Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Very happy with this. The right choice, as far as I'm concerned, and glad Jonesy gets another year.

Also stoked for Nev. Absolute champion and well deserved. Am surprised it took this long.

Never been as proud of this club in my 50 odd years as I am now. Good people making consistently good decisions. Might only be small things, but adding Nev to the leadership Group and Goody going to SA for the indigenous summit etc are examples of this. Just need to win the bloody thing for validation of all the hard work done by many good people in the last few years!

Also notable that Jordan Lewis has been cut.

Absolutely happy for Nev and the club. Great decision. In presser noted that Lewis will work with coaches and assist the leadership team. Transition time for Jordan but his experience has been and will be invaluable going forward.

Don't worry. There is always a chance Port Ade will be 5 goals up at quarter time in round 1 . And you will hate them again.

Would prefer to have seen either Viney as sole captain, or Viney and Gawn as co captains.

The mix is great, Jones deserves 1 last year after the chit mix he had to carry. He is winding down and I just hope he gets to lift the cup this season.

Nev is an in most thought should have happened last year and again well deserved.

Hasn’t the durrie puncher been a revelation!

Don't write off Jones yet. It was the Semi final v Geelong when he kicked the sealer and his celebration literally caused the whole stadium to shake.

I was at the Family day at Luna park  in 2014 and saw Nev Jetta standing virtually on his own when picked as a rookie thanks to then new coach Paul Roos.

Went up to him and wished him luck for the season and asked for a selfie with him and obliged kindly such a good person with a smile.

Said to him Roos sees something in you to keep you at the club Hope all works out for you as he replied thanks with that look of determination.

The rest is history as he turned his career around and nothing makes me happier to see such a loyal person be recocgnised and added to the leadership group. Well done Nev as l am sure you have some unfinished business to attend to in 2019.

Bout time... about time Nev was given this Honour.

A true Dee, and role model... for all indigenous and non indigenous alike.  We could all take a page from Nev's book.

Well done Melbourne,   and congrats Nev.  rapt with this.

I like that with Nev being included, we have finally shown we can produce our own leaders.

It wasn't long ago that any blow in who came from a purportedly 'winning culture' was shunted straight into our leadership group upon arrival.

Also the size of the leadership team could be taking up more than a third of the on field playing team at any given time. It screamed to me of a mindset that there were no stand out leaders so let's throw whatever we can at the wall and see what sticks.

I get the feeling that Jordie is at a similar stage to Bernie last year. Like Bernie in 2017, he can still find the pill but his core strength is starting to go and he is starting to lose a step. I'd say this is the year he starts to transition into coaching (which was a big reason he came to us in the first place).

DEE-RUBBING by George on the Outer

For the second week in a row, the Demons had to endure some particularly oppressive match conditions — this time, playing in 30 degree temperatures at the MCG, following the humid sticky Sydney atmosphere of last week.   The warmer conditions didn’t seem to worry the Dee’s since the ball was so much easier to handle, and handle it with surety they did in handing out a 45 point drubbing to the much fancied Western Bulldogs.   After a slow start that saw the Dogs out to

CROSSING THE PICKETT LINE by The Oracle

Melbourne’s performance in losing its Round Zero contest in Sydney has certainly caused the club, the coach and the players to come firmly under the watchful eye of the football world and exposed all of its aspects to a microscopic lens.   Much of the commentary surrounding them has been less than complimentary and, while some might argue that this is unfair after only one round, leaving aside some of the scuttlebutt that surrounds a lot of the discussion around the game, a fair amoun
