Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Red, the issue is that if we play too hardball on Hogan, we could end up missing out on any gun kid in this year's draft, as well as missing out on May, and our list is in no different shape than what it was two weeks ago.

But you don't get the gun kid at 5 if you haven't got the pick.

What I was saying is that obviously it is better to get more than less. Some on here are absolutely happy to fold and accept less.

Of course it is a balance and I have faith in the FD to get a good deal, but surely we would prefer the best possible deal, rather than a quick one.

It's posts like these that expose the soft underbelly of some supporters.

Or it's posts like these who expose Cro Magnon supporters who are all club and no brain.

I can see the trade now:

Beams to Collingwood for pick 18

Neale to Brisbane for pick 5 and 18

Hogan to Freo for pick 5 and 18

May and KK to Dees for pick 5

There's no way that either of the two QLD clubs do that but man would I love that

The new Commodore is made by Opel and looks like a classy Euro car, basically because it is. Was going to get an Audi but the new model looks and offers more.

So don't talk down to Commodores. ?

It depends if you waste so much time getting a Porsche that you lose the opportunity to buy a better house.

Or you end up spending a year living in your Porsche.

So ignoring the analogies, are you saying you would be happy to get pick 5 and give it to GC for May and that is the end of the deal.

May for Hogan.

I would be very upset.

You think Neale is worth Beams and pick 5?

Didn’t Beams declare his love for Brisbane during their BnF? He told them he’s staying and that he loves “youse all” about a dozen times:

Had his fingers crossed behind his back.

I would say it's the missus that wants to go home.

No I don’t but I think they are looking for a circuit breaker, that’s why they have opted to help facilitate a trade for Beams.

You’re right though Brisbane will probably ask for something in return from Freo.

Unless we get 2 picks under 10 or equivalent I would rather keep Hogan. Some of the pragmatic options in this thread are under by a long way for a Key position forward entering his prime.

We need to have a plan b to get May.

With Dayne Beams now wanting to go back to the Pies I smell a complicated four way trade involving him Hogan, Neale, Tom Langdon and picks involved.

could be as many as seven teams involved...

brisbane - neale in for beams plus picks movement
collingwood - beams in for langdon plus picks movement
fremantle - hogan in for may plus picks movement
gc17 - may out plus picks movement
melbourne - hogan out for may (and kk?) plus picks movement
st. kilda - hannebery in plus picks movement
sydney - langdon in for hannebery plus picks movement

No, you're now saying that instead of a Porsche I would get a Malvern Star.

I would want more than just pick 5, and we'll get more. It's the amount not that we differ on.

You originally wanted 3 low picks or no deal. I thought we'd get a low first rounder plus a later first rounder/equivalent player.

The main thing you are missing in these negotiations is opportunity cost. Are you willing to spend it on upgrading the second pick we get for Hogan, or are you willing to spend it on potential deals that may happen later in the trade period?

Yeah Bris would require something else from the Pies. Maybe a player like Josh Thomas who is a Qlder.

But GC could go for May/KK for pick 5. They told KK to look at his options and I get the sense they have no real love for May anymore with the way he's dragged this out. Maybe 5 and a third rounder would ensure it gets done.

If Beams wants to reneg on his club and reneg on his emotional bnf committment to his teammates, he should do the right thing and accept a trade to a Melb club not insist on Collingwood.

There are 10 clubs here.  Wants to come home.  OK, go where he and his club get a decent deal rather than one (Coll) which has little trade currency and could stuff the Lions.  Lions should play hard ball and say 'we will trade you but to a club that gives us the best deal' as GCS have done with May.

To do otherwise is very shallow and casts serious doubts on his claim to trade to come back for personal/family reasons.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
