Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

If he's really set on going home,  I think its entirely understandable that we, as supporters, try to focus on his shortcomings. His injuries, his pace, his  leap, his defensive pressure or what have you. Its a way to feel better.  I think deep down we all know he's a gun.....whether some of the mentioned "flaws"   derail his  trajectory  into a  lynch type player only time will tell.  But we all know he's a gun , at some level, anyway.

His dad died and he had his own brush with cancer. No small things for a 20? year old . Both things can make you wonder about family and where you belong. Him going this year at least lets us trade for him.  we're in the happy position where its possible we may not go backwards ( perhaps, depending on trades, even take a tiny step forward) without him.

Lets make the best of this we can

I agree completely. If Hogan wants to head back to WA, which admittedly is contrary to a lot of the media this year. If he is offered a monster deal in excess of 1mil per season, and Freo are going to offer up two top 10 picks, that is hard to ignore.  Equally it could also have a couple of spin off benefits.  Firstly could we secure May, who is certainly an upgrade in defence for us along with Lever returning next year.  Secondly it is likely to free up salary space to make a late play for Gaff to disrupt North's plans for him.  Depending on how much we have to pay for May.  We don't have Vince and I'm still not sure whether Lewis could be quietly asked to consider taking up a coaching role in 2019 with the club.

At the end of it, if we enabled us to pinch Gaff, May and bring in Pruess along with a top 10 pick. Could anyone complain? (Except my 13 yr old daughter who has bit of a crush for Jesse!)

You mean like GAJ going to Gold Coast and Buddy to Sydney?

It's pretty simple if he wants to go it's a money or lifestyle choice, nothing to do with us. If he wants to go then we cash in now while we can get something for him. He's doing us a favour IMO by letting us know now before he becomes a free agent.

After the club has supported him through all the terrible things he has gone through in the last few years it’s the right thing to do for the club and his playing mates at it if he decides to leave.

Would Freo not just wait another year so they don't have to pay overs and pick him up in free agency? Gives them more time to sort out their key pieces before then.

Nah because we could convince him to stay or another club could get in his ear. They are desperate to sign a big name and will cough up to make it happen.

And you will have to find a new profile pic as well DL?

Im still 50/50 on trading him.

From a Freo point of view (which I know none of us care for) it seems like a pretty silly list decision to sell the farm for Hogan. They can have a crack next year when he's out of contract and save their picks to really build a good midfield core. Just seems like a Mitch Clark type move.

To show his support for the club and players before such an important game, I agree, red flag.....

I know not everyone is the same but it's interesting how Lever was always at training sessions and Roaming Brians but Hogan was not to be seen. I'm sure someone will come up with a good reason for that but it's eye catching.

Because Freo will be worried about big brother West Coast swooping in as a replacement for Josh Kennedy

Lever was given a backline coaching/mentoring role.  He was there in an official capacity.

I find myself far more ambivalent about this than I would have been three years ago. That said, we don’t need to delude ourselves in to thinking we don’t need him or he won’t be a loss; he will most definitely be a loss.

But if it has to be, it has to be. Early in the rebuild, this would have been an enormous setback. Right now, we’ve got two other lesser but competent key forwards in TMac and Weid to mean we can still kick goals without him. We’ve got shrewd list managers who know how to get the job done in the trading department. There is an opportunity to use this situation to fast track development in other areas of the ground we are lacking, such as Tyson and Jones playing wing or going in to the VFL grand final without a ruckman.

I still hope he doesn’t go, but if he must, we’re in as good a position to deal with it, and possibly even use it to our advantage, than we ever have been.

Dees hold the cards here. We will only move on Hogan if doing so improves our team.

The dream scenario would see us land: Gaff, May and a top 10 pick. Fanciful perhaps, but an improvement to the team definitely.

Hogan exiting would open up a war chest for Gaff. If anything we could slightly back end to line up with Lewis and Jones exits at the end of 2019 (at the latest).

if we can't identify a move that improves the team he stays, for 1 more season at least.

Is Jesse really a FA next year? Not certain the below is correct (source: Footy Wire) but he seems to be too young to be a RFA at the end of next year?  2018-09-26_9-45-26.png.aac56d128619d3981f5aec63d1b0aefa.png

I believe he qualifies to be a RFA end of 2020 season.

Think about the risks to them. Jesse meets a woman that will not leave Melbourne(the city) and she has his baby. Would he still go?

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
