Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

F: Melksham, T.McDonald, Gawn

Vandenberg and Hannan off the bench that's a good enough forward line.

We have rolled the dice on Weiderman becoming a player. Signs were there vs Geelong, 2019 we find out if he can do it week in and week out.

Maybe Nasher could try and coax PJ out of retirement to be the 3rd tall tonight. Talk about on-field leadership!

If it doesn’t work we can always coax the other PJ Paul Johnson out of retirement to be the 3rd tall!

The idea that we just have to find somebody to kick 50 is simplistic - we've just traded a key forward for a key defender, the idea is that we concede less goals because of that so the burden on one player to kick 50 and replace Hogan is a myth.

I think many here are missing the point. No team keeps all their best players on the paddock the whole year. The smart teams manage a list with talent in reserve.  So say T Mac misses another 2 months with foot problems. Is Weid alone our power forward and path to a premiership?

Hogan was contracted and agreed to play for at least another year (perhaps more). You don't let player like that go....ever, unless absolutely no alternative!

ugh...there was no effing alternative was there... FFS - let it go, he did not want to be within the 4 walls of the melbourne football club.

Jesse did not kick a lot of goals when it mattered most.

Preuss and / or Max will quite likely spend quite a bit of time up forward when a tall marking option is needed.  They would both be difficult match ups.

The recruiting department obviously saw the writing on the wall for Jesse either this year or next, and felt that despite his undoubted talent his absence could be covered, as it was in the vital last 4 victories of the year, and remembering that was without the added tall Preuss to share Max's ruck load and releasing him forward..

Not that hard to grasp is it.

Mahoney "ok Goody, the plan is to trade out Hogan Kent and Tyson, and trade in May, Kolathingy and Preuss, we haven't any idea or plan going forward as to what the forward line will look like, that ok with you?

Goody "sure"

Thing is possibly unlike your good self they do have a clue as to a plan. It's not really that overly disguised either. . Am sure you'll twig ;)

With Preuss coming in, he or Max can spend some time forward when Preuss is in the side. I am surprised that not much has been said about bringing in Preuss, I think it’s a much better get than most seem to realise

Opinions please.

I agree with you, but the early hints are that they won't play two ruckmen.

i think Fritsch will play forward. I rate him highly but overall I regret the loss of Hogan

We are better defensively with a fit Lever and May, better by maybe 3-4 goals.

Losing Hogan makes us 2 goals on average worse. However if we can keep the differential high enough, the total score is irrelevant.

Not yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up being better.

Hope you're right. I don't see it personally though.

Next few years particularly... all about TMac.

I have said it since before his good games in the finals, but Weid gave a taste of what is to come, the kid is very aggressive in the air, he will kick his fair share of goals, but his competitiveness will lead to many more.

Next year will be about development and improvement, but expect to see many and regular glimpses of his potential next year

Hopefully even more than that. This is flag time for MFC.

He won’t be at his peak next year, but he will be an important player

That's what worries me a bit. I know they're different beasts, and Jesse had a bigger body even in his late teens, but in his first 4 years... hell his first season... he showed more than Weed. I'm sick to death of hearing about what a player "could" be after years in our system. Especially after one just left who was never about potential. He showed the real thing from day one.

All is forgiven though if your predictions about his future come true. I lived through Watts though. So I'm hardly in a positive frame of mind.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
