Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Umpire #24 - Take a bow

You are a clown and surely won't be umpiring for a long, long time. Absolutely [censored] house - you are a joke. Why would we be putting it out of bounds deliberately when down by 5 points with 30 seconds to go. Thats just the tip of the ice berg though. You clown - F$#% off and die.

Although the umpires were crap i dont think anyone besides Sadam deserves to die and you must be a kid for saying that

According to Bruce on Ch7, there were SEVEN frees in total for the 2nd half (both sides) up til the free against Neitz. So in a match with little whistle blowing, the last two frees when a match was in the balance seemed inconsistent and perplexing.

not surprised...just upset....if we can make it with a hangover that could kill a cat, the least we can do is post 20K for that game.

very true, the hangover was so bad yesterday my head was as clouded and blank as an umpire's, all the yelling didn't help, saw stars.

but i don't understand the [censored] about people in mcc, you can't say mcc was packed then [censored] about them being/not being members. if there were 2 mfc members between them, one here, then about 3000 mfc members rocked up. fcuking joke

Absolutely sick of PC clowns like you in this world - you probably think we should be kicked out of the stadium for calling umpires white maggots.

Some of the garbage you're written on this site makes it painfully obvious that you're a kid.

The McDonald deliberate call was a terrible decision.

The Neitz push in the back was questionable. Ch 7 only showed it once on the replay, so it's hard to get a good look at it.

Aaron Davey was paid a mark 40m out with 10 mins to go in the last quater where he dived forward, which wasn't even close to being a mark. The umpire was right there, yet still paid it.

Not a good day for the umpires all round. Although I thought it was poor from Daniher to virtually say in the press conference that the umpires cost Melbourne the game.

Port knocked the ball out at least twice, much more clearly deliberately, than McDonalds. That decision cost us our last (very slim) chance of attacking. However have to agree with the other comments, if we had kicked better (i.e up to AFL standard) we would not have been in the position we were, we would have won by a few goals. Lets face it, even if we had won that game, our skills are not up to a level where we could comptete with most AFL clubs. If we ever manage to combine the endeavour we showed yesterday with some decent kicking skills, we will be a force to be reckoned with this year, but I'm not going to hold my breath waiting . .

disagree ash i wished we said it more.

hird came out and slagged the umpires then got a golden run for a while. collingwood always slag the umpires off and bring attention to it. the swans whinge about barry halls treatment and he starts getting free kicks. richmond whinged last week.

its about time we complained when we get bad decisions. maybe we'll get a good deal next week...

if only davey had missed, would've saved a bit of pain. not like it was that hard to miss either, 6.20 after half

the umps were [censored] and the loss dissapointing but i got some consolation from byron driving cornes s head 6ft into the mcg turf

Wishing someone to die is different to not thinking Bell and C.J are good players. Grow up. To say for someone to die is just stupid. I dont like umpires, i abuse them at the ground but not once have i thought they should die

It's reported in the news this morning that Daniher, along with 3 other coaches, have been given a "please explain" from the AFL over comments made about umpires from the weekend. All four coaches are looking at fines.

Daniher then comes out last night on Footy Classified and says the umpires didn't cost Melbourne the game, it was your poor finishing in front of goal. That's what I wanted to hear after the game on Sunday.

If your theory is correct, it should make for interesting viewing this week. One of the other 3 coaches in trouble for umpire bashing is Rocket Eade.

Ash, in the press conference as I remember it, Daniher commented about our poor kicking as the reason for our loss. The umpiring came up as a question directed to him. He made a comment that their positioning should have been better, with a particular reference to the Neitz puish in the back

Little harsh to be picking on Neale, when its a common occurance every week that coaches have a go at the umps - i notice that Sheedy got a please explain this week as well, and has been making his comments for years

Occo, I say that i'd kill for a coffee, or that i'm so hungry i could eat a horse, all the time. I mean neither of them. Considering the timing of Harcourt's post straight after the match, I think he's allowed a little bit of venting.

And I don't like when Sheeds does it either.

Despite what all the wannabe umpire killers on here think, bad umpiring or poor decisions very very very rarely directly influence the result of a game. That's why I never understand when coaches whinge about it.

I even think the decisions being talked about from sundays game are being blown out of proportion. The Neitz push was 50/50. Melbourne supporters say "no push", the Port supporters say "definately a push", and people like me who don't barrack for either team say "maybe, maybe not, could have been let go, but in the end it was paid, so be it". It wasn't the worse decision I've seen. That honour went to the deliberate call against J.Mac. But even then, if it wasn't paid, you're looking at a boundary throw in 60m from Ports goal with 38 secs to go. It's hardly the one defining decision that cost Melbourne victory.

I can understand supporters being frustrated, and I think the standard of umpiring is as poor as it has ever been, but nothing is going to change. Walk away from any game of football, and ask both sets of supporters about the umpiring, and both teams supporters will say they got the raw end of the deal.

while they often don't directly effect the game ie free kick gives the winning goal after siren, i think they often have a lot to do with momentum of a team. i couldnt believe how many holding the ball decision weren't paid on sunday, both to melb and PA. but i thought we tackled and harassed very well, moreso than PA, and we weren't rewarded for it.

in regards to the previous post maybe given that both coaches complained the umps will give both sides a fair go and we will get a well umpired match? we can only hope.

to me a well umpired match is one when you walk away and didnt notice the umpires - sort of like when you watch a vfl match. why do the afl umpires have to make so many controversial calls?

Words can not describe how much I hate the white maggots

It is well documented

I have been ejected from the MCG a couple of times for giving them a spray when they come off the ground. And you havent seen a spray until you have seen one delivered by the great Yze_Magic

The public should have access to the umpires personal addresses and phone numbers. If maggots like number 24 are allowed to ruin our day, we should be allowed to ruin theirs

I'm surprised there wasn't a full-scale field-invasion after the Neitz free kick from half of the crowd on Sunday, such was the vehemence of the Demon faithful. In close games, there are plenty of moments that contribute to the end result, but it is the last key moment that has the final bearing on the result. In this case, the final two moments were David Neitz getting crucified for a completely inconsisent and incorrect decision, and a comical deliberate against James McDonald. Sure, we could have kicked straighter, but so could Port. If the old St. George kick-o-meter was still displayed on the scoreboard, I doubt many of our behinds would have had a greater than 50% chance of going through, whereas the Powers missed a lot more gettable chances.

ash the thing that got me and those directly around me was that they didnt pay the one to neitz earlier

also wakelin drops the ball and falls forward i more think neitz arm follows more than pushes him, but his arm is there and the ump would have got a split second to decide and if it was the other way round i would have been [censored] if he didnt pay it

after having to stop harcourt climbing the fence at the end of the game im a little tired.....he was f@#$ing shocking.

What is with the turnout? what p!ss weak supporters we have.....17K....what a joke. MCC packed, probably 5 members between them.

petterd was fantastic though...going to be a star.

The turnout is not all that difficult to understand. Count the Port supporters there, perhaps a couple of hundred? If every single Melbourne member had turned up we still wouldn't have got 30,000 through the gate.

If we were playing another Melbourne side there would have been 30,000 there and not a single extra Melbourne supporter would have been needed to get that number.

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
