Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

"Wantaway star Lachie Neale met with new Fremantle footy boss Peter Bell on Wednesday - the first meeting between the pair.  ...Bell believed he could convince Neale to stay at the club, but he failed to do so with the midfielder remaining “adamant” he wants to head to Brisbane.

“It was Peter Bell’s belief that he was going to be able to get him to turn around and say ‘yep, I’ll stay at Fremantle’,”

Bell is living in another universe.  Well, I guess he won't get the 'feather in his cap' he was bragging about!

Good on Neale for sticking to his guns.  If he had had thoughts of staying, the shenanigans by Bell this week would have convinced him to keep running as fast as he can!

it may have been mentioned previously but besides wanting to get out of Freo why is Neale so keen to get to Brisbane is it $ or something more?

Probably just as far away from Lyon as possible... Brisbane is the furthest !! ;)

One doesn't put much faith in opposition fan sites but the few posts on Dockerland that other posters have kindly linked to reveal an almost universal belief that the injury to Hogan severely impacts his worth.

Hope they are not proved correct.

On the other hand there are now a few emerging with comments to the affect that they don't want to miss the opportunity.

Always interesting looking at things from others perspectives.

AFL Site article sums it up nicely.

"

MELBOURNE is still waiting for a reasonable offer from Fremantle for key forward Jesse Hogan, Demons football manager Josh Mahoney says.

Hogan, 23, has told the Demons he would be open to a trade back to his home state of Western Australia and toured the Fremantle facilities last week

The Demons reportedly rejected the Dockers' first offer for Hogan on Thursday, which included pick No.11 and a future second-round draft selection.

"Jesse came to us and said he wants to explore the opportunity," Mahoney said.

"Basically, if Fremantle want to get Jesse Hogan, they know the deal they have to give for us and Jesse's aware of that.

"They haven't spoken to us about anything that entertains us at all about doing a deal."

Melbourne is also in the race for Gold Coast captain Steven May, but Mahoney made it clear that the Hogan deal will take precedence before any discussions take place with the Suns.

"We've got other deals we want to do," Mahoney said.

"At the moment  the offer they're giving to us doesn’t help us in any way."

Hogan gone and we have May and KK, so nothing much.

Also Freo shouting all the other FD's lunch.

Rather mangled use by Josh of the word 'entertains'.  If he had said that Freo had said something to entertain us (with helpless laughter) he would have been closer to the mark.

Fear is the greatest motivation in buying/selling.

Some will fear missing out irregardless.

Playing hypotheticals... what if the medical report said "strained (or similar) navicular". Can be managed and with good management that may include resting of the player for 4-6 weeks movement should be relatively unaffected.

Let's face it medical opinions like those of lawyers are never clear cut.

Fast forward to 2019 and he plays 14 games for MFC while he is injured/rested for the remainder. Kicks 38 goals.

Is he worth more or less next year?

It’s concerning that Freo have such a rank amateur in such a senior position (or so it seems - anyone know his resume prior?). It would be like Mahoney trying to do a deal for one of our best players with their BigFooty board. It’s all based on some skewed ideal rather than sensible reality.

With this bloke at their helm I’m expecting Hogan to play for Melbourne in 2019 now.

Bit harsh Nasher, Bell is an upgrade on Steve Rosich ;)

Freo lost/let go both their list manager and their general manager of football. Bell fills the latter, but surely they would have elevated an existing scout or similar albeit temporarily. But they are making themselves looks like fools at the moment.

I think he's worth less to us next year ( end )

The time ideally is now.

The thing about fearing losing out / missing out is logic often gets diluted.

You of all people should know that nowhere did I say Jesse had nominated Freo in any official capacity, all I said was, according to Mitch Cleary, Jesse has said he wants to play for them, the rest to me is common sense, maybe not for some.

You're right. Apologies. Don't multi task early in the morning, Adam.

I would still say you seemed to me to be stating Cleary's word as fact though.

ok but under my hypothetical he's only worth a late first rounder now.

Suppose what I am positing is that if we keep him and he plays 22 plus games and kicks 50 his comparative worth sky rockets.

I was very much into the trade Hogan for value scenario but if the value proposition is being impacted by a perceived injury my mind says keep him and play it out.

Whatever happens, I just hope this doesn't drag on until last minute Wednesday.

Freo can afford to wait once the Neale trade is done. We cant, if we want May and dont have a plan B for getting him without Freos pick.

GC may also refuse to trade May if it gets too late in the period as it leaves them no time to use what we give them. They've already said something along those lines.

The AFL Integrity Department have charged Freo with bringing the game into disrepute.

And the AFL Bad Faith and Bullsh*t Department have given Freo an award for their contribution to bad faith and bullsh*t

Once again, there is a difference between Hogan being open to the trade if it can be facilitated and Hogan nominating Freo. A big difference in fact.

I'm not saying the trade won't get done. I'm not even saying Jesse doesn't want to play at Freo but the fact remains he hasn't nominated Freo, so I wouldn't be posting, as you have, that Jesse has nominated Freo based on a journos say so.

Sorry AF, I'm happy to assume that he has nominated Freo but hasn't gone public. Happy to read between the lines on this one

Peter Bell is a very smart man, he knows that he has to look like taken the hard line approach but also knows he can't walk away from this trade week with just Lobb, he wants Lobb and Hogan to show the Footy world how good he is.  His Ego will play into our hands at some stage, he wants two prized recruits to create some hype around the Dockers for 2019

Also Ross Lyon can't build a list from bottom up, at Sydney, St Kilda and Fremantle is was about adding experience players to improve your list, look at his track record not much development of kids.

His value should be higher now, but demand for him next year could be higher if WCE join the race for his services.

Yep, why would MFC lose an A grade talent like Hogan and not get the picks we need to get May across the line

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
