Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I agree with Viney and Hannan ins but watching again the replay I was very impressed with Jay Kennedy-Harris. He played very well. Better than i thought he had. Its a good position to be in.

It’s all going to come down to Tyson’s recovery

If his flesh wound from surgery has healed, I reckon he’ll play

Viney and Hannan for JKH / Tyson and Kent

I don’t particularly want to drop JKH, but it’s a choice btw him and Spargo...and I really like what the latter brings in terms of his ‘smarts’ with ball in hand; JKH has been very good the last few weeks however, which is not something that I was expecting to say as we head into finals!

Great call by Deespicable.

Solid team.

Fritsch does better on the HFflank in a cross-over role, rather than solely man-on-man.

Smith is a must for movement and height, intercepts and disposal.

Clarrie on the bench gives it some dignity and will throw their coach off the melting wax throne to which he has become accustomed.

Expect Vanders and Harmes to do something nasty to the cheating Dangermouse within a very fast succession of bodily contact drills, and as for poor Selwood, who could forget how Viney left him mentally shafted on the carpet with the perfect opposition player disposal mission earlier in the year?

Happy Fathers Day to all dads, today. My son got me flights to Melbourne, 2-nights apartment accommodation in East Melb and tickets for the game coz I deserve it. 'Carna Dees. The lad and I regard this match as the pinnacle of the year.

At training yesterday Tyson cleaning marked hard kicks to him with no discomfort.  His kicking was precise and effective also.

the team di a lot of 50 m run throughs at 3/4/ pace at thr end but Gawn, Spargo and O mac just jogged easy laps.  Not sure what that measn except maybe recognsiing the time of year and not driving Spargo into the ground before Friday.  TMAc led nearly all run throughs - huge power from him.

Agree.

I saw the Tyson xray post op (this is similar https://www.shutterstock.com/image-photo/fracture-bones-forearm-orthopedic-surgeon-operated-582434254) Just cant see them risking him yet.

Hannan/Viney/Smith gives us more defensive/goals/grunt than JKH/Tyson/Kent Just great to have options & depth at this time of year! Go Dees!

well viney for kent obviously and it depends on tyson, I reckon they will name him and give him until friday but it would good to get Hannan back.

On another note the storm have been scheduled to play there qualifying final friday night at aami park at the same time. The area is going to be packed. We could have 90-100,000 people in the vicinity  at the same time.

Hibberd, Hannan, Viney and AVB didn't play against them last time, we're much stronger and they don't have the home advantage.

That is a huge boost! Add to that, they’ll likely play ruckman Abbott who will get thrashed by Gawn. I suspect Geelong will be doing plenty of ruck-sharking drills in the lead up..

Gee I hope we don’t get umpire Nichols...

And Queens of The Stoneage are playing at Margaret Court Arena. The AFL are absolute muppets for scheduling this game on the Friday. Should of been WCE v Coll in Perth and  had us playing on the Saturday night.

So either the Hawks or Tigers get an extra two days rest before we play them in a semi final?

Thanks AFL, for actually being fair to us for once.

My preferences:

B - Jetta OMAC Lewis

HB - Salem Frost Hibberd

C - Brayshaw Oliver Jones

Foll - Viney Gawn Harmes

HF - Melk Weid AVB

F - Fritch TMAC Spargo

Int - Trac Nibbler Hannan JKH

The blocks of 6 look really intimidating on paper. Trac and Nibbler give a lot of flexibility, Gawn can rest with Weid moving around. We’re not short of firepower up front either. It’s gonna be and interesting game! The only question I have here is JKH, maybe Smith to give the backline more flexibility if there’s an injury?

Go Dees!!!

Nice interview with Spargo today. He says he was tired and it's been a long season, but Misson and co have been trying freshen up the first year players with some scheduled rests. Good player management, as Spargo and Fritsch have become handy players for us already.

Viney in for Kent this week. If Tyson doesn't get up, then Hannan in too you would think.

Very intersting selection dillemmas this week.

Kent out but for the sake of argument lets say tyson is fit to play. If so i think they will select him. His ability to win contests were very important in the wc game and the first half of the gws. Both were played at near finals like intensity. I think they will want his physical strength and ball winning skills on friday.

Viney is a certainty to be selected. But he is not a swap for kent and surely will mostly play as a mid. Which creates a bit of an issue in so far as tyson needs to be in the middle. Perhaps viney can play an outside, wing role.

I suspect they will want hannan in the side for his forward smarts but also his physicality and strength.

So who comes out?

Unfortunately for spargo and jkh i rhink it will be one of them, with jkh maybe being the unlucky one. He was the in for hannan against gws and plays the outside wing role that viney could slot into. Would be tough on him as he was terrific against gws and by all accounts was one of the standouts at training on sat.

They nay look at playing viney forward on touhy. He's very damaging if he gets to kick it and might hear footsteps when their viney's. Then swap with oliver, they weren't working perfectly together when viney was in earlier in the year.

Also if tyson plays it keeps the midfield closer to what they are used to.

Joel Smith could be a handy in, his defensive speed and height is very underrated by many here, and in his last game started to sort his disposal out. But he definitely saved more goals than he cost

Having seen the Ch7 interview with Tyson after training I think the Club will give him another week.

He got through training ok and is feeling good and then said it is just a matter of  "if"  the pain can be managed.

This is a no holds barred Elimination Final, if people don't think Geelong will target him and try to ramp his pain up........ then you should all move to LA.

Yeah I share those thoughts. There will be targeting, there will be intimidating. Cannot fall for it.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
