Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Why would anyone care how the dad is doing? Especially on this forum!

Ooooooh how I wish I could disagree with you on that soft spot....

Sadly...

Yes, best wishes to Scott and his partner on the new addition to the family.

I agree though with Dappa about the soft spot. I hope one day to be watching 22 Demon players collecting premiership medallions while Mr. Thompson is sitting with his backside on the MCG turf with head bowed in hands lamenting the fact that he ever went back to SA.

You won't if Beamer is collecting the NS medal!!

Good luck to Scotty.

Always had a soft spot for Thommo, and I still watch him closely (I enjoy watching Adelaide regardless).

Unlike a lot of Melbourne supporters, I don't begrudge him for going home. But yes, I will have a smile on my face if we beat Adelaide in a GF and Beamer wins the NSM ;)

Wish him all the best for the season and his new life as a dad.

Let us not forget, Comrades, that he took his thirty pieces of silver and went back to live in West Horsham.

After he retires, perhaps he can work in the Mitsubishi Factory, and cruise around the streets of Elizabeth or Salisbury for fun in a 1988 Magna.

Good luck to them all. they will need it.

Biffinator.

Well done tommo. I have no hard feelings as we rairly played u at AFL level which was the coaching staff mistake and have no issues with u wanting to get more game time.

You're right, Melbourne really should have played him more straight after he did his ankle...

I remember him doing that yes and i was guttered but he did show potentual before that game so ur saying that just because he was injured we got rid of him. He didnt leave cause we didnt play him when he had his ankle injury, he left cause we rairly played him overall.

Um.... No, actually.

He left because of family issues. WANTED to be back in SA.

Sorry mate but that's rubbish

he played 13 games in 03, missing the rest through 2 separate injury stints of 4 and 5 games - very reasonable for his 3rd year of footy, and in 04 he was firmly in the best 22, playing every game up until his big injury. After years of molding, he was just breaking the barrier and becoming a vital cog of our midfield and off he goes. Compare him to McLean, a young key midfielder who has already stated he will never leave the MFC - that's character.

Sickness in the family is obviously a serious matter, but I always thought there was a bit more to it given the persistence to which the club begged him to stay - to no avail.

Traitor. Big time.

Your post was spot on until the last sentence.

The club begged him to stay because they didn't want to lose him. Letting him walk out without a fight wasn't an option, no matter the circumstances.

But in the end the club did the right thing by accepting a good offer from Adelaide, and then using pick 12 to acquire Moloney.

Losing a good player is not ideal, but it's a real shame that the club's hard work in securing Thompson and our club an equally good trade is often tarnished by rubbish accusations.

mate read the post again and tell me where it bags the club.... no doubt they did extremely well to acquire Moloney, who is one of my favourites and has a big future, but this thread is about Thompson and whether or not he did us wrong. Your response doesn't convince me that he is NOT a traitor in any way, shape or form.

I wasn't talking about you in particular, but generally about people who claim Thompson left due to lack of game time.

Do you have any evidence that suggest he is actually a traitor?

mate I was the one REFUTING that he left due to lack of game time...

The evidence I have was clearly stated in my original post, obviously its a matter of opinion, i'm not sure what type of evidence you are looking for

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
