Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Another little tidbit

JKHs session was excellent, really sharp and running hard and fast

My view is that JKH will be the spare small, and J Smith the spare tall

Can't see Vince or Hunt being considered seriously and can't see the justification for another change

Would the travelling emergencies head for the airport as soon as the game starts so they can play for Casey on Sunday?

Mahoney said the emergencies would come back with the team, arrive back before midnight and they will play Sunday.   https://www.sen.com.au/news/2018/09/17/gawn-missing-training-no-concern-says-demons-footy-boss/

As an aside, he also talks about the noise at 'Boo Stadium'.  The club has strategies in place (as per other hostile games eg Adelaide, WCE) to help players deal with the 'silence' and generate their own enthusiasm.

One thing I’ve been thinking about is the potential for the club to start using signals from the bench to players or from player to player.

Baseball use signals, College Football use signals and card schemes, seems like a no brainer for reduction in runners but something to think about for stadiums like Burswood (and I’m sure new stadiums will look to see how they can have a similar noise).

Possibly not for this weekend but should well and truely be in the future thinking to get an advantage.

I fully expect to be the most hoarse I have ever been on Saturday night.

A handful of Demons going absolutely apeshit will be a wonderful thing.

Mahoney alluded to signals in the interview.  Said something like the players can't hear each other and will be waving hands etc.  For obvious reasons, he didn't elaborate on the 'etc'.

Will be interesting to watch how this plays out on the field.  Not sure TV cameras will pick them up so we may need to rely on our trusty DL's to report back on what they see.

What is obvious from Mahoney's interview is the club is leaving no stone unturned.  We really learnt a lot from hostile environments like Geelong, Adelaide, WCE late in the season.

What is your attitude toward sneaking a megaphone in? Or vuvuzela? I wonder if my mate is working on OB. I'll see if he can patch you in to the broadcast so you can start screaming BOOOOO at Weagles moves.

From AFL Website:

  • After missing Monday's session to monitor his training loads, Gawn joined teammates out on Gosch's Paddock for the club's main session.
  • Both Neville Jetta and Alex Neal-Bullen, who also missed Monday's session, trained fully and look certain to face the Eagles in Saturday's preliminary final in Perth.
  • During the warm-up component of training, Gawn took the main ruck taps and worked with midfielders Angus Brayshaw, Jack Viney, Clayton Oliver and Bernie Vince, who is pushing for a recall.
  • Although the Demons are not expected to change a winning line-up, Vince and defender Joel Smith are considered to be possible inclusions.
  • Oscar McDonald got some work done on his lower back and youngster Charlie Spargo got his finger assessed and taped, but both returned to training without further concern.
  • McDonald rejoined training and seemingly moved well, but it was then decided by the club's fitness he should leave the session to avoid any further discomfort.  It seemed a precaution as much as anything, but one to keep an eye on later in the week.

Up to 1000 fans lined the boundary to watch the players train, with merchandise tents, face painting booths, food trucks and a sausage sizzle all taking place for the supporters attending.

Courageous reporting (not). Means any number upwards of zero.

If you watch Harmes, he always looks like he is sore when he walks, I think it's just his gait.

At the recent world cup in Russia the Colombians and to a slightly lesser extent the Iranians resurrected the vuvuzela together with the hand pumped air horn. It was not pleasant as a spectator I can assure you.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
