Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Mark Williams and Lance Franklin loom as the danger men on Monday against the hawks to be honest i am quite scared they have a habit of smashing us to bits and with wat our defence was on friday night we could be up for some more troublesome times.

the question is who will get the match ups ..... We are all expecting rivers back in..... Perhaps Wheatley as well at the expense of Bell? i think would be a bold move by daniher as he didnt really do alot wrong friday night but i dont think he can go with Franklin.

carrol on williams

wheatley on franklin

your thoughts?

I would love to see Furgi play on Franklin. Second preference to Rivers if he is unfit. Not sure about Williams. That one does scare me a little bit. Whelan hopefully if he is right, otherwise Bell or even give Bartram a crack. He played well on a forward last year when given the task. Can't remember which game.

If i remember correctly, Bell has played on Williams once before and kept his influence on the game to a minimum.. i'd be willing to give him another chance to do so again on Monday

haha, ferguson on franklin, why not just give him 10 goals before the game starts...

franklin cant mark overhead, does ok on his chest

his main strength is causing the contest, and getting the ball when it hits the deck, sweeping onto his left and goals/passing it off

warnock would be ok pace-wise, but is he smart enough? bell is the same, put the height difference might be just too much

start off with bell on him, hopefully carroll or holland can crash a pack with buddy in the middle, and soften him up, then he wont put his hed anywhere near the ball, if bell doesnt work, rivers can shut him down effectively (but we then lose his creativity)

whelan starts on williams, bell 2nd option

dutchy takes roughead, carroll will get boyle/resting ruckman

I'm willing to bet Bell will get Williams. How everyone could miss the fact that Bell is a quality hard-working defender who beat him in the NAB cup when he played on him is beyond me. If, somehow, Williams finds form then there's always wrecker. Personally I'm just as happy for Whelan to be let loose a bit to gather possessions.

As for Franklin, it's Riv all the way. But I think Daniher will probably persist with Carroll. Roughhead, if they still play him forward, could get Holland or Carroll. And Croad and Miller can wear one-another all day, whichever end of the ground they end up at. Unfortunately there aren't too many options here. Croad's too fit for Holland, he'd run him up and down the ground. Miller has the engine to keep up with him, but will be up against it as Croad is a pretty good player who likes to hurt us. There's a possibility Holland won't play, and it'll be Rivers - Franklin, Carroll - Roughie, Croad - Miller. Or Holland can play and Rivers can be the extra man. Something he likes to do, and does well.

i love reading your comments yze_magic, and that was one of the best lol

??? If political incorrectness is funny... I guess. I loved YM's optimism too, and agree that these two have a good chance of holding Franklin and Williams if the midfield gives them some help. But maybe a different choice of words re Williams would have been nice. We wouldn't want to be seen as bigots on this site. I'm sure you meant nothing by it YM...?...

Playing Miller as the default CHF is an issue in itself. But playing Miller at CHB is even more concerning - especially as we have other options there.

I think he is our new Craig Nettlebeck - not quite anything but looks good on the promotional poster.

And don't start me on the strength of our ruck division or the delivery from our running HB line.

Sheez.

On a side note Williams managed to score -1 in the herald sun dream team last week.

We have the match ups even should the dorks decide to go three talls.

It is control of the midfield, clearances and stoppages that has me worried.

Come back & troll if your 16th placed side ever makes the 8 this decade.

Buddy has done sweet F all in his career to date.

May it long continue!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

50+ goals in 2 years is a fair effort.. AA this year, mark my words..

Oh and we made the finals in 00 and 01, thats apart of this decade..

I think Old Man Rivers thinks you're a Richmond supporter Richo_15. Whereas I know you're a Hawk. You were keen on a Fergs trade last year.

As for Buddy and Co., I think they'll be full of run and confidence on Monday, and it'll be a challenge for our boys.

I'm looking forward to it.

I would NOT be dropping Holland on last weeks form.

If there is no direct match up (probably Tim Boyle) he can pinch hit at the other end of the ground and stretch the Hawks short defence. Also this would allow ND decides to rest White and Jamar on the bench instead of the forward line, so they can come back on completely refreshed and smash their younger less experienced opponents.

As for Franklin, I have it on good authority, from some Hawthorn supporter mates, that he still hasn't taken a mark over his head.

Forget about his height and weight and put someone on him who can beat him on the ground. I would give Bell first crack.

The other way to shut him down would be to close up the space in front of him be using a creative player there who is comfortable going back with the flight and can find space and time with their back to our goals. My first choice would be Rivers. The Hawks coaching staff won't allow this for too long, unless our forwards are killing them and they have their own loose man in our defence. So if they do put someone on Rivers it just means more traffic in front of Franklin; and Williams for that matter.

FWIW On paper their backline has got far more headaches than ours. ;)

Go Dees - let's get on the board.

Gee 00 & 01

That would of made Buddy about 12 years old when you last experianced September action.

50+ goals in 2 years. Now there's something to be excited about.

No doubt the boy has potential simply doesn't have the runs on the board @ present to support the 07 hype.

Happy to continue this conversation after Easter Monday

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
