Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Fox Footy seem to think it's pick 4 only, and old mate Tom Morris thinks we can't have both Jesse and Steven May due to the salary cap. How do these people get jobs?

All these journos look like idiotic econ kids to me.

[censored] oath Jesse needs to say something.

It's possible he doesn't as yet know what Freo are offering. They'll be wanting to sell him the idea, get him to Perth, viewing the new facilities etc, coffees in Freo on a spring sunny day, sell sell sell  and then offering an amount too good to refuse rather than just an offer via his agent. The thing is, I believe he is open to a trade, but I suspect for him to leave, the offer will have to be a very good one. I don't believe he wants to go home that badly he'll accept similar money to what he's on now and if Freo offer him 1mil or more per year then his value to Freo is set and they will need to trade accordingly.

I get it, ET.  However, if what we get generates enough improvement to give us a flag, then I really don’t mind.  However, we won’t know for 12 months.  We all have an expectation and want the club to match or better this.  Hopefully the signalling of ‘most valuable ever’ gives us an idea of what the club thinks...

I would also be disappointed. However, our moves in the off-season of late have been very pragmatic. As another poster stated our FD tends to look at the trade period wholistically (I.e. net gain/loss) rather than ‘winning’ individual deals

Watching the trade low down. It’s amazing how these muppets think pick 4 alone will get the deal done for Hogan, and that goes to Gold Coast to May. So effectively May for Hogan. Even trade radio are saying this also.

Wtf is wrong with the media?  How can these muppets possibly fathom that’s Hogan market value? Even Fremantle supporters are in agreeance with us realistically Hogan will cost two first rounders.

One fella said it earlier on forum, theyre subconsciously trying to shape the narrative and keep a smaller vic club and prelim team from getting two 1st round picks and becoming a force.

I think more simply they are looking to create content by baiting and throwing up red herrings. They have 12 hours less ads to fill & the frigging trade period doesn’t start for a week. Their station is the equivalent of a 140+ page internet thread.

Was just thinking, if we could get 4/5 from Freo for Jesse and could get GC to accept our first pick in 2019 plus a player or another pick thrown in, we could have 2 early picks to use in this draft,

GC has a swag of early picks in this draft I think it is 7 in top 40 and therefore may be happy to spread it a bit and take another first rounder next year to avoid a glut of 18 year olds this year being added to the list.

If we could swing that sort of deal and if say GC took the King twins, who would solve FF and FB soon, as replacements for Lynch and May, options would open. The Kings are 202 cms and strong so could possibly play next year. They have said they are happier to go interstate if picked together.

If that happened, we would have a Jesse replacement in Lukosius and could take Rozee his mate, or Rankine also from SA.

It is just another scenario that could develop. If GC took the SA boys we would have the Kings and would only need to draft or trade for mids, this year and next.

We could even keep 5 and trade 4 to Port for 9 and 10 or do a deal with the Crows for a player and their first pick. We could have 3 picks in the top 10 or 2 in the top 12 and a player.  The options really open up.

Just a thought.

Very ambitious thinking. I reckon to get 4 and 5 from Freo we'd have to give up something pretty solid. I can't remember a player ever being traded for 2 blue chip pieces like that. Even the Judd deal had Josh Kennedy devalued from a true blue chipper to more of a gamble on his upside. Lever's deal last year relied on both of our first rounders not being the real top line picks. Beams was pick 5 and 25. Burgoyne, Treloar had the Pies planning on improvement and getting a 2nd rounder back I just can't remember a deal of two super high picks. 1 player = 1 blue chip piece.

Similarly Gold Coast have May contracted for another year and the chance at some juicy AFL free agency compensation. We have to get inside pick 10 I think, even if we get more than just May for it.

From all reports the King's have flat out told GC to stay away. Maybe they draft both of them and hope that works. I'm not so sure. And if we draft them there's a good chance they both need 3 years and 30 AFL games of finding their feet footy which doesn't help us.

I actually think the best case scenario is 5 and 10 for Hogan. 1 of those picks goes to May. 1 goes to the draft if no one wants it.

The 2019 first rounder could be moved forward in to this years draft and maybe split in to a few pieces. The Eagles traded their future first with the Suns for a raft of 2nd round picks. I'm not sure another club would be that stupid but it would be a way to really beef up the depth of our list and solve some needs. I get the appeal of landing a Josh Kelly but drafting one high quality kid early and then some mid round picks for another Spargo and Fritsch could really set the list up. Then we turn to free agency. We'd all like Josh Kelly but I'd settle for taking a heap of talent in this years draft to make sure we're stocked in the years to come and then landing Chad Wingard as a free agent next year.

I do feel we're being softened up to accept unders for Jesse... If we don't get 2 x First Rounders, I'll be dissappointed

But, we're going to have plenty of late 2nd / 3rd ish round picks you'd think in return for Kent, Tyson amd AvB (if he goes). Perhaps we get pick 4 + Brayshaw, for Hogan and pick XX (e.g. Kent return)

Then, pick 4 to GCS get us May plus a discount on KK. So 4 plus pick YY (e.g. late 3rd round) for May and KK

Non of them had kicked 40 goals plus in the 3 full seasons they had played tho.

Or ranked as the #1 KPF for his age all time he is just entering his peak. He plays in the hardest position on the ground FFS.

Well yeah thats the modus operandi, but i do think there is an underlying bias towards wanting big fan base vic clubs v interstate clubs contending every year. For a team thats already a contender (without the player theyre trading) to get two top 10 picks, well it might be unpalletable for media commentators who are fans of a few of these clubs. As the poster said above, i just get the feeling they're trying to shape the narrative and soften us up for the "briLliaNt TraDe IdEa" theyve (McCLure) come up with

Relax folks. Here’s how it will go down.

1. Dees will ask for picks 4 & 5. Straight up.

2. Freo will pizz and moan, say the deal is off and then eventually offer us the 9 & 10 that they receive from Port for pick 4. This process may take some time. We just need to sit tight.

3. We will ask for picks 5 & 9 and give Freo a deadline of say 24 hours before trade week closes or Hogan remains in red and blue.

4. Freo will pizz and moan and journos like Slobbo and McClure will continue to proclaim how unrealistic we are, only for the Dockers to relent and shell out picks 5 & 10 just as Mahoney gets out his mobile to call Hoges’ manager to tell him “deal’s off”.

Don’t be fooled what any hack journo is reporting - the driving force in this negotiation is the Dockers’ desperation to get this player they’ve been chasing for half a decade, on its books. Dees just need to be firm, patient and ready to get up from the table if need be.

They will cave at 5 & 10. Mark it down.

Look Port or Adelaide to package up picks to move up the draft to try to get the gun SA talent.

For example Brisbane to take 9/10 and 27/28 from Port for Pick 5.

In an ideal world Pick 10 then goes to Freo for Neale.

Freo then have 5 and 10.  We take both for Hogan. 10 goes to GC for May we keep 5.

Hogan cost us 3 and 13.  He is arguably the best key forward under 23 years old.  This is what we should be aiming for.

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
