Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

An exchange that saw us lose Hogan and gain May would be terrible and terrible from a PR perspective as well. If we can score May plus a top 10 pick it would be more palatable

If this happened i would be utterly dismayed. Hogan is Younger, more talented and a forward - more valuable on so many levels. I want pick 5 AND pick 6 or another really good player (cerra, brayshaw). I have a feeling freo may try to offer us pick 5 and 2019 first rounder, im not sure how i feel about that... i would probably want the dees to play hard ball and get pick 6 or a good player as well.

Adelaide played hard ball with lever and we payed overs in the end.. Time for the dees to do the same

Can we afford to pay him 1 million a season? Would that kind of figure keep him? Given that we are in a Premiership windrow.

Who cares it's all fugazi. Didn't hurt Hawks in 2013. Didn't hurt Tigers last year. Won't impact the teams performance so who cares?

We know it's fugazi and it won't or shouldn't affect the team performance but I don't want to listen to or read about it every time I pick up a paper and I am quite certain Goodwin would not want to answer questions about Hogan at every press conference. As far as the team is concerned I don't give a rat's who plays as along as they end up being successful.

Looking at Garlett's 2017 highlights, we would have been a better team if he had been up to scratch this year. Add Hogan and McDonald and we would have been deadly up forward.

I’ve heard 1.2 mil on the table. To simply accept May in exchange for Hogan would be us getting completely and utterly bent over. May is a good average backman. We’ve gotta be strong with this deal. We are not to get screwed otherwise fans will be furious

Yep I’m hearing that ballpark as well and 6 -7 years

if you can offer a bloke a deal like that good luck arguing that player who is also contracted isn’t worth picks 5 & 6

Garlett is exactly the player we needed this year as our forward line was awful when the ball hit the ground.

It's just a shame he couldn't find any form at all.

If Hogan is worth $1.2 million a year then Tom McDonald is worth $2 million a year.

Mentally I'll asume Hogan is gone until I hear otherwise.  Once I would have been gutted, but not so now.  I'm probably more bullish than some with Weideman, but he's going to be a star.  He's different to Hogan, but I think he'll become (in time) no less impressive.  He and McDonald represent a great platform for the next 5 years at least.

If Freo want Hogan I want Cerra.  I know he just extended his contract, but he's a Victorian boy who may like the idea of coming home.  Cerra is going to be a phenomenal midfielder and he's just the class we need.  Even next year, his second, he'd be a staple in our best team.  Freo will say he's off limits, but this is where it's good to have the whip hand.

The only way this makes sense is if his foot injury is really bad. Fine then, take the money and security.

Otherwise, surely the manager would say stay. Win games. Maybe a premiership. In 5 years take a Buddy deal and cash in.

Going to a failing team is crazy at this stage of his development. It appears such a bad option for Hogan that it seems impossible. But many posters on here rate Chook in Perth as a solid voice.

Definitely want to keep Hogan. Definitely.

But if he wants to go home and Freo did the right deal (2x 1st round picks) then Dees must work out the best outcome.

Could Freo offer their current pick 6 (assume Suns get pick for Lynch compo)and Ed Langdon.  That would be tempting.

I also hope that in the back of Jesse's mind, he respects and demands us getting maximum value for him considering how the club have treated him through all of his issues since day one, I hope he says to Freo, I want Melb to be looked after, much like Danger did with the Crows.

How do we get Cerra, don't new draftees have to be at their drafted club for a minimum 2 years? Not making him available until 2019?

Tom Boyd left GWS after one year.

That is a big call, swyl. Totally different styles I admit; however, Hogan knows where to be to get the ball and what to do with it in those critical moments of fwdline panic.

It is sad, in many ways, Febes; it almost looks like we have talked ourselves into to the loss of Hogan - one of our greatest assets in recent years who really only needs a run of successive games bar injuries to reach his pedestal of greatness.

Draft picks are severely overrated ... the fact of the matter is that top 5 or top 10 picks are hit and miss.  Half of all first round draft picks are busts in terms of expectations.  B- or worse and the facts bear that out.  And most if not all first round draft picks are standout juniors.

So those are the facts.  Bearing that in mind we did not pay overs for Lever at all.  If you want to believe the bs & spin,  you'll believe otherwise.

So if we want 'like-for-like' for Hogan,  even 2 top-end draft picks doesn't cut it ... the percentage play says 1 of those 2 picks will be a bust and with the other pick,  we have to wait at least 3 years for the prospect to become a decent footballer.

If we want more than 'like-for-like' we'll need more than 2 top-end draft picks.  Too many people including the so-called 'experts' value a draft pick in terms of best-case-scenario.  Which is the wrong way to view matters.  The best way to view it is if you were the CEO of a company who oversees realistic budgets.

We can try but I doubt we'll be getting Cerra. Players don't usually end up parts of these deals, it's usually player for picks which may be on traded for another player. Freo giving up Cerra for Hogan would be cutting off the nose to spite the face especially considering they're already losing Neale.

We think we've got the whip hand cos he's contracted, they'll think they've got the whip hand cos he's agreed to move. Our FD doesn't usually stuff around making ambit claims, we generally come to the table with a fair offer.

It was reported a meeting between Jesse’s management and the club was arranged for today. Is that correct?

Hopefully we hear something, I dislike this feeling of hanging on to very slim hope he will turn around and say he’s staying.

No matter what we get in return, losing Hogan instantly makes us a worse team. He is an a-grade CHF with at least 9 year’s of footy ahead of him. You build teams around blokes with his level of talent.

He is a known quantity, a very valuable quantity. Draft picks (no matter how high) are an unknown quantity and remain so for a few years once drafted.

2 top 10 picks has to be the minimum, and that is to try and bring in ready made talent, our time of relying on the draft is over, we are building for the now.

The only drafting of KPP kids I would dare dream of is the King twins. And that is a pipe dream that would still take years to come to fruition.

There's no-one fairer than the Dees when it comes to trading.  I'm well aware of that.

And you're probably right.  But Cerra would be the type of outcome I'd like.  I know it's not likely.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
