Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

btw, the 70's called and wants its joke back

How can you be optimistic about a defence that finished bottom 4-6 in key defensive statistical categories?

Because you’re ‘confident’ Oscar and Frost will magically morph into Barrass and McGovern over the off-season?

Seems all you’ve got is a pretty flimsy gut feel and that’s about it.

No progress on the Hogan front today. There's still no word if he's requested a trade or not.

We've had a hypothetical discussion with Freo, which may mean it's been organised behind closed doors already, but until Neale is traded to Brisbane we probably won't see any progress as Freo need that first rounder to satisfy a trade for Hogan.

Jake Lever, our best defender to come back, huge area of improvement. Third time ive said it.

Leaking points does not equal poor key position players. Our mids were all downhill skiers for many games in 2018. If we had matthew scarlett and rance against west coast it would not have made a difference because we gave the ball back in the worst positions on the ground. May good, but we can also do well without him, if we don't get him.

Apologies if this is already up here somewhere...I just cant bring myself to read back 15 pages when nothing has actually happened!

Gary Buckenara in the sun said this about jesses value.

" There is an element of buyer beware with Hogan, however, given he has a long history of injury and illness that would be of concern. Plus there are the attitude issues with his body language and negativity that have been well-documented.I don’t think he’s worth two first-round picks. I place his trade value at an early first-round pick and maybe a swap of second-round picks, but those injury and performance issues impact the Demons’ ability to get a sweetener"

As much as I hate to admit it ( please dont shout at me)  he may well be right. If i think of Oliver leaving  its internal hysteria and wanting to two top 5 picks. Hogan is not affecting me and many here in the same for the reasons I think that Bucky lists.

But..... he is contracted... so freo pay premium which is two top 10 picks. Or we keep him.

I can't think what he is referring to about illness, but if it is his testicular cancer, Buckernara is an idiot.

Forget the West Coast prelim. We were emotionally out of petrol tickets before the ball had been bounced.

Look more at the Grand Final, where you’ve got two quality midfields on their game going at full click. The difference at the end of the day was Kennedy was too big and too good on a few critical occasions for the Pie defenders. Darling too won a few brute strength one on ones that we’re telling. Result? The Eagles return home with a fourth Cup for their trophy cabinet. 5 point victors.

Lever will be a welcome return to the side (let’s hope his knee stands up after a SECOND reco) but he is not a gorilla minder in the manner Steve May is.

Sorry but I’m not willing to trust Oscar and Frost as a pairing on the off hunch that both are going to become AA quality key defenders over the preseason. I don’t just want to make the Big Dance like we’ve done in the past ... I want to win the damned thing. Thankfully it appears our FD are thinking the same thing.

The fact that Collingwood and Hawthorn are also chasing May should tell you something. At the top end winning and losing a flag is a game of slender margins. Go into a Grand Final with a shaky back six at your peril.

He’s right with regards to the foot injury. That’s it. And the foot injury is said to be of no concern.

The whole thing about negative body language comes from those who haven’t watched him play for 12 months. There was little sign of that last season. He’s maturing, like everyone does at different rates,

Hogan had kicked 30 goals by the midpoint of the season, but this fool and others like him are talking about “body language” like it detracts from his trade value . He’s an idiot. Hogan is worth two first round picks. Minimum. If the club accepts anything less it will be daylight robbery.

why do people on demonland twist other people words to support their argument? can't you just say your piece without the propaganda?

No one is talking about Oscar and Frost being AA. Fair if you want may, he is clearly a good addition for us. My opinion is simply that we can win the GF without him.

We can improve defensively the following ways:

1. Greater two way running from the entire team. Our young list will have another preseason, and particularly the young mids will continue to build their tank and be more accountable without the ball.

2. Another pre-season of a core 20 players will mean better chemistry and understanding of defensive structures.

3. Lever will come back in and make a huge difference.

4. Internal improvements from Frost (Skills and football smarts) and Omac (strength and confidence), with the better player taking up the FB position. The loser will bang on the door in the VFL.

5. Potential huge growth from a VFL defender such as Hunt, Smith, Wagner, who could fight their way into the team, and have a great year.

Yep, Adelaide did it with Lever and got exactly what they wanted.

2017 pick 10 and 2018 pick 15 with some later pick swaps was a bargain for Lever.

The 15 may end up being 16 or 17 depending upon Lycett compo and academy matching

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
