 Frosty has some areas of his game that need refining. Of course we all know that. But what he brings in energy, strength, courage, speed and 1% ers puts him in my best 22 every day of the week.

Totally agree, I like Oscar and think he is developing nicely but after watching both of their output in the last 6-7 weeks I’d take Frost. I think he offers more because of his versatility.

I sat with Sam a couple of years ago and he contrasted our team with GWS. 

He loves the Dees and works harder than most to develop himself and earn a spot. Has never taken a short step in his career and gives 100% to the team.

He is a beauty to have in the backline.

Have another look at the Geelong final, if you haven't watched it 20 times already, like me.

I think May and lever would prefer OMac in the team as he'll stay back last line as instructed while Frost still has an attacking mindset, not a bad thing but May and lever have been brought in for those roles and are much better at it. Frost might be better against teams that play a very small forward line, but i think OMac will be first choice full back

Why do people have this KK automatically in the side. As it stands now I would have Frost in ahead of him now. I agree with a couple of others above my post. Would have Frost in the side.

I love how Frost appears to have not only become a better defender already over the preseason but for some has also developed the tools to play wing as well as forward swingman.

Unless Lever gets up for round 1 Frost will get his chance but O-Mac will clearly be the stay at home back man to complement the attack and intercept of May and Lever.

I'd say pure crumbing forward might be the greatest weakness but we did bring in a couple of late pick options there. Not sure how they'll break up the new players but I'd expect they spread them to different line groups, maybe even move the versatile guys around. Keen to see what they do with the wing but there's plenty of variety now.

Whilst Casey's form has been good I have not enjoyed watching them as much as most of the players I have had good view of and in most cases had plateaud. Its exciting to me that there will be a lot of young kids to watch develop this year to complement the quality mature depth across ours and Casey's list.

First choice to play on a Josh Kennedy or similar would be May. First choice playing on a Franklin or similar would be Frost. To me Lever and Frost bring something different where as May and Oscar are similar. Unless Oscar was so far ahead of Frost talent wise I’m not sure why we would play him.  A back six of

Kolodjashnij isn't competing with Frost.

Having him in or out of the side makes no difference to Frost's selection, or otherwise.

May and Oscar play nothing alike. May and Frost is a much closer comparison in attributes, may though has an abounds of footy nous to go with his strength and speed.

Disagree. We need a stay at home defender/primary stopper that is defence first not intercept/counter attack first. This is Oscar. He was quality for most of the year. Will have further improved his strength and endurance and will have the further support of May and Lever. If he maintains even his form of last year he will play all season.

I wonder If May will play FB... and Lever beside him?

That would leave Hibbo, maybe Frost, and Salem Lewis Nietschke or Fritsch as the halfbacks.

May has stated that his best games came when Rory Thompson was at full back as a last line stopper, that's why I think we'll go with OMac instead of Frost as he'll do that role. That'll allow both May and lever to do what they do best. Should make hibbo even more dangerous as well as he'll be able to attack full time

I thought the whole idea behind bringing May in was to play on the Josh Kennedy types. But if Kennedy lines up in the goal square then Oscar would play on him? That to me makes no sense.

The whole idea of bringing in May was to strengthen our whole defence. I very much doubt May was brought in just as a 'gorilla tamer' as people like to say, his best games for gold coast were when he was able to go for the ball as well. There's no way the coaches would ever want a defender left 1 out like suggested with OMac and Kennedy, they'd want a body on him and someone else spoiling or taking an intercept mark, things May, lever and Hibberd are really good at

That's why I show Lever beside May, on the last line.

May as the stopper... who can 'run off' at the appropriate times, with his judgement.  Lever beside him as the intercept who can float across the backline as intercept, bet getting back before the ball.

 

This allows us an even more attacking half-backline, with our skilled running halfbacks.

I suspect CHB will be Frost or OMc.

I don't really agree with the traditional CHB or FB labels as the game is played differently now, even with the 6-6-6 starting spots, once in play teams will move to where the ball is. I think Frost is better higher up the ground while OMac is better staying back deep, so it might depend on who we play and the game plan. I think only May, lever, Jetta, hibbo and 2 rotating half backs, out of Lewis, Salem, KK, hunt, Jones, are in the backline then it might be needs based. My initial preference is OMac to stay deeper and may to play higher up but could see both playing a lot of games next season

there are many other variations with Petracca & ANB able to go into midfield or Brayshaw to go outside mid as required. 

Salem can go into the midfield.

Goody will be lining up our best and most versatile Team against the two Grand Finalists, Collingwood and West Coast best Teams.

Whether or not the Pies had their best team on the ground on the last day is conjecture, but we definitely know West Coast didn't.......

The other thing that i'm thinking about is , both Lever and/or May might not, under a new/revised game plan be even be playing on the back line..........

I agree with you with that pairing,,, mainly because many don't feel secure when Frost is defending one on one deep, close to goal, and also same in reverse Re Oscar one on one, playing high... we don't hold confidence in them out of those positions.

 

However May and Lever both playing in the same defence, is a different kettle. Lever can play deep or high

doing the same role. (intercept)

It's not a toss up Oscar has never been dropped, Frost has played plenty of VFL football. The footy department has faith in Oscar it doesn't have faith in Frost.

May is in and unfortunately for Frost he makes way.
