Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It was interesring to hear one radio commentator in the very one sided WAFL Grand Final comment on the number of players who lost their footing today and in RECENT GAMES at the ground. Is the surface more slippery than others? Didn't seem to be a problem for the Weagles though. Maybe they had boots better equipped for the ground. The lost footing and falling certainly cost us plenty yesterday. Must have happened three or more times which is not normal for our boys. Thoughts?

I was at Optus Stadium today watching the Falcons getting belted.

They did go to ground fairly regularly.

This ground hates Red and Blue.

The Optus Oval staff over watered the grass. The Weagles knew and wore longer studs. We wore what we had for training and kept slipping. It is blatant cheating by The Eagles supporting staff but probably not actionable. The AFL should investigate though.

I was at the game and I thought this too.  But the players did a warm up long enough to have got a feel for the surface.

Warm-up isn't at full speed under pressure though.

This also happened to Collingwood in their final at Optus. It's not just a coincidence.

Someone ought to have been paying attention.

Agree. Surely in the warmup or at some stage the players or runner or whoever tests  the surface at pace and turning etc. If not we are not as professional as we should be.

I thought they stopped playing games at Optus Oval  (Princess Park) back in 2005???

Big believer in not promoting the brand name on these ovals.

Does anyone know if the new Perth stadium has a common name a la Kardinia Park etc

Would be interested to hear comments about the raised ground viewing area and the fence. The high fence is certainly a worrying look on TV.

Thanks

May just be Burswood Oval.

Have to say that while it's an aesthetically good looking ground, it's pumped up way too much. Poorly signed & maned aisles and limited room around the concourse. Give me the MCG anyday.

A friend was over there on Saturday and says they call it 'The Craypot' locally. His main take-out was that it was incredibly loud and reckons it would have been pretty intimidating to play in. Sounds like it will become a fortress for the Weagles in the coming years.

It was too damn hot....worst day at the footy ever I was in the blazing sun the entire match thought I was going to roast. Night footy there in future only please, 1:20PM in Perth Springtime, madness

the dreaded tv driven time slots and in this instance the madness of having to get a flight back to Melbourne.

At the world cup this year the TV slots worked in reverse and the games were often late. Had two games that started at 9:30pm. Boy did that give the Colombians time to charge up before heading for the stadium.

I though [censored] was pretty good all around. Agree on poor signing though. using asile no bay is misleading as each 'bay' is obviously borded by different aisles.

My mate and i paid top dollar for our seast ($190 plus) and were right at the very back of level i. Couldn't believe it but seats were under an overhang, which i knew they would be as i had looked at the virtual ground thingo.

But i assumed there would be no restriction on viewing. Was very disappointed there was pill box effect and you would lose track of the ball when kicked high. They also had some square things  hanging off the edge of the overhang which blocked the view.

Most bizarre of all was that you could not see the score board. At all! i mean this is brand new 1 billion dollar stadium.

The saving grace was that we were in the shade. It was hot and the sun sharp and the demons fans in front om looked as if they were cooking. Given how bad the game was i at least pleased i didn't roast.

Another strange thing was entry. We just filed in with hundreds of other through an open gate and someone had hand scanner. Had a bag but there was only one guys searching and people were  just flowing past him, as i did. Crazy

Welcome to the Western Australian way of doing things.

Seat locations

Our tickets, were for seats on Level 3, Section 353, which was really Level 2, Section 354. Attendant looked askance at us when we mentioned this made no sense, surprised they didn't go with the old "From Victoria are you"  chestnut,  truly bizarre.

Restricted viewing

We got talking to some Eagles supporters pre-match. The front row, Level 3 seats sold as "MFC Premium"  are actually cut price Eagles members seats in the regular season as they have the view restricted by glass panels.

As you state, billions spent on design and construction of a stadium where front row seats have restricted views, and your seat number doesn't actually match where your seat is!!

Seems they ticketing team "saw us coming" and gypped MFC with the dud seats in the sun with restricted viewing

ah.. the old discretionary re classification trick

At the world cup they reclassified most of the stadiums to category 1 for the round of 16 onwards

Nosebleed for US$250 round of 16.

Worth complaining about Optus* though if only to get some transparency in the ticketing arrangements :)

Sorry should have said Craypot Stadium

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
