Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

At my encouragement from the other side of the world, My younger brother attended the final vs hawthorn - his first football match since the 2000 GF - he expressed his surprise at how many Asians and Indians were wearing demon scarves

Did he ask how the players manage to control the funny shaped ball so well? And which one's Buddy Frankfurt?

How the lexicon of football evolves. In 1964 we would scream "C'arn the demons" or shortened to "C'arn the dees" or even "C'arn Melbourne". C'arn was the contraction of the expression "come on" and everyone "barracked" for a team.

These days people "go" for a team as in "I go for Melbourne". Go dees is the contraction of that. In the end, it doesn't matter so long as we can share the delight in our team's performance with anyone in red and blue.

Go dees. C'arn the demons. And to stick it up the nitwit commentators, let's show  'em our class with a resounding "come on Melbourne".

Go dees.

Carna Dees!

Ahhh....so you're the listener they still get.

Cover is full of '...I want to be a comedic popularist...' and has been for decades; well done, Cover, it has been in its own right somewhat of a success for you but the jokes, jibes and jests have become weary and seldom are as creative as they might have been in the past. Out of whack, time and tolerance is the new uninspired Cover diatribe so it's hopefully goodnight from me and goodnight for him; well, let's hope, anyway.

Is there a stereotype ?

I think there is but it's not the one purported. I think a lot of folk like to get stuck into us because it's what lesser intelligent types do. Can't come up with robust banter....then just sneer and lampoon.

But we're onto to you lot ( all other team's excuse at unbiased reason ). Where, here, despite our habit of throwing cheesy ? barbs at each other from time to time , still able to carry on a decent discussion whilst embracing ( in the main ) a broad palette of views.

There's a very good reason that Demonland is most likely the best Fan-forum of this league. Other than the wonderful and diligent work to provide it ( thanks ) I simply believe we are the most capable of a learned and balanced review of ours and others.

Players who play at the highest level are deemed elite. I suggest Dlanders and by association all Melbourne supporters must also be adjudged.

I don't believe we are elitist.. just elite and it's because many of other persuasions are unable to discern the difference they strike out and proffer insult.

Just confirms to me we are better.

It's not the beer we drink, the wine we quaff nor the car our chauffeur parks that matters.

It's that we are MELBOURNE and only we CAN be.

Go Dees......ignore the riff raff, as really they know no better ;)

This.

All I can say is that I'm relieved The Country Party changed their name to The Nationals.

Great depth, great depth, and artfully expressed, and in that regard, 'The Nationals' was perhaps the nomenclature selection that saved many a face.

Frid'y night on the balcony last  quarter

Young blokes in suits,bit tense

Moi,fairly confident actually

And.. in the second row, aisle seat a MFC supporter who looked like a homeless dude on ice, wearing MFC Guernsey  (over shirt with collar).....

every Hawk goal he wailed, jumped into the aisle and swayed holding his head then thrashing with his arms.

every Hawk free kick the same

Several of us were concerned he would fall over the balcony rail(seriously).

Then the rally came...

Every Dee goal or mark he was  in the aisle fist pumping sreaming

If it was a goal he  threw himself across the aisle and hugged  his brother ,two seats in.

Brother  clearly knew him enough not to actually sit next to him

The sealer is kicked.......blokes in suits on their feet in group hugs 3 or 4 deep.( really)

Guy goes seriously Ian Drury,,brother tries to calm him down for his own safety

and next to me the lone Hawk supporter points and says" behold, the new Demon suporter prototype".........gets up and leaves.

Well played number 9

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
