Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Three outs were injuries and the only player omitted was CJ? For people at the game and saw him live was he really that bad?

I can understand to a certain extent the theory in sticking with experience, but I think I am going to blow a valve at some stage during the game on Sunday in relation to a couple of players.

Deserves to be dropped

Rubbish!

He had very limited ground time, and when he was on the ground they threw him down back.

He wasn't worse than TJ, Davey or Green.

I'm livid that they dropped him.

Yze spent 3 years under-performing, and gets a one week holiday in the VFL. CJ has an average game due to limited opportunities, and becomes the scapegoat.

In a week where we could use as much pace, and foot skills as we can possibly get, dropping him seems senseless.

I don't get it either Graz!

I am sure the vast majoity of posters will agree that Cj has been woeful and we cant afford to carrry him for another week

There is a HUGE difference grazman, TJ and Davey have proven they can play at AFL level...

Correct weight

And they have the abilityto turn it on at any time

CJ is a passenger at the moment, with the ability to donothing

i was very annoyed to see CJ getting about 3-4 minuts game time and then being bought off again... i was watching the bench and he is the most over rotated player on the team!!! let him get some rhythm into his game rather than giving him short 5 minute spells!! really frustrating!!

ND has gone into survival mode, he is trying to win games with the old faithful and neglecting to develop our younger players. Three ruckman, one was a star but time is catching up, one cant get a kick and one can't mark overhead. CJ I'm not angry that he got dropped, I'm angry for who he got dropped for. If it was Petterd or Buckley good lets see what they have got. If we lose this week what will ND acheive, playing old players and not showing us fans our youth. If we win though is it a master stroke or a short term fix that may be highlighted in the weeks to come. Only time will tell.

Errr I think that maybe a bit harsh. I rate CJ highly which is why I asked the question. (but like the comment above that is simply an opinion - not a fact)

Davey needs to find form and his discipline had been ordinary, but I accept that in a side lacking something special, now might not be the best time to drop him to find the footy in a lower grade.

TJ was insipid last week, his attitude was appalling and set the worst possible example to the junior players. Rather than make an example of him we let him have the chance to redeem himself. My view is simply that is as weak as [censored].

Without any game time to prove himself he was going to be dropped. I think CJ has the ability to become a great player, but when watching the match last week against hawthorn i think he seemed kind of lost not knowing where to run. Hopefully he can press for selection again and be in the starting 22 asap with other younsters with the way things are looking at the moment.

Bad move in dropping CJ, at least he is capable of a hardball get, he also needs time to get used to AFL, not played for a couple of games then dropped. I'm not at all happy with the way our young players are developed.

Cj needs a chance to develop. 2 games isnt a fair amount to be judged on. He should get another run.

As for trapper and davey, they will find touch.

CJ back next week for ward.

Can you really call for heads even before the game has been played? I agree with you that CJ should come back into the side (he shouldn't even be out of it in my opinion..Bate and others were very lucky) but Ward can't be the man to go out before even having the chance to perform!

Not calling for heads, looking at the next 2-3 years of this footy club. CJ needs to play, and as great as wardy is, he wont be around then. We need to mould CJ, and we cant very well drop whelan or bell to do it.

And on the other side of the coin Collingwood have the balls to bring in Dick, Cox and Johnson in one fell swoop.

How could he go into survival mode? If he does not get Top 4 he's gone.

He is seeking to win games by using the available depth. Its a big ask to get young players in development mode to come out and ont only compete but win. Both a risks. I think there is a lesser risk by doing what is done.

Tactically we need to close down the game and make it a scrap on our terms. Nullify the Cats. I believe experience would be valuable in this process.

How did you work out PJ was replacing CJ? Same surname?

If we win its more of short term fix but a fair dollop of credit.

The next 8 weeks is critical to our season to get our best players back.

Its amazing we are 0 and 2 and some supporters are calling for tactics that wave the white flag and say the seasons over. What a cop out.

Against a crippled and poorly performed Richmond. Even their coach says will not challenge til 2011. That another issue in itself

Collingwood have gone into this season with a dubious finals chance.

They traded Tarrant. Their best on their list are old and injury prone and falling off the pace. Their recruiting in the past five years has been ordinary.

What other choice do they have?

Aside the goal to one of their debutants they did little

Are you sure you're not talking about Melbourne here? <_<

Daniher wants to win and is doing whatever he can to make that happen. His faith in our depth never ceases to amaze, and I just hope he's right.

Maybe as more injured players return, we'll see the inclusion of a few more new faces to excite us.

Certainly Dunn and Sylvia (both not fit this week), but maybe also Buckley, Frawley and Newton.

If it had been a Melbourne game and Newton had debuted with 12 touches and 3 goals, Garland had got the ball 11 times and kicked 2 and Pettard had 8 possessions with limited game time time, I'd hope you wouldn't be so dismissive of those efforts.

Are you certain this will be the case?

The rub here is we don't have the list and haven't come anywhere near resembling anything like an premiership outfit for as long as I can remember. Never have.

Would be most 'un Melbourne like' to step out of the familiar surrounds and charter new waters.

A modicum of credit if we win? Highly Unlikely.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
