Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Agreed if Hogan has made it clear that he will not be at Melbourne beyond 2019.

Mahoney is between a rock and a hard place.

So I would not judge him on the Hogan scenario.

The best deal possible depends entirely on what other parties want or are prepared to give up.

Rock/hard place is exactly what this is.

And that's a perfect definition of negotiation. Some people think it's defined as getting what you think something is worth, but that does not take into account the other party, and the fact that both parties will not come to the table with equal bargaining power. It might look like we have the upper hand with a gun, contracted player, but that's clearly not all that's in play here. If it was, we would have received our 2 first rounders last week.

If true he told the club that he won't sign a contract extension, then Jesse has virtually revealed that he is gone (either this year or next).

Gotta make the best of a bad situation i guess (and hope that TMAC doesn't go down otherwise we are stuffed).

People keep saying this but it is not different to any other club.

Grundy goes down, Collingwood are stuffed. Kennedy or Darling goes down, Eagles are stuffed. Martin goes down, Richmond are stuffed.

Port just got picks 15, 35 and Burton for wingard with a pick swap at the back in Hawthorn's favour.

Given Burton would have been worth a first rounder alone, it seems they are going to get a significantly better deal for Wingard than we get for Hogan.

They handed pick 6 away....

I'd like them both.

I'm still intrigued about the request to trade our 2019 first rounder. Will we try and package this in a deal with Freo or Gold Coast or another club?

My guess is we intend to trade it for picks this year.

We have 7 list spots, GCS only have a couple.

GCS have lots of top 30 picks, we currently have 0.

GCS have academy players next year so need future draft points.

So swapping our future 1st round and this year's pick 36 for this year's pick 19 and pick 29, may be the deal.

Pick 5 is much more valuable than 6.

Seems unlikely,  but while port held pick 6, both port and Adelaide would have traded lots for pick 5 so that they got the highest SA talent.

Now neither will want to trade up to pick 6. Very smart move by port.

I'm actually surprised GCS haven't given away pick 2 for pick 5 or 6 or similar and a player. They can't keep kids, and need mid tier players.

really works out to be 15 & Burton for Wingard with some later pick swaps... Hardly the most amazing deal in the world.

What if GCS see Rankine and Lukosius as the superstars most draft watchers believe they’re going to be?

You don’t give up that unless you get a monster offer. You certainly don’t give it up for ‘mid tier’ players.

No matter what happens today in the trades I can guarantee you that the same media [censored] that said Jesse isn't worth 2 first round picks will be the same [censored] saying we stupid for giving away Jesse for nothing.

If i was to ask someone about Jessie's intentions for who he was intending to be with next season , it would have been Lever, and i doubt he would feel on the spot for someone saying that........

I also believe hogan leaving opens the door for weeds stay. Pies will be all over him and hogan out means he will be the key forward.

Valid points.

I'd be taking a risk assessment approach based on recent industry experience.

Their culture is poor, they are trading out senior players, they have little leadership and were belted all year.

Will these kids make an immediate impact or will they need a few years to hit their straps?

What is the likelyhood they arent as good as discussed?

How big is the go home risk? (Remembering that GCS have really struggled to keep players the last few years).

The 2010 MFC model was get rid of senior players and bring in star kids. It didn't work.

Are they better off bringing in 4 x 2nd tier but ready to compete players for 2019, with a view to stabilizing and building of field culture in 2019 and bringing key talent in for 2020, or spending it on 2 risky but massive upside kids?

Don't forget their trade value back to an Adelaide club. Both clubs are obviously desperate to land them, so you'd think they'd be looking at 2 decent first rounders in a couple of years. There's an investment aspect to it.

I was hoping we'd trade down to the early picks to grab Rankine and let the Crows knock on our door in a couple of years. Ah, while you're here boys, Jakey Lever wants to say hi, twice.

And some on here will still think we are getting shafted.  It's amazing, yet disturbing at the same time.

Still looks fine to be - If 6 is acceptable to GCS for May and KK it doesn't matter that it isn't #5.  Whatever gets the deal done.

It will do some heads in on this site.  Some will be much happier that we didn't cough up 5 for May, but then they will feel agony at getting 6 for Hogan.

I've wondered about this.

There were rumors of Weid wanting to leave and other clubs being keen.

We obviously wouldn't want to lose both. Perhaps with Hogan wavering and not committing beyond 2019, we made a decision that trading Hogan was needed to ensure we didn't lose two KPFs this year and next.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
