Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Did you report them to abuse phone number or to security? If a few people heard it and were prepared to support your complaint, they are outski. Pricks like that don't deserve to be there.

Yes security were notified and after a long deliberation one guy was escorted out but the others remained inside and were monitored for the rest of the match. Fair to say they got a decent send off by the Melbourne faithful when they left after Melksham's sealer. Good riddance

Agree. The volume was far too loud (reminiscent of the Meatloaf fiasco) and I was disappointed they didn’t fire one of their free Hawks T shirts in my direction because I was feeling lucky.

Hah and they ran out of fireworks mid last quarter. Just like their team. Only just getting my voice back.

Does anyone have a link or know what the story is behind the article in the Herald-Sun "Demons Respond To Brutal Hawks Sledge"? Paywall article and just curious to know what was said.

Melbourne didn’t break even when Hawthorn charged and got unsociable in semi-final

Sam Edmund, Herald Sun

SAFE to say, the old Melbourne would have cracked.

A huge lead shrinking by the minute in a huge final in front of a huge crowd - all against a rival boasting a September pedigree unmatched over the past decade.

Yet there’s a belief within this Demons side that burns bright.

MATCH REPORT: CYCLONE MELBOURNE COMING TO PERTH

PLAYER RATINGS: EVERY HAWK, DEMON RATED

ROBBO: DEES PLAY DOG-UGLY FOOTY

Not even when the Hawthorn players suddenly got “lippy” in the last quarter did the Demons wobble.

When Jarryd Roughead nailed a set shot to cut Melbourne’s 32-point three quarter-time margin to 12 points at the 11-minute mark of the fourth term, another Hawk couldn’t help but stir the pot.

“You’ve blown it. You blokes are choking, you blokes are choking,” he yelled to any Demon who would listen.

But, like the Western Bulldogs of 2016 and Richmond of 2017, this isn’t the same old Demons.

Unfortunately my night was marred by racist remarks directed at Salem and Jetta by a group of Hawthorn fans in Q1. Left me feeling down for the remainder of the match, but it was a great win by the boys. Go Dees

Hawthorn supporters are unbearable when they are winning, the arrogance and smugness is truly disgusting. Then when the shoe is on the other foot, they perpetually b!tch and moan.

They love to dish it out, but cannot take it themselves. Pathetic weak rabble.

They flopped from the opening bounce for frees.  All game!  if they look at the flops, they will book half the hawks team.

It annoys me Mitchell does the wrong thing especially after the Selwood one & because Oliver hasn't braced himself then he's a stager. But when the Hawk  captain gets tackled and throws himself back 2 get a free kick & goal, then it's ok.Give me a break.

The fireworks were arrogant and embarrassing. They stopped them in the second half didn't they?

Either that or they only stocked 6 thinking they wouldn't score that many !

The trade included our 2018 first round pick. So as we now finish no lower than 4th, the final spot in the draft just went down one.

It’s a huge stretch to say that changes the value of thr trade, but that’s the logic behind the comment.

Paraphrasing one crows fan from big footy "it doesn't matter that Melbourne finished higher, we were so crap that we still get the same picks we expected (meaning approx picks 10 and 16)"

What a fantastic night mk 2! We did it! I know there isn’t something special about writing here moments after the win but these last two weeks I’ve just lost it!

We were not particularly great but the big takeaway for me is the we stood up in pivotal moments of the game. The two biggest was red time in the 3rd quarter, and when the Hawks kicked 3 on the trot in the last. The latter was a massive test as we had barely touched the ball in that period, but the ability to win that centre clearance and generate an opportunity through Mlikshakes was something we couldn’t do in the past and from then on we started winning contested ball again and wrestled the momentum back. Sometimes that means so much more in a final that playing the perfect 4 quarter game.

Jack Viney - BOG by a very long way. An absolute man possessed. All those training sessions and him getting flogged would have had him so sick of not playing and he has just unleashed in the last few weeks. A man that was made to play finals!

Michael Hibberd- In my opinion they were the two best. There were periods in the 2nd and 3rd where the ball spent A LOT of time in defence. Their delivery was pretty good as well and we were under siege. The number of times this guy saved our rear ends is probably not measured by stats and his ability to kick a brilliant weighted ball out of the defensive 50 under pressure to a target is so valuable.

The Backline - Along with Hibbo these guys had their work cut out for them. I wouldn’t have been surprised if they were really knackered by half time. Jetta was incredible keeping Breust quiet, an AA forward. Oscar and a Frosty continue to really impress. By the way Oscar hits nearly every short pass to a teammate so it would be refreshing if people would give the maligning treatment a rest now!

T-Mac - 10 marks, 3 contested in the 50, 4 deadly goals! When you need a clunker he provides it. So valuable.

Gawn and McEvoy had a good duel I thought early but Maxy took over!  An kick a goal now too! That mark in the last quarter was something to behold, is equal to our chances. Petracca played a very good game and moved well, thought he chopped his kicks a bit often to be considered in our top 3 but he was much less fumbly than last week. Oliver the clearance king, Brayshaw not as active but two clutch goals. We showed that we can beat quality opposition now with a few more gears to go to.

We have exceeded expectations, not getting ahead of ourselves but it is fair to say that we are a good football side and a finals football side. We belong!

I want to go to Perth badly. I am probably way too late to the flight booking party and the cash outlay will be ginormous. It could be a bridge too far unfortunately but hoping for some kind of miracle. For now though, just take it all in!

Lastly, to all of you. You are the best fans to be associated with. Seeing all the red and blue again and all the people at the Mountain View after on the rooftop bar singing the song was such a privilege. I love you all ❤️

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
