-11 is very real and injuries aside the team is playing like crap and our so called leaders always go missing. Too many times have we seen long lossing streaks and the same old rehtoric that comes from Daniher & players that we need to do this & that etc enough is enough.

Its time for a new direction with different ideas and a different voice that will make the changes that are required. I look at the spirit of how the Kangaroos are playing with all their financial issues but yet they find a way. And when I look at my team Iam emberassed and ask what is it that makes Melbourne play the way it plays.

We have posters on this site saying we should continue to go with Daniher and I say do we risk another 2-3 yrs with a bloke who just cant address the mental toughness issue?

I think even Danners knows he cant take this side any further... which is disapointing because the players owe him abit more IMO.. The players gotta take some blame for there own form. Cant be just the coach.. major clean out on the cards i think..

If the coach goes, so will 5-6 players. If the coach stays, a cleanout may not happen until the season after.

Danner is not the only guy under the pump at the club. I can think of 10 players that could be delisted or traded if the demons fall to 15th or 16th by round 22.

IMO danners will be given a final year to take this list to a flag. If he fails, he will be chopped as soon as the season ends.

Believe me, the players we have are very very good, but its like a troup of monkeys in charge of a Ferrari, that Ferrari needs a lot of maintenance and our chimps a not up to the job. Everybody in that glass box should be fired tomorrow!!!!!!!!!

Daniher is well liked but its hard to fathom how we can keep him at 0-8 with most players back and stringing a few games together, how we play like school girls when the heat is on.

It can change quickly but if we win around 4-8 games for the year with that list, the writing is on the wall.

Major frustratons for the Dees is

How back up players from the premier side in Sandy constantly fail at AFL level.

How we cannot team together in adversity like the Kangas and show a strong tough game each week. ( I have seen us do it twice in 8 rounds)

Development of players in the gym to build up (or picking the right type to compete against men).

Above all I think another coach wil struggle until we can have a radical change the the ethos of the club - we need a stronger winning culture at the club but F$CK me how we are going to do it honestly. how do you change a club like this?

Who will be attracted to this club even with a talented list - will Pagan or Sheedy be ?

I really don't know the answer we need.

As I've said before the talent is there, our recruiting has been good, but the players have got to be developed. Ryan Ferguson a case in point , how long has he been a Demon 4 years? he hardly looks differant from the day he began with us. The lad should get out now because he has not been given the tools to survive AFL football, he's easier to knock over than a ladder and he always gets injured, NEWTONS LAW I think

The club needs a harder work ethic, we need to put in the effort. Every game our players need to run themselves into the ground and work for each other. Even Grant Thomas mentioned that our players don't work as a team. The main ingredients we are lacking are teamwork and work ethic aswell as lack in defense and our rucks. johnson and neaves look alright, but we need a 'great' ruckman.

They will give him a new contract

They are soft Pathetic. Inept

Your comments are pathetic. All you do is bag the club and post a bold Brock for captain message. How old are you? Regardless, your comments are puerile. No wonder this board is characterised as the teen board with contributions like yours.

The current MFC board has done a better job from a perilous situation than you realise. The appointment of the coach is just one of the concerns it has to deal with. Its primary responsibility is to keep the club afloat and viable as an independent AFL club in Melbourne, or perhaps you'd prefer the Darwin Demons. We have looked down the gurgler more than once in the last 20 years and I credit Gardner with getting us back on a more even keel.

I have no doubt that Gardner and the board will make the hard coaching decisions when necessary and yes, this is essential to our ongoing viability. Do you seriously think that they aren't considering options right now? Of course they are. ND's future, and the MFC's, is up for grabs and they know it.

A more considered opinion rather shooting your fat mouth off every time would be a refreshing change.

Financially yes, the board has an amazing job and credit given where credit is due. They brought this club back from the grave financially. But with the actual football department, I think things could have been done a bit better and they seem a little soft in dealing with things like poor performance and coaching staff; they don't have the ability, or guts, to admit a problem.

If you believe that you'll believe anything.

Maximum Bob's comments earlier here , despite being 300 words are about right.

The right path to rectify what looks like being the worst season I can remember will surely be on the Board's mind.

but we don't vote them in to panic like many on this website.

Action at Board level to bring in some form of radical change now is not an option, but planning for change at seasons end is.

Don't start with this crap, before he came on board with his cronies we had money in the bank. After he and his elected board members left we were $5 million down the shiitehole.

Do whatever you want but do not rewrite history to feed some fanciful delusion.

I agree wholeheartedly!

There is talent on the list.......I'm not saying we don't need to move a few on, but we certainly can play a lot better, and achieve a lot more with the list we currently have.

We have a major problem in developing what we have.

Actually, when Joe left we had plenty in the bank. It was after Szondy was pres thast we had a 5 million debt. Just check the annual reports from those years.

Who was responsible for Szondy being elected to the board?

Don't want to be rude but please read my whole post before replying.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
