Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Surprised to see Melksham in forward pocket in so many of the earlier posts. He is easily our best kick to inside 50. Must be played at half forward, as per Spirit of Norm Smith's team.

he's also our best crumber given garlett's injury in 2019 / form in 2018

melksham was sometimes the deepest lying forward last season.

He's often isolated deep because of his one-v-one contested ability, as evidenced in round 23 against West Coast and in the semi against Sicily.

In reality, they all rotate around the front half of the ground, so where you put them doesn't overly matter.

Post JLT, assuming May gets off (which I think he will), and Harmes + VFL boys all are right to go

Swap Frost for May if his appeal fails

B:  Jetta - May - Hibberd

HB: Salem - O.Mac - Lewis

C  Fritsch - Viney - Neal-Bullen

HF: Petracca - T.Mac - Melksham

FF: Spargo - Weideman - J.Smith

FOLL: Gawn - Oliver - Brayshaw

INT: Harmes - Vandenberg - Jones - Hore

Hore over Hunt simply for defensive reasons

Fritsch potentially to roll back

FWIW, I think May will be allowed to play... however, if not, then...

Have been disappointed that Hore hasn't taken the opportunity so far in the absence of Lever.  Granted, it's very early days in his senior career, but there was a spot there for him in round one that may need to be filled by Hibberd or even Gawn going back like the second half of '18.  Truth be told, it was probably an opportunity for Petty and Keilty as well, but neither seems ready or in form to do it.  If May was to play, there's every chance that Frost stays in the side.

Hunt has impressed me this preseason and seems to have renewed confidence in his body and football after a disappointing season last year.  AVB is another that I'm excited to see get a run at things now that his body seems right.  The man is a beast.

I have had in the past zero confidence in Joel Smith and have been reluctant to this point to have him in the 22, however if we are rewarding good form, then he has to be considered as the 3rd tall forward.  With Smith as coverage down forward, that means Weideman and McDonald need to give a chop-out in the ruck.

Big blow May out but at least it gives Frost the chance to take that spud McDonald's spot when May comes back. Smith's injury is unfortunate as well.

One thing we need to develop is a settled side.

Early last year and in 2017 we had a revolving two or three players that would go up or down from Casey depending on form.

Unfortunately there seems to be a high chance of that repeating itself over the next few weeks.

Stretch and Hunt haven't really done enough to press for senior selection but many have them in the side. If Viney doesn't play we could even see Maynard again.

Say what you like about the JLT games but none of the fringe really demanded a spot.

Of those first three games I would happily take two wins out of three.

Make no mistake this is our window and we have to make it count.

Stretch will never be elite. Hunt has a chance with his speed and X factor.

If Smith misses, definitely not playing a Hore from Collingwood!

Much prefer Spargo in.

Rest of team looks good.

Smith is only a test so I would put him in ahead of Preuss.

Spargo's pre season has been poor. Prefer Hunt as the small forward.

That’s the side I want to see lining up. I like the added versatility of Vanders and Hunt in the 22 especially if Hunt can reinvent himself as a forward.

It’s amazing what a difference it makes seeing Melksham on the teamsheet.

Interesting that you still have Preuss in your side Werridee, where others have dropped him like a sack of spuds.  I'm also in the boat that he should and will play.  From reports I've read Lycett and Ryder have tag teamed well in the ruck and I think we will be looking very seriously towards Preuss to give Maxy a decent chop out.

I've been relatively unimpressed by Hore though.  Doesn’t appear to have any real weapons, unless he is an A1 stopper, which I didn't see great evidence of from the JLT telecast, but apreciate that sometimes you can get a better understanding of such things watching at the ground. I'd have Frosty over him in a side that included May, but in May's absence, I'd play Freitch half back/wing and have Smith in the side in place of Hore, assuming he pulls up fit in time.  Was also very impressed with Petty and he would be another that I would be playing before Hore from what I've seen.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
