Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Love the message and photo montage of the team behind Bernie.

Definition of esprit de corps

the common spirit existing in the members of a group and inspiring enthusiasm, devotion, and strong regard for the honor of the group.

The culture this club is fostering is making me very proud to be an MFC member and rabid supporter.
Thanks to Bernie for playing such an integral part in the complete turnaround in the club.

Such an exciting time. ??

Correct, unless they find a part time role that suits him, a la Robbo, use his off field personality

Put a dozen comfy chairs in the MCG and you pay to sit, watch the game and drink beer with Bernie, could be a good money spinner. I’d be keen, reckon Bernie would be too.

Was trying to think who it was that Bernie reminded me of and then last night I turn on the MVP awards and there is Terry Daniher sitting with Gerard, Robbo and Derm.  TD was universally admired, a great bloke, loved by his team mates and could tell a great story.  He also was a total pro on the field and as Dermott said, the most competitive bloke he ever played against.  Sounds a lot like Bernie and he couldn't be in better company.

I'll always remember Bernie fondly. He chose to come to us when we were a struggling club and really bought in to doing his bit to improve us. He played some elite football in the red and blue too, winning our BnF and playing his role as a tagger and defender as his career progressed. He's a really laid back guy, and very likeable character who always seemed to bring positivity to the club. It's a shame he's retiring, but the time is right.

Best of luck to him and hopefully we see his kids run around in red and blue in a few decades time.

Oooo those three just get pipped by Ingerson and Hibbo, Nasher. Only just.

The smiling assassin. Absolute legend of a bloke. Will be missed, but his legacy lives on in a club that has now become tougher, more fierce and more respected due to his efforts on field.

The weekend at Bernie’s on Dangerfield has to have been one of the most satisfying games I’ve ever seen.

He really gave our players a social licence to back themselves in and make themselves accountable.

Best of luck Bernie!

If Max can get be in the media each week surely there’s a role for Bernie somewhere.

Also been part of the modern game and strategies unlike many in the media still going around.

Come on Fox there’s only so much Dermie I can take.

BUMP.  Just to acknowledge Bernie has played his last game in red and blue.

Its all been said on previous pages - thanks for coming to us when we crap.  And thanks for giving us your all and helping build the team we have today.  Roos' praise of the experience and strength you brought to our team is much deserved.

My most memorable Bernie moment - running best mate Danger into the Adelaide turf!

Thanks for your service Bernard!

Was an elite run-with player for a good while there, and will leave a massive hole in terms of culture, driving standards and a cool head when many around him are losing theres.

He's going to be on Front Bar this Friday - reckon it will be tuning in for that

Smiling assassin is a good name.

Always surprised me how tough he was. He looked a relaxed kind of guy on the field until out of the blue, he would go whack.

He was the beginning of the tough new edge the club has developed, the "don't mess with us" attitude.

I love our improvement but most of all I love our new breed of tough young footballers who will stand up and give back in spades to aggressive opponents.

I'm speculating here, but I wonder if Kent, Hogan, Tyson and AVB were some of the players that didn't appreciate being played out of position earlier in 2018.

I hope esprit de corps continues to strength the spirit within the group and with a couple leaving the club, I hope the boys solidify their commitment to each other like the Geelong and Hawthorn sides of the recent past.

Seriously doubt AVB was played out of position early in 2018.

Kent wasn't played out of position, he just wants more security and more time in the midfield.   Does he have the tank and the ability to play through there?  He wasn't getting a chance with us.  He might see himself as a mid, but he's always been a high half forward to me.

Tyson still played through the middle, but with the rise of Brayshaw and Harmes, found himself pushed out.  From all reports he is very happy at Melbourne and us supporters seem to be the ones pushing for a trade.

Hogan still had the chance to kick almost 50 goals this year, and his tank meant he could play up the ground.  I hardly think he would be disappointed with the role he was given.  Same goes for AVB.

I just think for two of them it's more security with longer deals apparently being offered, for one it's the go home factor and a big contract and the other one seems happy at the club regardless.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
