Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Lol this is amateur hour by Bell.

Tries to leak a supposed reason for him cancelling the deal to cover his [censored].

Where he has gone wrong is it doesn’t explain why Freo made an offer to Demons (Pick 11), when they supposedly hadn’t even agreed on a deal with Hogan yet.

Wtf would they have done if we had accepted?

It’s like a few builder mates I have, they get asked to quote for a job and don’t really want to do the job for different reason’s. So they will over quite by 30% or more on the usual rate, if the client says yes... happy days but not a job they were chasing.

Yep,im in the building industry & its 100% what happens.Go for a high price, test the customer (market/club)& if they dont budge well you're no worse off.If they take the bait then you're happy enough to do the work (change clubs)

“A Hogan trade is not dead in the water, but it appears Melbourne will have to buckle first”

I would suggest that first Freo have to buckle with regard to the Neale deal so that they can get pick 5. if they do fold on that then it would be a significant backdown by them and I could see Bell going aggressively at the hogan deal to get his feathered cap.

I read it as though Freo were not prepared to cough up that much money, that many years and those high picks. And therefore Freo called the negotiations off. And that they would offer Hogan the 8x8, but not give up the draft picks.

I could very well be wrong, the article was ambiguous. Having thought about it more, it is a poorly written article, but that doesn't mean there is not a lot of truth in it.

I have no idea about the truth of it, just that it is a terrible piece of so called journalism and has no view other than what Freo say is behind their ‘due dilligence’ comments. It is also logically inconsistent.

The trade process has built into it a mediation phase for when clubs cannot agree on a trade.  I think It is essential to have the mediation process so that difficult trades get done and so that the current Freo position causing a log jam for about 6 players is cleared.

IIR the last time it was used was the Ryder trade to Port.

But in the end Hogan,Beams,Neale,Kelly are all contracted, through their own choice when they last signed,so why should the AFL be able to force clubs into helping them?

I don’t know if I believe the story that negotiations fell through due to the 8 years/$8mil request. I’d imagine the contract length and amount would be agreed upon by a player’s manager and the club chasing the player prior to the two clubs negotiating the trade.

Isn't this the problem though? What are they thinking? We'll give a bloke 8 mil over 8 years but not pay the commensurate trade value? Hogan isn't a free agent, they have to give up something.

I'm not saying he's worth 2 early first rounders, but he's worth more than 11 and 23, and much closer to 5, 23 and 30.

Yeah for sure, but maybe they think cumulative cost for Hogan Picks/Price/Years is too much. Maybe if Hogan's management agreed to 5 x 5 they would be happy to give 5, 23 and 30. But who knows

I think they said on the Fox programme that Hogan is earning that much next year. That makes an 8x8 offer unacceptable.

Imagine the human pyramid, climbing all over each other to get a 8 x 8 contract.

$64 million would attract most players I'd reckon.

Peter bell has proven he’s in over his head but imagine entering trade negotiations without knowing the kind of contract the player would be after. And the. Being surprised when the same star player was deemed worthy of two first rounders by the current club. I’m calling BS

The whole article is just a PR statement from Freo. I am not saying that the journalist is biased, just lazy and more like a PR agent than a journo

Very common, even outside footy journalism.  I've written quite a few 'articles' for journos to regurgitate.

If Hogan doesn't go this year I would think he won't go there (to freo) for quite a while. He has ummed and ahhhhed about moving home and really when you look at it I think he thought he might get on a good contract and be on easy street for the rest of his career.

I reckon this is a good thing, He might just dust himself off and having come so close to the crap of off-season moves re-focus and get stuck in.

If this deal doesn't go through (and I hope it doesn't) we may see clear air with Jesse, not the "will he won't he" scenario some posters are afraid of.

Hold out, hold out.

Sun is reporting that Peter Bell is flying into Melbourne tomorrow to resume talks on a deal that will potentially include pick 5 and other picks, thus allowing us to secure May and KK. So, nothing new really, other than what we all knew - Bell was bluffing.

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
