Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I think it was the strong links back to Perth all the time that made me feel this way.

I don't begrudge him at all, it isn't a criticism just something I have always felt.

Yep he’s never felt settled here. I think a part of me always knew he’d leave prematurely

Hogan is a gun and gave us hope when we had none, it will be a shame to lose him. But I’m also excited to see who/what we end up with as a result of trading him, I think we’re in for a cracking trade period just quietly. #WhatdoesETthetradewhispererknow?

Come on ETtradewhisperer... You need to earn this title of greatest newsbreaker on Demonland and give us something fresh.

He must be gone then based on Tim's great journalistic efforts to uncover this.

Journo's are paid to make statements to keep them employed.  If they don't make big statements and just deal with facts no one reads or listens to them.  If they are wrong no one holds them to account, they can say what they want, make stuff up would it right and get away with it, bit like our politicians.

We have 117 pages based on Journo's hunches not facts.  Until we get some concrete comment for Hogan, his manager, Melbourne or Fremantle, he is a Melbourne player no point everyone saying we don't need him because we do what team doesn't need a 50 goal per year forward.

Take a deep breath.

Its looking more likely to happen than not and im simply passing on what was said on a radio station.

Two weeks ago on this thread posters were declaring Hogan as settled into Melb city and used Goody's comments as proof he was happy at the club and in the city. They hounded alternative speculation demanding the thread be closed.

Now we are openly saying he was never really settled here and inferring he never really bought in. With little to no actual confirmation, it's a matter of grabbing what we can as he supposedly leaves.

We're a fickle bunch!

Fair point... one never really felt his comittment.

True or not I think that was somehow picked up by supporters. Recently there was a thread on here about favourite players; Gawn, Oliver and Jetta were the favourite favourites but Hogan, our leading goal kicker at the time, hardly cracked a mention

Strange how those who got their panties in a twist when others couldn't understand why they would be talking trades about a player who had, at the time, given no indication of wanting out, are now the ones not talking about the topic at all but are looking for attention and some sort of pat on the back.

Funny, that.

The whole point is that the kid is aloof and shows very little emotion. He is hard to gage and I reckon some see that as a non committal attitude. What emotion we do see is often negative on-field stuff. I have never had an attachment to Hogan. He may be a super talent but he is uninspiring.

The bloke is 100 per cent out the door and the sooner the circus moves on the better. I wish him all the best in Perth, I don’t know that he has the mental resolve to fulfill his potential. Dealing with a dill like Ross Lyon will be fun for him. At least he can have a surf every day

I'm excited to see what we can do with the haul we receive. I'm surprisingly not that upset with Hogan leaving.

For what it's worth Sam McClure has said that Gold Coast won't accept anything but overs for May this season, and will happily let him walk in FA next year and take the compo pick. Surely a top 10 pick for him and KK would be overs?

I'm with you on this mate, before he signed his contract extension i made a comment on gere that eventually he will go back to Perth. When that would happen i wouldn't know. I got shouted down by someone ( who i wont name ) on here who thinks his [censored] don't stink, and made out that he was invested in this footy club....

Anywhere from a personal point of view theres just been too much noise on Hogan come this time of the year ever year. When theres smoke there's fire and i think his time is up with us.

As much as i can't stand him, i look at someone like Alex Neale Bullen who's from SA, who shows passion and is heavily invested in this club by taking up a leadership role up forward. Bleeds and loves the footy club.

I have never once had that feeling with Hogan.

thats just  marking the mark on the turf.  Gamesmanship.  Clubs often say one thing for their members and public to swallow... meanwhile the FD  get busy in the real world.

Translation...May is gone..we know it...cant just give him away.

@Clint Bizkit I agree with the ‘feeling’...

I think it is because he never talked and teammates never talked about him. It’s hard to grow an attachment between player and club with no fuel to form that attachment. Brayshaw, Harmes, Oliver, and Petracca I can picture earnestly talking about the club or the coach or their teammates (or being talked about in CPs case). Hogan has always been aloof in that regard.

They talk a big game for a club in crisis.

They'll accept what they are offered this year or receive a end of first round or second round compo pick next year.

I think we'll have to give more than one 1st rounder for both May and KK, maybe a 1st and a 3rd.

Happy to buy back in to the first round of the draft, it's a super crop this year.

the wiggle room...so to speak for GC is that it is very likely  that our trading with them will involve at least 2 players. This opens up the box as it were.  We're now dealing with  a"'package deal".. Melbourne offers X...we get Y. If it was/had been just about one player then GC has very little room to move ( in its own mind as far as delivering to the masses ).

Fortunately  this way it would appear both parties can come away smiling...Good for us

Just want an announcement either way. The suspense is horrid. Stay or go, don’t care. We do need to get on with business and the sooner the better.

If we land May and KK and end up with a first rounder, a win for us.

Other option.

Freo give us Neil and pick 5

I thought Jesse would play a major part for us striving to gain the ultimate success in the years to come. I never once entertained the thought of the club trading him, but as we all know favourites leave from time to time for one reason or another.

This would have been a major blow a few years ago but knowing we have some serious talent on the list and an opportunity to add some more eases the pain to a degree. To say I’m not upset about it though would be a lie.

What chance Saints would be interested in Jesse?  They have not been the same since Riewoldt finished.

Who are all the clubs that need a CHF...  and have the wherewithall ?

If they finish last the compo pick might be pick 2..

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
