Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It gets worse.

I don't think either Garland or Newton are ready yet, but I have serious reservations as to whether playing Bizz in the forward line is the right move long term. However, I suppose it's a bit of an understatement to say the coach needs a win.

Haha - they are mucking around - trying to be unpredictable. I've also noticed that everyone from the coach down has been complimenting Geelong on how amazing they were. Again, mind games, and I love it.

I remember beating Geelong in 2005 at Kardinia without Neitz - an unconventional forward line - Robbo gave Scarlett a bath, no-one to match up on Yze, etc...

Only problem this time around, is that Robbo isn't going to be playing either. I have no doubt we will see Big Bad Benny unleashed at full forward on Sunday!

Just a mini little minor problem :)

One that will make us more unpredictable. And you couldn't get more unpredictable than Benny Boy at FF.

I don't take any of that seriously, however if I see Clint Bizzell lining up at FF on Sunday, I will spew.

He will never be a FF, and it would be a completely wasted exercise to play him there. I'd rather Davey lined up at FF!

We're in a really bad position with our injuries, but this is the time to blood new players and make some changes. We'll most likely never have this sort of opportunity again until Neita and Robbo both retire (hopefully!).

Who knows, we may uncover a real FF option for the future.

This may sound stupid, but why isnt he worth a try?

Apart from taking the opportunity of a younger player.

I seem to remember when he was at geelong he played forward and was reasonably rated there...

I'm all for it. I really think its an exciting time. I'm looking forward to an unpredictable line up against the cats & that may even work for us. A great opportunity for a youngling to take off & make a name for himself.

Ripped us apart one day @ The G.

Kicked 8 if my memory serve's me correctly.

A way better option than Benny. Even if he gets the ball how the hell is he going tokick it straight?

I guess the name of the game is winning Cactus, and in that respect, he is probably going to be the least risky proposition to play forward given that he did play about three good games for the cats playing forward. The point is though that maybe one of the younger blokes like Dunn, Bate or CJ - whilst riskier, may benefit from the experience (and selfishly for us supporters give us something to hang our hats on) or that someone like PJ or Jamar who don't look like making it as ruckmen may somehow be converted into a productive forward.

So rated in fact, that they traded him.

At best Bizzell plays FF, and kicks a couple. At worse, he does absolutely nothing and his player runs off him all day creating more headaches for us.

Bottom line is, this is most likely Bizzell's last season. He never was and never will be a FF, and playing him there will be like wallpapering a cracked wall. It won't help us in the long term, and it probably won't help us in the short term either.

On the other hand, we can let someone like Newton or Dunn play at FF for the next 4 weeks. They may not dominate, hell they may be completely useless, but at least we'll know. Either we'll unearth a long-term option, or we'll find out if these guys can cut it at senior level.

Neita is not going to be around forever, neither is Robbo, or especially Bizzell.

We're in a [censored] situation, and we can either be brave and make bold moves and gain something, or we can continue to fill gaps with players who are never going to get us anywhere.

Not making the most of this situation would be absolutely criminal, and a further blow to the team.

what baffled me on monday is we started with jamar forward which i dont mind, he proved to be a target and then neitz gets injured and they dont put white or jamar back there to replace him

but id just be happy to see the bizz play!

yeah i like the point about the least risky option...

He will be absolutly raring to go after more than a year off

Bate could be worth a crack, has a good build and reasonable set shot.

Apart from the i think it will have to be a first gamer, talk about throwing them to the sharks 0-2 and tipped to make top 4 and they have to come out and try to fill the place of the club games record holder and captain...

If holland could take a mark and then fake a knee injury and have Greeny standing next to him to take the shot when holland cant, 1 min later holland runs on and we repeat the process...

It'll be tough for whoever gets it i guess

I understand where you are coming from but it could do more bad than good... Newton could get smashed by Scarlett and lose all his confidence and with the way our midfield is delivering at the moment we wont learn anything. I dont want to fill gaps anymore than you do but i also dont want to throw them in the deep end and hope they can swim, if they cant we lose them...

In all seriousness now, I would like to see us keep rotating different options through the forward line. Keep making Geelong shuffle around their defence. Would like to see us start with someone like Bate at full forward, then rotate Green and Bruce through there. At other times put Jamar, White or Holland there to give us a target and at other times play Davey from the goal square as the only forward in the 50. We have to keep them on their toes and not allow their defenders to settle.

If they can't swim, we'll give them floaties, if they sink, we don't want them!

If Newton gets smashed by Scarlett, he'll get up and he'll learn. We can't protect these kids forever, and to be fair he has been in the system for a few years already.

At some stage we need to bite the bullet and give them a go. Never has there been a more desperate need for a tall forward to stand up and deliver. Newton is our future, and it seems the future is now.

I have been wanting Newton to play for a long time too... But we still want to win, correct?? I think we need some experience to steady the ship so to speak.

He isnt solid or experienced enough to walk straight into FF...

Biz knows how an AFL game is played and can play bigger than he is.

Newton should debut in a pocket with Neitz by his side to learn off him. When i first thought about it i was exactly like you but a 2nd thought changed my mind.

and what would those floaties be?? put him on the bench?? Try and hide him somewhere?? Put Jamar down there to help him??

play PJ at full forward, Newton in one pocket and Davey in the other

Scarlett will take PJ, Egan will go straight to miller, Milburn or Josh Hunt are their next best defenders to take newton

Throw in Sylvia, Yze, a resting ruckman, Bruce, Green, GODFREY!!!!, Bate and CJ i think we can kick enough score without Neitz and Robbo

I am NOT for Biz playing in the forward line. Im upset we are playing ordinary and injuries but i would really like to see some new guys come in over biz and holland. Ok perhaps if we do that we have more chance of losing...but lets face it, the odds are against us already. Newton must get a game. How will he ever be any good if we dont give him some time in the afl. Remember neitz expiry date is very close.

I would really like to see Garland, Buckley, Pettard and Warnock. Who knows, they may play better than TJ last week lol. But seriously, look towards the future.

Danners will not name these players tho, as he rairly gives players a lot of chance and some luck

That is an unfortunate truth occo, I would also love to see a couple of our kids getting a run.....

But I don't think it will happen, not this week. To bigger risk for Daniher to take maybe?

I have a real soft spot for Bizz but I don't see him in the forward line.

And I honestly don't think they will put him there, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him in the twenty-two.

I am all for the young kids to be played this year like many of the bottom sides did last year, get the games into them for next year, let's be realistic people we will win maximum 2 of the next 6 if we are lucky that leaves us at 2-6 with a lot of interstate trips still to go....

Will it dent the kids confidence?? Maybe but i'd rather let them play and see what happens, while it won't happen because dropping Brown, Godfrey would seem harsh after they played ok... in reality it should happen if we want a more competitive team next year

Bizz will probably play this week but i'd prefer him floating down back and driving the ball out of defence... i'd like to see Bizz and Riv play more together......

Yze should be brought back simply due to lack of options and i'm sure if you sat him deep all game he would snag a much needed 3-4 goals..... same with Sylvia these 2 are great for their height at marking the ball.. have Davey right at their feet... the last thing we need is an immobile forward line so throwing Holland/PJ or Ferg down there won't help.

HF: Bate, Miller, Bruce

F: Davey, Sylvia, Yze

I woulnt mind seeing Newton given a go but ND simply doesn't seem to take those chances......

If i had my way id play Newton, Pettard, CJ all year and let them develop, while throwing in a few games to Garland/Weetra if form warranted.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
