Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It's very rare for successful KPFs to be drafted outside the first round and usually earlier the better.

That's true...I guess Ben Brown is an exception and this guy has similar attributes.

He impressed me on very limited viewing of the GF, liked the way he attacked the footy.

If he's there at our pick he could be a good get but then again it depends who else is on the board and where the FD rate them.

...by the way, I'm not neglecting Tommy Mc in the late pick KPF story it's just Brown made a better comparison.

Lukosios and King twins aside the quality of mids and flankers in this draft and the want for many clubs to accelerate their ladder position may mean he falls to us. If we rate him we have the list profile to allow him the time to develop at Casey. We can also afford to be more speculative due to the younger and more balanced profile of our list. It wont kill us if we miss with a mid 20s pick when we have so many good young players.

Teams are less looking or needing the superstar forward at any cost and I would suggest unless you have multiple picks early are looking for the lowest risk A grader which is rarely the tall. For every Kennedy, Franklin, Lynch, Hogan there is the increasing cases of Schache, McCartin, Boyd. Add in the impact seen by Jenkins, Brown, T-Mac and others taken late who do the job well and it is not seen as necessary as maybe 5-10 years ago. This could run to our advantage this year.

Yes Bailey Williams has had an up and down year. I rate him very highly. Hard to judge his value in the draft as a high potential ruck/fwd type.

I think he could be a very very good player and I think he is rated between 10-20 and should likely go to Crows, Tigers or Bulldogs.

He would be a good pickup at 23 or 28 if available.

Williams has been mentioned in despatches. I think he might be taken before pick # 23 though.

Callum Twomey disagrees in

Your club's first pick: Who's in the mix?

He has Williams going at pick 53 -

“Pick 53: At the start of the season Bailey Williams was touted as a possible top-10 choice. But the key forward's season was inconsistent, and although he finished well for the Dandenong Stingrays in their TAC Cup Grand Final win, he's dropped down the order. He plays best as a key forward who can pinch-hit in the ruck, and if he got to Hawthorn's first pick they'd have to have a think about adding to their tall stocks.”

Twomey is joking. Bailey Williams is definitely top 30. Top 20 for me given size, athleticism, combo as ruck or key forward, and skills. Leap can get him over taller opponents.  Definitely be gone by 30.  I think we’d have to seriously consider.

Would be good as a developing tall who won't have to play seniors for 2-3 years and can develop properly at VFL level. I also like the look of Ely Smith as an option in the 20's. He is a ready-go mid who is massive at 188cm and 89kg.

Agree. I rate Ely Smith as top 20.  Others had him in 20s/30s but he is the modern ready to play type.  Strong. Quick. Clearance king. Great handball. Kicking is satisfactory but not elite. He gets it and distributed by hand. Not unlike Oliver and they would be two absolute bulls.

Was it Roos that said beware the junior kp player who dominated purely through the fact there were  no matchups for him? Any chance of that with him? At 199 cms, were there just no match ups?

Agree with that sentiment. You watch the King kid (not sure which one, maybe both) vids and he is marking over kids who are six inches shorter. Chuck him next to an AFL defender and he is knackered.

I suppose it is what separates the good from the bad talent spotters to work out which kid can translate it into a senior environment

Very great attraction for this young bloke, fwd KP or taller outside mid. Given a senior list training regimen, I see a breakout player in the making. Needs aerobics but who doesn't at that young age in order to compete with other players at that level and it will do him no harm at all.

Rance's guide apparently went home and told all his family the Australians have a new way to exchange pleasantries. You reach for the handshake, and at the moment there's contact you throw yourself backwards and to the ground, rolling around grabbing yourself. It'll be all over China soon.

I would suggest that Roos was referring to the big strong kids that develop early but have little upside.

I don't like talking about kids that I haven't seen  but on reports and highlights this kid has a decent tank and moves well in traffic as well as being strong in the air.

On appearances he is the type of tall you probably should be looking at.

DEE-RUBBING by George on the Outer

For the second week in a row, the Demons had to endure some particularly oppressive match conditions — this time, playing in 30 degree temperatures at the MCG, following the humid sticky Sydney atmosphere of last week.   The warmer conditions didn’t seem to worry the Dee’s since the ball was so much easier to handle, and handle it with surety they did in handing out a 45 point drubbing to the much fancied Western Bulldogs.   After a slow start that saw the Dogs out to

CROSSING THE PICKETT LINE by The Oracle

Melbourne’s performance in losing its Round Zero contest in Sydney has certainly caused the club, the coach and the players to come firmly under the watchful eye of the football world and exposed all of its aspects to a microscopic lens.   Much of the commentary surrounding them has been less than complimentary and, while some might argue that this is unfair after only one round, leaving aside some of the scuttlebutt that surrounds a lot of the discussion around the game, a fair amoun
