Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm stuck in central Queensland, so I'm living the Dees succcess through others right now.

So glad you got to go with the old fella. Wish I had a ticket to offer for next week.

btw, @ding and I are twin brothers. He is quite the ranting arzhole normally, and hates EVERYTHING (except cats), so to get help from him is some sort of breakthrough.

Sounds like he has finally figured the correct dose for his meds..

Ahh wow thats amazing! Again thankyou guys so much it really made it a great day having us all with him, at the end of the game his eyes went watery when he was saying thanks for everyone coming but if you asked him it was dust. And his eyes still wouldn't be like that, there was probably dust in our eyes and it made it look like that.

If there's something i can do for you two or something i can get you to say thankyou it still wouldnt be enough. I tell you what, next year ill guarentee a premiership (confidence) attendance and let you two fight it out for the honor. But i cant reward violence so ill think of something else...

Thank your brother for me if he misses this.

I think you'll find that all AFL clubs are restricted in how many 'priority one' memberships they can sell ie Legends, Redlegs etc in the case of the MFC.

If they had no restriction then there would be no tickets available for the 'ordinary' member.

I know there's a long waiting list at all the big clubs for 'premium' membership, and I suspect a waiting list at our club as well. I let mine lapse in 2000 but promptly re-joined in 2001.

PS I've been a MFC member for 56 years - longer than most DL'ers I suspect.

I'm pretty sure Trident, Redlegs etc were all available for purchase this year, I remember almost selecting one of them but thought it wasn't worth the money... serves me right!

Isnt it nice to be talking about stuff like this in September?

Great offer, but not required. Hearing about Dad celebrating with family is enough for me.

Hope Dad can celebrate a flag next week

Hey, I've also got a barcode for you, from a spare membership I bought for a family member, but it's only a tier 3. Not sure if that will be much good to you.

Yes one ticket per barcode per membership

$5 admin fee so probably $200,000 in Demons fans money going to afl/ticket agency on a prayer right now

I am praying hard

$200k at least per club (x four) to use a computer program that is used each year ... that is seriously expensive software.

Bit like the $7 fee to print your ticket or have it sent to your phone.

Oh the joys of transparency...

So the computers run on fresh air

Try email.  MFC Membership team is doing a great job and working late.  I received an email at 8.00pm last night.  They will respond.

I asked a similar question of Priority 1 and 2.  This was the response from the club last night:

"If you register with someone who is a priority two you will drop to priority two with them. There is no way around that unfortunately".

So my reading is: to sit together registration is to be with the lowest priority group.  Not sure but I would imagine the system is smart enough to know that if a Priority 3 is being registered with a Priority 2 it will reject both or drop both down to Priority 3.

Not much the club can do about it as the AFL make the rules.

We have been caught by surprise a little and I will be paying more attention to GF priority groups when I renew memberships for next year.

I spoke with an extremely helpful team member this morning...

If I register my 9yr old son (p2) separatly from myself and 5 yr old daughter (P3) then I run the risk of him getting a "concession" ticket and us missing out - If I attempt to use his concession ticket and get asked for proof my ticket will get taken and my membership cancelled.

I can opt to register all 3 of us but will be P3 only.

As it's only him and myself who would even go I'm going to register us all in our priority levels.  If he gets the P2 and we miss out then I will look to use that "concession" ticket as a "bargaining chip" to hopefully secure an adult ticket in return.

If he misses out and we get 2 from P3 then my daughter can go shopping with her Mum while us boys go to the GF ?

If we all miss out then it's Fed square for all of us...

If the Dees miss out then it's already been one helluva ride! ?

ah... don't you think ticketek charges the AFL for the service as well

$1Million plus dollars per year to run a program... that is almost NASA pen charges

Happy to pay cost recovery charges plus say 20%... if they want to open up the books

Does anyone have any information on how many of our ~45k members fall into each category? i.e. priority 1, 2 or 3
Obviously there would be a limit as to how many priority 1 memberships and GF guarantees are issued, but does anyone have intel on the numbers? TIA

Don’t know category 2 or 3, but there are about 10,000 category 1 members.

Bloody hell am I glad we paid the extra money for priority 1 membership. Also gives me a sense of security that I’ll always be able to hold on to this type of membership, as I imagine they’ll become more and more popular in years to come and as numbers are capped, will be hard to come by.

and given ticketek probably get a % of gf ticket value they are getting a bonanza anyway looking a gf ticket prices

but as you say, open your books and then we will know, if not lets threaten a royal commission - lol

noticed dick smith on telly tonight having a go at multinational ita's (internet travel agencies) and how they are gouging the hotel industry now upping their charges to 35% of booking value.......and then there is uber eats....not to mention tax avoidance

plus 3 cups of coffee for the privilege of printing your own ticket on your own printer, old chap. yes, all small change but then multiply that small change by a very large number it's  big gravy

and i'd call a consumer choice of 1 a monopoly

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
