Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

To be honest its actually pretty [censored] poor we have to rely on the fine contribution by our fellow demonlanders by going down and doing a report because our MFC website department is useless.

The Casey coverage is dire. At least when they had their own website you'd know who the goalkickers were.

P.S - Has anyone checked on the welfare of Casey's Twitterist? @caseydemonsFC last posted anything on March 12 and has four total posts this year.

Is that Maynard, Preuss and Stretch? If so, I can't work out what's going on with player numbers. It's been a bugbear of mine for some time that Melbourne players haven't been using their Melbourne numbers when playing for Casey. It's so much better for the supporters if they use the same numbers.

But if I've named the players correctly, it would seem that Maynard and Stretch are in their MFC numbered jumper and Preuss is not. So, what's happening this year? Are the Melbourne players wearing their Melbourne numbers when they're at Casey or not?

I thought we spotted up forward 50 options pretty well yesterday.  A couple of good hit-up to ANB (which he unfortunately missed), was a pretty decent pass from T Mac to Jones in the last (wiped my mind of that outcome).

On a more positive note, I did think that kick to T Mac in the first quarter on the edge of the square was a pearler and Melksham's foot skills passing into our forward 50 are elite.

Does make me also think that we are missing another medium-tall forward option at the moment though like Hannan or J Smith.  Hannan doesn't always rack up huge numbers but often really makes his possessions count and I was impressed with both Smiths (Joel in particular) before they were injured.  Not sure Keilty plays quite the same role, so he might be needing to be seen as either a better option than Weid or better than Preuss in the ruck.

Another med-tall half forward unfortunately wont make any difference, in my opinion. The main issue sits firmly with the mids & to allow the Power over 50 forward 50 entries halfway through the 3rd quarter is a nightmare for any coach. (50 at the completion of a game is somewhat embarrassing!)

clearances, rebounds & speed around the footy were the killers.......The early missed opportunities were a momentum killer too.

would like Billy to get another go - i know his JLT form was ordinary but he wasnt alone. I think KK may need a couple more games before being ready.

Billy had preseason foot surgery.   Lets give him more time to find his feet at Casey, just yet.   I'd rather another running small, like chandler or lockhart. (If Preuss plays) but they must be fit to play.

If you were Goody what be your changes after watching the game?

I think Kolodjasdjin will come in. Very skilful player and Goody did mention him in today’s presser.

May obviously to come back.

And selfishly, but not without merit, I think Keilty could come in. Play as a high forward/link up target and chop out Max in the ruck. We will see tomorrow.

Out of interest why does Stretch play mainly as an inside mid at Casey but then plays an outside role in the AFL?

Or am I wrong... which is quite possible ?

Seems to happen that way, I think the inside midfield gives the greatest physical challenge as well as gets you most in play, so it makes sense that the experienced guys in the VFL play there, but I see the other side of that argument that they should play the role they'll be asked to do at AFL level. Ideally I think half and half would be about the right balance.

The main issue with Stretch from the preseason  was that he had very little confidence in his decision making, so was stalling play and/or turning the ball over. He'll never win a lot of contests in close or in space but he'll run hard and to the right spots, so really his game depends on how good his ball use is. If he uses it well he has some value, if he stops the flow of play or turns it over he's useless.

suspect the weather (cold and windy) and the lack of a second ruckman for Geelong will go against Keilty's selection. He certainly should have played against Port. His inclusion would come at the exclusion of a mid/half forward or perhaps Fritsch goes down back and Sparrow or Hunt dropped to allow his selection.

Certainly will be a difficult selection meeting

Casey has a very very average social media and website presence.  Hard to understand.  Twitterist works less than a kardashian !!!

Weid was not being served well by our midfield yesterday.

Goodwins game plan is contested ball with plenty of random F50 entries. I don't think this game style suits Weid at all. It suited us with Hogan in the team as we had structure, Hogan had the great presence of a full forward.

In my humble Weid needs to watch tapes of Lloyd from Essendon in his prime and Goodwin needs to change our game plan to suit.

I think Weideman could be elite as a leading full forward if we got a game plan together that stopped bombing the ball in randomly and they worked out leading patterns that freed up space for him to lead into.

I can tell you they don't practice it.

yes I can see a future Ben Brown type player as he fills out.

Was fine for a state league side when they were solo. We've taken off, pulled their website under ours and obviously sent the Twitterist to Tahiti for the winter.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
