Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If Tyson nominates Essendon. I wonder if we could prize McDonald-Tipungwati off of them. At first glance they'd be horrified to part with a 'cult' hero. But looking at Tysons numbers, he's a far superior and dependable player to have on a team thats lacking in the middle, he'd compliment Merrett and Heppell. Extracting and feeding it to them where they can do damage with their disposal on outside. Whereas in Tipungwati we get a stay at home crumber that offers elite pressure with his speed, something we've been missing to some degree. Throw in Garlett if need be to sweeten the deal.

Can we not become ‘those types’ of fans

You're mad if you think our depth player who would we'd gladly send to a good home, where he'd only compete to improve them would somehow net us a contracted best 22 important player from another club. Even more mad if you think just throwing Garlett in - who should be retiring - would help.

Tyson is depth because we bat deep (Well actually he was best 22 in our finals) - Essendon don't bat deep, therefore he's best 22. How is that madness? We're not 'sending' to a good home, we're trading because of surplus.

Edit: And from my understanding from a few Bomber fans, Tipungwati is not a consistent performer. He can be patchy and also a one way runner. There are drawbacks to both Tipungwati & Tyson.

Tyson isn't a walk up start at the Bombers. He'd give them more competition in a role where they are weaker than us, but he'd still be behind Merrett, Heppell, Zaharakis and Dev Smith  and most likely behind Myers who finally got it together this year. So really he'd be competing with the likes of Parish and Langford for centre square minutes.

He doesn't have equal value to a player like Tippa who plays an important role in a difficult to find position. And he certainly doesn't have more value to an extent that Essendon would entertain yet alone even do that trade.

Fair enough. But I do think we're underselling him a little. Put him back in the middle where he was a runner up in the 2014 best and fairest (4th in 2016) with dedicated minutes and he can excel again. Becoming a regular 30 disposal player. Zaharakis pushed to wing, Dev Smith at HBF. His stats take a noticeable dip this year because of being played out of position. Anyway, the initial comment above about 'those fans' supposes that we're all on the same page in regards to Tysons value. I think he has a big upside that a few clubs will at least bite on a 30-40 pick. Perhaps that's not enough for Tipungwati, but i don't think it's as clear cut. A season or two more of inconsistency and he'd be potentially on the table to address a deficiency somewhere else.  Re Garlett, well who knows if he can switch it on again with senior selection somewhere else. He isn't at a retirement age yet.

i bloody hope not.. we can do better than that. we ain't using that 2019 first unless its for whitfield/kelly..

That's actually a fantastic deal for us. Our pick next year should be 14+.... and Tyson is likely worth a second round.

Would do that in a heart beat.

Why on earth would Tyson agree to play at GC?

He spent two years at GWS when they went 3-41.

Then years later finally plays finals in his home town and is content with life. Only to be told he'll be playing for a 2 or 3 win Gold Coast side for the next couple of years.

Dom going to GC could really help the May trade deal move along, as we would have to give a lesser pick and it might be able to be done without reference to the Hogan deal.

I reckon the only club with any interest in Tyson will be Carlton, they need an inside mid to help Cripps.  I reckon that pick 42ish they just got off Geelong would be around the mark

Well you aren't correct, there are other clubs interested and one would surprise.

I reckon Roosy would have given the inside mail to Dew...he is a Dom fan.

The terms would want to be very good for him to make the move though.

4 more years at current pay would do it. Think they said he is on $500k per year.

Won't get that from anyone else.

Correct. I know of 4 definitely keen and 2 that potentially. So there is a market for him.

They must see something most of us miss, all I see with Tyson is a bloke with no defensive skills, limited running capacity and can't hit targets

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
