Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Farewell Jesse Hogan

Club would know by now. If he's staying we'll know soon. If leaving they will work a deal with Freo before announcing anything. Freo don't have the currency to do a deal yet. They have to do Neale trade 1st then maybe pick swaps with Port before we even start negotiating. If he's leaving trade won't get done today.

I if Hogan goes as a RFA in a few years and we are on par with this year, then we get about pick 16-20 as compo, but an additional years service.  If we trade him out this year, we can do better than that (1 or more top 10 picks?).  I suggest we were into May as a free agent option, but GCS see the benefit in the trade 1 year early.  GCS could get better compo if they see themselves being a basket case again next year.

it means clubs have to demand the contracts are longer term from this point, or decide if 12 months service is worth the drop in value at the trade table.  Players have to make this call, then the clubs can act in their best interests.

over to you, Jesse.  Either way, sign or go, next move is yours.  The sooner the better, BTW.

Hogan has been given a whole territory of untold sky in which to make up his mind or to have that expressed by his manager. The MFC has been very fair - and all parties are aware of the deals to be done, the synergies to be made and the acquisitions/losses to still hang in the balance or end in resolution - for both Freo, GCS and the MFC; this apparent grandstanding is beginning to sour and the compromise rests assuredly on shoulders still awaiting perceived glory, not from onfield performances in a very well coached team but from the fluctuation of speculations on self-values and alleged worth. It is coming at the expense of other committed players and officials, his 'mates', and loyal spectators and supporters from all involved teams.  Get on with it, Jesse - tolerance is not for testing.

Yikes, so many pages? Not sure what I've missed but reading the last few, it doesn't seem much.

I think it's pretty simple. We need to trade Hogan. It's about getting the best deal for the club so that we don't get shafted as we always do when guys go out of contract, like Jeff Farmer.

Problem is Freo isn't going to offer too much in return. We have to use our head here and know that if Jesse doesn't extend his contract, we're going to get very little this time next year.

Best outcome is to trade now. I know it's hard to accept that given how much we love Jesse.

He is = he's - he's going to Fremantle   (a contraction)

His is possessive - His head is too big   (possessive adjective)

Seems to me this trade period is going to be a fizzer. Too many clubs have to do the first deal for the rest of the clubs dominoes to fall. Too much water to go under the bridge. Neale, Lobb, May, Hogan, Wingard etc need one to drop before the rest take shape. First day of trade period and everyone sounds like they're still deciding.

I am more than happy if he stays. It was only the eagles game that caught us out as such.

Get oscar on the whey powder and beef up a bit.

We need to move up in the draft but need to be cautious how we do it. Get JH to sign till 2021 and all is good.

That's probably the worst outcome unfortunately. That would take him into Free Agent status, we would get a singular draft pick if he was to leave at that stage. The best outcome now is a long term contract signed for 5 years or a trade.

JH does not become a RFA until the end of the 2020 season. We can still trade next year if he does not re-sign.

the elephant in this ever decreasing room is of course Weideman.

Can you play all three plus perhaps Preuss. Of course you can and it may work but what if it doesn't.

In a way the decision is easy... at one early pick the answer is no and at two the answer is yes.

Of course in the real world the hard decisions come with say one early pick and a late first or a first from next year etc etc.

Meanwhile like watching paint dry we await the progress of this riveting saga. The fact that we had this will he won't he once before with Hogan tends to distract somewhat from the drama.

The poster discussed Jesse signing on again until 2021. Yes we can trade him next year as well. If we were to extend his contract to 2021 that would be a bad outcome IMO.

If it has taken this long for any sort of announcement from the club, Hogan or his management, it tells me that neither player, nor club is chomping at the bit for this trade to happen.  They might be 'OK' with it, but there certainly isn't any urgency.

- Encourage May to stay at GCS - we have nothing to trade and we will take him next year as a FA.  If he can't wait, he can't wait.

- Hogan to honour his contract - another year at the MFC where he gets to experience some success and watch on as Freo, without Neale, crash and burn.

- Trial Jesse at CHB over the preseason and into the start of the regular season.  He will add some defensive skills and versatility to his game and may provide us with a powerful, big bodied, contested marker on the back half.  Weideman and McDonald can develop a partnership and prepare for the possibility of Hogan leaving.

- If, after some success and another year away from home, he still wants to return, this may open up WCE as a genuine competitor for his signature.  If not, then Freo will still have a very decent pick to offer as their list is in big, big trouble.

6 - 6 - 6 coming in next year = tall forward lines super valuable, as there will be no spare defender to counter quick centre clearances (our midfield will get plenty). Plus Hogan, and TMac are aerobic beasts, we would defs make it work. Preuss is the one who would miss out on games.

I say if we have a sniff at keeping him we wrap our arms around him, even if its just for another year, he can get us a flag.

Though by then Jesse would have been a decent part of likely multiple cracks at a flag and he may decide to stick around.

Yes everything is possible and that may be the case, personally I wouldn't take the risk. A bird in the hand and all that.

Hogan a likely multiple coleman medallist, no chance he goes back

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
