Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Bear with a sore head this morning - but who cares.

My god that was electric last night. The roar when Gussy took that mark and kicked it... thought the second tier was gonna come down.

Such a great team effort. Ive never seen so many elated people.

Did we get the rub of the green with the umpiring?

I thought it was pretty even.

The early HTB against Nev - goal - and the “below the knees” against decapitated Gus - goal - were disgraceful and at critical moments.

All credit to our guys for not letting it get to them.

Some chat about Oliver being "looked at" for flopping. I was there but didn't see it. Any thoughts?

Utter BS.

Oliver did not dive. Mitchell came at good pace and kept pushing all the wat through. There was nowhere else for Olivers body to go but down. If Michell had stopped at point of contact then fair enough but he didnt. Yet everywhere I look I see headlines about  it.

Ironically 5 mins into the first Oliver arrived late and a hawkjs pplkayer dived to milk a 50mp.

No m ention of that.

I guess we really have arrived.

Another incredible night to be a part of.

We weren't at our absolute best last night but in some respects, to have won they way we did despite not being at our best is a positive in itself.

The second quarter was anti-Melbourne. They had 17 inside 50s for 0.6, we had 7 inside 50s for 3.1. That quarter could have changed the game but to our credit, our defence stood up and we didn't drop our heads despite the game being played in the wrong half of the ground. We kept working hard and we took our chances when we got them. That quarter was huge IMO.

And our ability to steady when they drew to 12 points was enormous and speaks of a maturity that our side, as young and inexperienced as it is, has already built.

There were some individual standouts but it was again largely an even 22-man contribution. Viney, Gawn, Hibberd, Jetta and TMac all played strongly, but Petracca lifted on his past few weeks, Melksham was always dangerous, Weidman's confidence is there even if he didn't influence the game like last week, Brayshaw battled through his tag, Spargo's score involvements are hugely important, OMac and Frost are getting better (save for that howler of a mistake that led to the Puopolo goal).

Our form is peaking at the right time, we're luckily now through two finals without any injuries, and we know we can beat West Coast in Perth. It's surreal to think that we're in a preliminary final, but we are, and I can't wait to see how we go.

Was there last night and couldn't believe the support for the boys. Hawthorn have won 4 premierships in 10 years 80k members and I reckon the crowd was 70% Melbourne supporters. Loved it! So much for the Hawthorn 'fairthful'

Agreed.

Hawthorn's supporters are the weakest in the comp IMO. They might have 80,000 members but half of them don't like football and most of them don't go to games. They signed up on the back of the threepeat.

What we're seeing now is that our 45,000 members are as passionate and devoted as the supporters of clubs like Richmond and West Coast.

how so?

The trade included our 2018 first round pick. So as we now finish no lower than 4th, the final spot in the draft just went down one.

It’s a huge stretch to say that changes the value of thr trade, but that’s the logic behind the comment.

I didn’t think he had the leg for it either, but he hit it perfectly. Great kick.

And then add in the priority picks and it drops even further.

am surprised to hear people talking petraccas game up. He kicked a nice goal but he butchered about 4-5 very important and easy kicks inside 50 or in the forward half directly to a hawks player. the cost of doing that made him in the bottom 5 players for us in my opinion. Theyre so costly

Went to the game nursing a broken shoulder in a sling.. cheers to the enthusiastic supporter who bear hugged me after the siren..

Stood near the Hawthorn faithful- gee success has made them rotten arrogant A holes.. one bloke heckled me all game and was getting annoyed with my lack of response.. enjoyed seeing him leave at the 15 minute mark..

Dead set, Spargo has played 17 games of which we have won 14. Am I misinterpreting cause and effect ?? If he gets dropped, I'm going down there to have a word with Goodwin.

Thought the Hawks played into our hands with their cross ground chip passes. Gave us plenty of time to set up defensively.

Luck was certainly on our side in that third* quarter with their wayward kicking.

A great team effort but there is another gear to be found methinks.

Brayshaw getting  a hard tag shows he has well and truly arrived but it freed Viney to have a blinder.

PS... sorry meant second quarter

Wait just a minute. Didn't you know that Doedee is a much better player than Lever anyway ? ( According to the cognoscenti in Adelaide at least )

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
