Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'd happily take Cerra off their hands, but what's wrong with a first round draft pick ?

What's wrong with a combination of players (May, Kolodashnij, Preuss, etc.) and a quality pick ?

My view is we will have an outcome in mind.  If we get the outcome we'll do the trade and if not we won't.  There's nothing wrong with either of your outcomes if that's what the FD is trying to achieve.

What we don't want is two first round draft picks and no Hogan and not being able to use those draft picks for players we need.  We'll only do the Hogan trade if we know we can get what we want.

I suspect the outcome would be may, Kolodjashnij and a presence in ideally the top 10 of the draft. If we don’t get a high quality key position player in where hogan goes out it’s a bad result.

I personally don’t mind the idea of a deal like 9,10 and Pearce from the dockers instead of that higher pick. If we could replace frost and Oscar with May and Pearce I think we go into 2019 with no obvious weakness

I'd argue outside pace is one area you could get us. That's why I'd go hard with that remaining pick and our own future first rounder for a gun mid with toe.

I know you don’t.

I don’t want to see JH kick 70 - 80 goals for Freo the way Kennedy does for Meth Coke.

Carlscum lost out on that trade badly.

I don’t want to see Freo advance such that the entire team can kick more than 70 goals for the season, let alone Jesse ?

Ha anyone thought if Tom Mcdonald gets an injury next year then we are totally and royally screwed. Mcdonald would become our most important player, before even Gawn.

True.  And we still don't really know if Weid will be any good.

Who can remember who West Coast's key forwards were in their 2006 premiership year?

It's still won in the midfield. Who won the North Smith medal this year? Kennedy or Shuey?

What a load of rubbish.

We've thought that in the past when Hogan went down and we handled it fine.

You can't cover everything.  What happens if Jack Riewoldt goes down?  Tom Hawkins?  Buddy?  I'd wager those clubs don't have a suitable back up either, but then these are gun forwards we're talking about.  They don't grow on trees.  You can't have more of them just waiting in the wings when an injury comes along.

Yeah it is a worry but T Mac is pretty hardy aside from the foot issues.  We played our best footy with 2 tall fwds and and I love that strcuture and flexibility we had up front.

whichever way you slice it, losing Hogan would be a massive loss. from age 24-30 I reckon he will dominate the comp

WC won every game this year when Kennedy/Darling played.  They lost 6 when they didn't.

That's West Coast, who did not lead the competition for inside 50s and clearances.

That's all well and good, but it also proves the point that even the best sides don't have a gun replacement hanging around in the twos in case of an injury.  So if Hogan goes, we're still lucky enough to have T Mac and Weideman to play as our tall forwards.  We will be just like any other side.

Yeah well they won the flag. If the game is won out of the midfeild, as you say, then why didn't we win the flag? We are the best out of the middle after all ..

Because West Coast's midfield is a lot more consistent than ours...

That actually doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

My point is - saying things along the lines of "who cares if Tmac goes down and we don't have Hogan, we'll win the game out of the middle" is ludacris. Football is not that simple.

I've never said it's that simple. But I have said games are won in the midfield more often than not.

It’s a fair point, if Hogan goes and now without Pedo as a gap filler, what would be do if we lost either TMAC or Weid? Tim Smith has never shown me anything at AFL level that suggests he is capable. Is he the next in line though? Is Preuss part of this plan?

Preuss or another capable ruck can do the Mason Cox role. Or they can ruck and Gawny can go forward and be a nightmare for a lot of defenders.

Smith played a few decent games this year and should be fitter after a full preseason next year. He competes, that's the main thing you need from back ups. I would say Frost is not completely out of the picture as being capable of this as well. Key defenders just competing at CHF has been a recent trend with guys like Zaine Cordy and Mihocek.

The main solution though is playing through Petracca and Melksham.

Without doubt, what else do you with a resting ruckman other than stick them on the bench. Preuss would only be coming to the club on the proviso that he will be playing games at AFL. So thinking about how we use him and Gawn on game day raises some interesting thoughts

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
