Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

We need more mobility if anything at all against Hawthorn. Bernie cant run any more.

A few weeks off may have helped. Though it is his leadership to set up our structures, kicking in after a point, he likes hitting and hurting the opposition, reads the play well and the team love him.

I think his only chance would be if injuries.

Spargo showed no signs of being overawed.

He didn't fumble and used the ball well when he had it.

He's a smart footballer

I think his only problem last night was he didn't get a lot of the ball, and lacks penetration in his kicking. That's not being overawed that's just a kid developing.

That is the Big one rjay. His kicking simply is not AFL standard. Anything beyond 30 metres is doubtful. He barely makes the distance when kicking for goal from 40 metres.

They're a good side.

Under the radar,,,,  the Hawks this year.

Coming off a loss.

Backline disrupted with Stratton out.

Looks like it is a change of guard in the AFL. The teams who have dominated the past decade may have ended.

Jordans inside knowledge.

No superstars. Mitchell not a big influencer for the amount of ball he gets. The others are impact players.

Purely a hypothetical, but if Hogan & Lever were both fit, had match fitness & form, do they both come in? And for whom?

Hogan on a wing for Tyson, Lever down back. Push Fritsch forward and Spargo goes out.

I looked at their list and think they have 10 players who we should close down.

Sicily, Impey, Burgoyne, O'mera, Mitchell, Isac Smith, Gunston, Breust, Puopolo and Roughhead.

This is no easy one

hawks have class on every line

I don't underestimate them. I was looking at their weaknesses.

Hoping for a change of the guard.

They control the ball well.

Have good outside runners.

Good distribution of goal kickers.

Fast movers of the ball.

Good leg speed and endurance runners.

A tough team that can hurt their opposition.

Are well coached and can change their structures quickly and effectively.

Good front runners.

Can take a game apart and be ruthless.

I do wonder about anyone who thinks Garlett would be a good in in a final. If Kent happened to become available it might make things interesting though.

I honestly don’t trust Kent’s body. He is constantly injured. Imagine taking him into a game and he goes down again in the first few minutes. It’s too risky.

Wouldn't know who to drop.

Bernie Vince could be an in with his experience and possibly last games. He has a beautiful kick and we saw what experience can give with the example of Jordan.

Another being Joel Smith who brings a little x-factor with his marking and flexibility to play back and forward,  though the step up with final pressure may be too much to expect.

Jay Kennedy-Harris for his pressure acts, run and ability to be in contest.

We have some players who can cover if there are injuries.

Yes - nice dilemma to have.

How about letting them worry about us?

I would be concerned were we to get over negative.

Who’s home game is it?

As the higher end of season finisher I think it will be WhoreThorn's home game.

Still, no clash that I could envisage so hopefully we will be wearing our real jumpers.

what is his personal win loss record?  Seems to be a winner more often than not.

My impression is he gets to good spots when he hasn't the ball, to receive or to defend,,, and he has a go.  he positions to receive & relieve pressure from our ball carrier, and then spots targets.

I don't understand his stats, but from what my eyes see, he's a beauty.

Our forward half seems to function well when hes in.

Yep I think a good match-up of sides.

It'll be an interesting game.

Roughy could trouble our defenders. clever.

His only support are O'mera and Sheils, who I think are a bit soft and can easily be bundled away. Their inside players are all going to have nightmares. Don't forget Jetts and Hibbs when they are close to their 50. Or Traccs and Tom near our 50.

Puopolo ain't no big kick, either. Most small forwards aren't. Garlett could hardly crack 40 himself. Spargo gets the ball in good positions, his hands and vision are great, and for a kid with under 20 games, being the smallest on the ground, with no finals experience, he played like a 50 gamer with a flag under his belt.

I see no reason why he should be dumped. And I don't understand the logic behind calls to.

I was replying to a question from DV8.

Now i see.  Not being negative mono. I just want us to show due respect and not get ahead and become the front runners of old. Arrogance is only an intruder.  Don't fall for that trap.

respect allows us to be ready...  cockiness only leads to poor preparation & failure.

Also we do not want to get 'too high', too far from the big game.  business as usual, this week.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
