Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

AFLW: Rd 7 vs Adelaide

Recommended Posts

Everyone should get on board for this game. The AFL have made it difficult via the conference allocation, the umpires have made it difficult and by losing two games by four points we have made it difficult for ourselves.

If we pull a big win off on the weekend against the premiership favourites it will be epic.

Go the red and blue!

so whats the go? We need to beat Adelaide by enough to make up 40% or so?

Given the Dockers are playing North, if we win we’re into top two spot and finals... unless they win big.

Whoever wins out of those 2 guarantees themselves a spot with 24 points. If we win, we go to 20 points and should go above the loser of that game, but then we are also on the same points as Adelaide, who have a much greater % so we need to overcome that

I wonder how they'll approach it - take the pressure off and play with a bit of reckless abandon, or like any other game. Back in our game (which is our usual approach) or go defensive then try to steal it?

It will be interesting D_I_O.

I’d like to see all out attack early, throw everything at them and hope we open up a 2-3 goal lead. That might force the Crows to take some risks in trying to reduce the margin then we go ‘kapow’ on them again as they open up.

I can’t see us outscoring them by the 4-5 goals late in the game if it’s close for the first 3 quarters. Build the lead then build Fort Knox.

Demons by 27.

If it plays out like this I will eat my hat but what a happy meal it would be!

The sad part is we have played really well all season.

Now, there is no 'next week' to earn respect and redemption so the team have to live with it for a year.  An eternity.  It is reminiscent of our final 2017 game vs Collingwood.  Hopefully, it spurs the women on as it did our men.

Really feel for the players.

Simply out-played, out-classed and maybe, out-coached. A very disappointing end given that our best can be terrific. Unfortunately, we were so far off that today and the Crows were comprehensively on top in every facet. They should go all the way.

From slim pickings, the efforts of Mithen, plus Downie and Cordner under siege, were our best. And of course Emonson for kicking truly ?

Despite a poor effort and result, I have every respect for our players, playing for the love of the game and often making sacrifices to do so - some we hear about and others we don't. They'll be disappointed to say the least.

At some point this week before we're all consumed by the men's game, I'll try to put a thread together where we can reflect on the good, bad and the ugly from this season - there's lots to celebrate and this last game will probably overshadow those aspects so it would be good to do that while the season's still fresh.

I would have thought the usual end of season memories of some team efforts highlights and positives but when we have finished out of  Finals tantilisingly close (for a third year in a row)there are more lessons to consider WHY and examine what is needed to take the next step to serious flag contender from a solid but really unspectacular team that lacks X factor pace and aggression and still forward power to convert opportunities.

And please don't expect Daisy to solve any of those problems next year when she returns.

We had 3 'home' games at Casey and lost all 3, albeit 2 by less than a goal.  However, we don't train at Casey so effectively we have no 'Home Ground' advantage.

Casey isn't geographically convenient for training but It has some unique conditions which we haven't capitalised on.   We need a game plan that works there.

If we want to make finals imo we need to have some in season training sessions at Casey and increase our preseason work there.

On a different note, this is not good for local fans, especially kids who only see us lose at Casey.  The area is supposed to be our growth corridor for all red and blue teams so we need to win there to maintain their interest and attract other fans.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
