Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I have never seen someone develop their game so quickly in-season. His rapid rise in the back end of the year was phenomenal, to the extent that it still beggars belief.

True, his development last year was very significant. His challenge is now to sustain that and keep improving. I was personally a bit worried when he took JW's number that things may not have gone the way they did - don't ask me why it was just a feeling - anyway very pleased it played out well for him.

I know it is easy in hindsight but I always felt James Harmes would be a good player perhaps not quite to the level he showed late last year. I have also had the same feeling about Jayden Hunt so I'm hoping that he can replicate Harmes' 2018 form rise in 2019

Stretch would need to go up a few levels this preseason if he is to break into the team.  And even then we would need a few mids injured or out of form.

Yes, that's what I'm getting at.

That these 3 are the closest to "spanish-looking hombre`s", we have... and all 3 hombre`s, need to lift, lift, lift.

The best of the 3 IMO so far, is ANB, but he need to improve his composure with ball in hand.

Petracca obviously after him.  He really has to become a consistent worker, and be involved constantly... rather than disappearing and becoming merely a spectator after an involvement... and he feels somehow he's done enough in that passage.   too easily self satisfied.!

Now Stretch, a bit maligned for not having arrived, so to speak... he started to show something in 2018, before he was cut-down.

It's his time NOW...  and he has to ensure he plays his part this year.

Or he will be overtaken by hungry newbies, snapping at the feet in-front of them.

So I put these 3 hombre`s in a jocular type thread,  because they are yet to be taken as 'serious threats', in the real AFL world.

And IF we are to go far in this years premiership race, we will require the 3 of them to really fire up.

Sorry but I think this comment is overly presumptive, disrespectful and most probably ill founded.

Speaking to a regular at training (not Saty, although he would probably agree with my sentiments), the problem is more likely his body type/shape. My friend would like to see him fined down a la Harmes, as from observation Trac struggles to keep at that peak. I had an interesting debate with him because we didn't know if it was possible and what would be given up if it happened. I quoted Tracs current ability to absolutely bust through tackles and we both want to see him able to do it repeatedly but currently after he does this he is like a capacitor that needs to be recharged till he can go again.

This might look to your eyes like he is standing around satisfied with himself but I do not agree.

Was just watching the Suns draft night trade on the AFL website.

http://www.afl.com.au/video/2018-12-12/draft-night-drama-suns-play-highstakes-game-to-get-their-man

At around the 3 min mark they start discussing trading up to get Jez Mclennan and when Stuart Dew asks who will be left if at their next picks (26 & 31) if they dont trade up. Craig Cameron mentions Sparrows name but I they clearly dont rate him as high as Mclennan.

They also thought we would take Valente if we had the chance.

Actually Tom Sparrow reminds me of young Todd Viney. Very Good pick.

Nailed it! From most accounts, he does it with mongrel, too. He is an allegedly great kick but unlike Todd, very accurate in passing to other teammates - and makes allowances for 'receivers' to run into near space.

Yes watched the Suns on AFL TV.

CRAIG CAMERON IS A TOOL.  ARROGANT.

Suns have to fix culture and retention issues.

Don't agree with that at all.  He looks like a pro who is on top of the deals to me.

They picked McLennan because he wants to go there!  Loves surfing, dad from Brisbane.

He is General Manager - List and Strategy.  If I worked there I would expect him to lead on draft night.

I've seen him switch off and stop thinking, and so not getting reinvolved in the same play. Sits back seemingly pleased with what he just did.

He does not cover enough ground at pace, during games

And I am one of the first to say he has too much weight on, (puppy fat) to develop the elite fitness to do the midfield things of 2018+ footy.

So I suggest your post is overly presumptive, possibly disrespectful, and ill founded to boot.

Seeing,,, is believing...  and a 6pack on the stomach is not proof of elite fitness.  sadly only reflective of stomach exercises.

Being cut in the limbs, upper legs and arms, is probably more of an indication of low body fat index.

He simply does not work hard enough to become elite.  to this point.

I'll back in 'Dawn', to be better than Tracca... and maybe surpass him in the team, by mid 2020.

The way Christian is tracking so far in his years with us, he will get overtaken by younger guys, who play 100%_

I don't want to see him waste away.

He has to get a move on.

So... Sparra's  >  fart  =  Dawn....  >>>  cracka' Dawn...  >>>  crack'a.

Have you been involved in paranormal testing? Love to know the results.

Sits back seemingly pleased with what he just did.

Nice qualification there, in the past you have been definite that he is too pleased with himself.

He does not cover enough ground at pace, during games,

Yes, that's what my friend and I were debating, do we give up some of his power and brute strength to get him to a weight where he could cover the ground more consistently.

And I am one of the first to say he has too much weight on, (puppy fat) to develop the elite fitness to do the midfield things of 2018+ footy.

You don't go to training and observe him up close with his shirt off do you! You do know muscle weights more than fat? It's the muscle he is carrying that my friend and I think is the problem if we want him to get to more contests

Seeing,,, is believing...  and a 6pack on the stomach is not proof of elite fitness.  sadly only reflective of stomach exercises.

Now I'm confused, if he is carrying "puppy fat" how does he have a 6 pack?

Being cut in the limbs, upper legs and arms, is probably more of an indication of low body fat index.

Ok, (quizzically) Again you don't go to training do you? Apologies if you do, but if cut means sharply defined then I think one of us is looking at Petracca through a faulty lens and I don't think it"s me.

He simply does not work hard enough to become elite.  to this point.

How do you know how hard he is working and on what? Did the fitness and strengthening staff have a particular program to bulk him up and is there now a program to allow him to improve his repeat efforts? I don't know and perhaps he is now exactly as they want him to be, who knows? I can say one thing however; he didn't get into the current shape he is by not working hard. Comments like that is why I said you were being disrespectful.

I'll back in 'Dawn', to be better than Tracca... and maybe surpass him in the team, by mid 2020.

Sorry who is 'Dawn'? Really though someone surpassing him would mean we do have an elite player on our hands but it really depends on what role we want Petracca to play

The way Christian is tracking so far in his years with us, he will get overtaken by younger guys, who play 100%_

And who exactly would they be? Or doesn't your clairvoyance extend that far yet.

So I suggest your post is overly presumptive, possibly disrespectful, and ill founded to boot.

Nah, while copying is a form of flattery, I do need to remind myself what happens when I get into an argument with someone of your ilk ....... experience.

You really do not pay much attention to detail, do you...  and you cannot see his over-condition for elite AFL...  and lack of being 'cut', over most of his exposed body.

OK, your right, experience says not to indulge others in argument, who cannot see.   So, like you, I won't.

I'll try and rein in my argumentative tendencies and simply ask you for further and better particulars when you  pontificate.

In your latest effort you have introduced "his over-condition for elite AFL", can you explain what you mean by over condition?

Also mentioned "cut"  again and the lack thereof (apparently some of him is cut). What is your definition of "cut?"

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
